they doubled the fp32 and the Tensor core width
so yeah this could be correct

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Graphics Card PCB & Power - Designed To Be Overclocked!

One of the biggest changes on the Founders Edition GeForce RTX 3090 graphics cards is the PCB design. The GeForce RTX 3090 & GeForce RTX 3080 comes with a unique & compact PCB package that is unlike anything we've seen in the consumer space before. But being compact doesn't mean that the cards don't pack a punch. There's some serious horsepower on these compact PCBs that NVIDIA has designed.
The PCB features over 20 power chokes which put it is a more premium design than the flagship non-reference RTX 20 series cards. The GPU is powered by 18 phases while the memory receives power from 2 phases. NVIDIA touts this PCB as an overclocking marvel with unprecedented GPU overclock headroom that most users can leverage from to gain even faster performance.

So regarding NVlink and SLI in general it appears only the RTX 3090 will support it according to the product page.

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/

They should just kill it off and move on at this point. They have continually removed SLI from tiers of cards starting with the 10 series as only 1070 and up were supported, then 20 series only 2080 and up were supported (yes I know 2070Super supports it but that's only because it's basically a gimped 2080 using the same die) and now only the 3090 supports it. Games barely support it at this point anyway and really in this market just how many people are going to be willing to dump $3000 USD on a multi GPU setup for only a handful of properly supported titles? Pack it up Nvidia, time to move on. Spend whatever R&D budget you're wasting on SLI on something else....anything else.

Let's see when EVGA shows 3080 and 3090 cards. How many people here are elligible for Step-UP? I am surely doing so, because I have recently bought the FTW3 2080ti for game dev, but it now looks like the 3090 will be similarly prices, so I guess it will be the only viable price option for Step-up...

"3080 is faster than 2080ti. 3080 is twice the performance of 2080 at the same price $699" That's going be my baby... I think... NOW EVGA better start shipping them to Amazon or else hahaha...

Keep in mind that's "twice as fast while running RTX under a full moon".  In everything else it's probably slower than a 2080 Ti.

haha... let me guess you probably have one 2080Ti?

Interesting that the Mainstream flagship does not include NVLINK...

I think this is a weak point in the NVIDIA strategy that AMD should capitalize on.

What happens to the Titan RTX price point? Deleted?

Obviously there will be some variants by vendors , because the range in between the cards is so huge --> $ 700 , --> then $1500 is next. ?   Weird choice.

Looks like most will be centered around versions of the 3080 .   I am sure we will see some 'Super' or "Ti"  within 6 months ....~ $900 , $1200 ,etc....

Who cares? Multi GPU for gaming is all but dead at this point. Support is all but gone, all this is, is another nail in it's coffin. They need to just slam the cover shut and bury it at this point.

With RTX and DLSS on of course.... even still,  like I stated early prices are good due to the cheaper Samsung process. Nvidia is using TSMC 7nm for their more expensive compute cards to save power, AMD is of course using TSMC for their upcoming RDNA 2 cards so even though I absolutely believe Nvidia will have the performance crown though the gap will be closer, AMD will likely have the more efficient card this round.

I can wait until November 19, 2020... Let's the GPU war begins...

I do.  It does 16,200 Timespy GPU score at about 50C on normal gaming OC.  I'll be waiting to see how these new cards do on real benchmarks, because that's actually a thing.

3090 'founders edition' length is 12.3" / 313mm. The EVGA 2080Ti FTW3 Hybrid is 11.45" / 290.83mm, so it's gonna be close in my case, but should just fit. I can't see from the pics where the power connectors go.. if it's out the end rather than the front, then I'm screwed. Specs say 2x PCIe 8-pin... unless that means from the PSU.

..OH wait, I see it in the middle of the card, it's the new 12 pin mini plug, so they must be providing an adapter.

fyi: width: 5.4" / 138mm, height: 3 slot.

Did it look to you guys that the actual PCB is small and the coolers are huge for pass through?  I'm really hoping some companies come out with standard width PCB cards so I can put a water block on it.

Yeah they are somehow doublecounting their cuda cores with Ampere.  The 2080 TI is 4352 cores, the 3080 is 8704 "half core" cuda cores.  The really are going to have the same number of cores, as per the rumors.

The GA102 has a good bit more transistors, but it's not even close to double.

VERY FISHY.

He did say that each core can perform 2 operations per clock.  Almost sounds like they hyperthreaded the cuda cores.

Kinda outta left field... does anyone know if they're going to remove the arbitrary 2 transcode limit on consumer cards?

I bet there's some funny math there.

It's not adding up either after reading the comments.  About to start the video but hope I get some answers.  Hope this isn't just marketing hype that includes the RT and Tensor Cores in the total count of Cudas.

Something is not right about those numbers... 5888 cores for 3070?

Yeah they are somehow doublecounting their cuda cores with Ampere.  The 2080 TI is 4352 cores, the 3080 is 8704 "half core" cuda cores.  The really are going to have the same number of cores, as per the rumors.

The GA102 has a good bit more transistors, but it's not even close to double.

VERY FISHY.

He did say that each core can perform 2 operations per clock.  Almost sounds like they hyperthreaded the cuda cores.

4352 was the rumored core count for the 3080.

Interesting.  Half of 5,888 is 2944, which is exactly the core count of the standard 2080 with the cut down TU104.  VERY INTERESTING.

Half of 10,496 is 5,248 which was the rumored 3090 core count.

Yeah, so they are just taking the core counts and doubling them, becuz hyperthreading.  LOL.

At the end of the day, the 3080 is just a condensed 2080 Ti with a bit faster memory, a little more power and better ray tracing.  Should be a nice card at a good price.

The 3090 looks like it will be about 20% faster and totally not worth the price premium.

Now that we have a handle on the specs, it puts these Timespy numbers in context:

https://hardwareleaks.com/2020/06/21/exclusive-first-look-at-nvidias-ampere-gaming-performance/

I'll say that's the score for the full fat GA102 with 5248 cores, or 20% more cores than the 2080 Ti or 3080.  So the 3080 should be about 5% more powerful than a 2080 Ti.
