Hey Signman86,

Unfortunately I can't quite make out the full serial number. 3 numbers in the middle are just a little too blurry.

Looks like 1612936286900248

That's after enlarging the pic and adjusting the brightness and contrast and a hint of sharpness hehe.

Hopefully he has an original uncompressed picture of it.. as you know you have to downsize and compress it to post on here.

Sadly that pulls up nothing. I tried a few of them but could not get any thing to pull up. They are very compressed for sure. I hope the ones they have are a little easier to read.

I've sent them a message via eBay and got a response of 'Cant you see the pictures?'

The longer this goes on, the more it looks like he is trying to pull a fast one and switch it with a broken GPU that I'll be left with. He has also conveniently ignored every message I have sent regarding the warranty not being void. But as a previous poster put, eBay tend to site heavily with the buyer which could leave me out of pocket and without a GPU.

Why can't people just be honest. Its a such a rare characteristic these days, and so sad.

Ok - I've spoken to Scan - the retailer I purchased it from and they have a copy of the serial number from when I bought it

They have confirmed it is 1612936286800248  - which is what the picture looks like.

Does anyone know if the serial number is on both halves of the GPU, ie - if someone had removed my back plate and put it on a broken PCB? Is that even possible?

Someone could've swapped the backplates without evening knowing about a second serial number tag.  You are right with how ebay works and more specifically like the paypal snakes.  When you elect to go to war if you will, it get super drawn out.  I've been there once or twice.  Won once and lost a second.  The general consensus is to agree with the buyer (one of the many reasons I refuse to sell on Ebay anymore) however if you can provide the truth and the proof you generally will win.  I would say what you need to do is have EVGA verify your above serial number (which I am sure Christian will be able to) and then work with EVGA to contact Ebay or request that ebay contact EVGA.  This whole interaction with the buyer sounds suspect.  By chance, does he have any negative feedback (maybe a percentage less tha 90%) to show a potential judge of character?

His feed back is all positive - 100% with 99 reviews over the last 12 months - all as a buyer - so it would seem it might be all OK.

I feel better now that I know the serial number of the card I originally sent out and might just risk giving the guy a refund and having to resell it. I feel that taking the risk of having eBay side with the buyer is currently higher than that of getting the card back.

Actually, even if the buyer won, you would have to front the shipping cost, but you can get the card back. However, it doesn't make sense to even go that route. I look at this way. If you cannot get EBay to listen, then I would make sure you have everything documented and if you get a different card back, you have a leg to stand on with EBay. What is a joke though now. I'm getting harassing emails suggesting I broke their policies about talk with a potential seller about going outside eBay and PayPal. The only thing that was discussed and it was part of the sellers listing what pick up terms.

Fleabay at it's finest.

I think there's other numbers by the pci-e gold fingers. Though will be different then the serial number though and don't know if there somehow linked to the card serial number.. as in if he swaps the heatsink will evga know or not.

If you do choose to let him return it and refund him.. obviously test the card first. Then call evga and see if they can tell you if those numbers match with the serial number.

Will eBay make him refund the guy if the card comes back bad and not in original condition??

He will have to make sure everything is documented before shipping and it can be verified. EBay won't make him refund if it comes back with wrong serials and such. Like I said though, rock solid proof will be needed.

I stopped using EBAY years and years ago, over 10 years ago. Too much shady business on EBAY.

I'll be able to get an email from the retailer I purchased it from, along with my invoice proving the serial, and if these other numbers have a connection with that serial number I'd have hard proof.

feedback never shows up for sketchy buyers since sellers can't leave negative feeback on buyers

Am I right though that sellers can leave neutral feedback which would still show up? Or can you honestly only leave positive?!

Whenever you buy or sell something, you can leave Feedback about the transaction. Your buyer or seller can leave Feedback for you as well.
Note: Buyers can leave sellers negative, neutral, or positive Feedback. Sellers can leave buyers positive Feedback or choose not to leave Feedback.
Over time, eBay members develop a Feedback profile, or reputation, based on other people's comments and ratings. The Feedback score is one of the most important pieces of a Feedback profile. The Feedback score is the number in parentheses next to someone's user ID. The score also located at the top of someone's Feedback profile.

How are Feedback scores calculated? For each transaction, buyers and sellers can choose to rate each other by leaving Feedback. Buyers can leave a positive, negative, or a neutral rating, plus a short comment. Sellers can leave a positive rating and a short comment.
We use these ratings to determine Feedback scores. In most cases, members receive:

+1 point for each positive rating

No points for each neutral rating

-1 point for each negative ratin

Which seems kinda silly unless NO or neutral is somehow taken into account a buyer would always have a 100% rating

Ebay is pure garbage. You'd be better off selling on Craigslist local only, cash, neutral location. That's what I do and never had an issue. Evga made it even easier with their new warranty system.

I'd probably agree with you for selling on a small scale. I've been restoring my 88 Ranger and it's amazing the original parts in mint condition I've been able to find. I've owned it since it was new...the joke is I'll be buried in it. So it has it's uses for some things.
