I apologize if this has been answered before but I couldn't find any topics on this.

I began disassembling my 1080 Ti Founders edition to slap on a water block and after I took the back plate off I noticed some weird coloring on the PCB (as shown in the pictures in the link).

I've had the card for about two months with no issues and only noticed this when I began disassembling the GPU. Should I be wary or can I proceed with adding my water block? Thanks in advance for your help.

Edit: changed the link

You don't have enough posts to properly link yet. Put spaces in your link to make the link show up on the forum.

^+1 like CoolGTX said. It could be from the thermal pad weeping. Nothing to worry about. I would be concerned as well, if I hadn't seen this before.

It's something that even knowing what it is I probably would still be posting pictures like you did just to get feedback from others.

Probably excess flux from the factory or that one white thermal pad on the back of the card leaking (for lack of a better term).

If you want to clean it use a cotton swap lightly moistened with 91 or 99% alcohol.  PCB cleaner works too if you have some.

I can confirm that this is normal and appears to be the non-conductive oily residue that can leak from the thermal pads.

If you have a moment, please rate my service. We appreciate the feedback!

Yeah, my 1080 TI had it as well when I was stripping it down to install the hybrid kit.
