kram36 It will be the 3090 only. EVGA will not have SLi on the 3080 and 3070. SLi is done at the driver level and Nvidia will only have SLi implemented for the 3090 in the driver.
Why in the world would EVGA waste time and design money to engineer in SLI fingers on 3080 and 3070 cards and it not be a thing? Sounds like not everyone is on the same page and AIBs are either going off script or Nvidia is. My thoughts are the only ones off script are the radical fringe of Nvidia fans chronically confusing enthusiastic option with fact. Kram36 sure seems authoritative about stuff. How dare I question his Nvidia religion. Show them a photos and they only get louder in denial of anything that doesn't align with their group think.
robertdinh You do know they might have just used the 3090 picture for them all to highlight the design.

It's a little bit more than just using the 3090 picture, it would mean they were faking hardware in photos to the point they were changing the fan shrouds to say 3080 and 3070. You guys aren't being that observant with the photos.

Only RTX 3090 supports SLI, From Jacob himself: https://forums.evga.com/FindPost/3072926 Guess they should fix those pictures.

You can try to spin it like that, but the fact of the matter is we've seen confirmation that only the 3090 will have nvlink, so that's that.

I was advised that as part of measures taken to help prevent scalpers buying all the stock, orders are limited per delivery address, so you can't create multiple accounts and do multiple orders to the same address. I was then advised it is limited to 1 card per address, except the 3090 which will be limited to 2 per address for those who want to SLI them. This infers that there is no SLI on any of the other cards, which is in line with what NVidia are doing.

Real photos always trump 3D renders for a reason. Renders commonly goof up details like SLI fingers because they use stock reference images. For the sake of argument, even if EVGA added NVLink to 3070 and 3080 cards, EVGA does not write the software drivers. NVIDIA does, so it's likely it would never be supported in the drivers.

Why are we arguing about SLI? The tech is for all intents and purposes dead for gaming outside of a few niche cases and even then support and scaling are often garbage anyway. So, who cares?

Because the +20% performance gain on the 3090 over the 3080 is not worth more than double the price. Pair of used 2080 Ti (maybe even 2080S) will walk all over a 3090. Very curious to see what the actual benchmarks come out at, if that 18,250 Timespy GPU score leak was the 3080 or 3090 or something else. We'll know a lot more on the 16th, or maybe sooner.

I wonder if that's one SKU per address or one GPU period per address with the exception of the 3090 being purchased, you can still purchase another?

And I'm almost certain the 3090 will be more than 20% faster than a 3080 with RTX effects enabled and at higher resolutions. How much faster? Hard to say really but let me tell you this, if you're buying a 24GB video card to play at 1080p you are doing it wrong. Who cares about a 1080p time spy score? The reality of the matter is that the next generation 3000 series cards are going to be heavily CPU bottlenecked at 1080p and won't really get to stretch their legs until you up the resolution.

And that's fine, but there's still an even bigger gap between cards than with the Turning launch ($400 vs. $800) and yes, the performance difference is going to be 20%. I can easily see how someone would want to try SLI with two 3080. Heck, 2070S is a hot setup for the money. Not that I'm advocating for SLI. I'm referencing Timespy because it's the universal non-RTX benchmark and there's a sightly credible benchmark leak of it.

Yeah SLI would be great......if it actually worked. I used to be a HUGE advocate for SLI and multi GPU setups but support for those setups have fallen off a cliff in recent years. If SLI worked in most games (which it doesn't) you'd have a leg to stand on here. However that's not the case as most developers just don't bother with trying to add support for multiGPU setups that most people just don't use. The problem is systemic, Microsoft shifted multi GPU implementation to developers with DX12 and it's explicit and implicit multiGPU modes and developers either don't have the support or resources to add multiGPU so they often don't bother. It's usually only studios that receive direct support from Nvidia or AMD themselves that offer any kind of multi GPU support these days even if the game engine is running a DX11 path or earlier.

Yeah I suppose so. I was pricing out a 2080 Ti SLI setup, with either a second hybrid or going dual waterblock. Hummm.

People that are buying "top of the line" aren't concerned with "value" or justified expense vs return. They only want the best of what's currently available, period.
Hummm. The big deal breaker is that 4K 120Hz Displayport screens are very limited. I'd want a 48" LG OLED TV, which is HDMI.

Bruno747 If that 10k cores is correct, this must be a unique chip to gaming becuase A100 is only like 8100ish. Not proud of the price, but proud of the specs if that number is true. By golly I might have to get one.
It's not. NVIDIA doubled the FP32 hardware in each CUDA core, so it's counting each CUDA core twice. For comparison purposes with older hardware it's only 5,248.
I'm comparing the 3090 (ampere) chip cuda core count which is 10496 vs the A100 (tesla Ampere) chip cuda core count which is 8192. These are same generation chips. Yes Nvidia doubled the cuda cores per SM, but my understanding is that 1 cuda core on 3090 is same as 1 cuda core on A100. Its just layout is different between GA100 and GA102 with GA100 giving up FP64 core space to allow for more tensor and FP32 core space.

Same generation, but different core designs. Pretty sure that even the A100 doesn't have the FP32 doubling per CUDA core that the 3000's have. CraptacularOne Why are we arguing about SLI? Because two 3080's is both cheaper and far more appealing than a single 3090. The Folding@home performance alone would be way better and I'd save $100... For all the drawbacks of SLI, it's still a bit silly given the value in two 3080's this generation.
