Also, from the legal standpoint, Stanford University and the Pande Group, to my knowledge, have NOT released trademark rights on anything Folding@Home related. 
 
This is probably NOT as big a deal with the Pande Group, but Universities are notorious for NOT wanting to miss out on revenue. 
 
If this ISN'T the case, I think Shane laid out a pretty good explanation for EVGA's reticence.

You think with 1400 team members and thousands of forum members, EVGA would see the opportunity to make a few bucks.

A moot point unfortunately, we lose money on each shirt sold (almost 100%) because we practically sell at cost and have free shipping, not to mention the folding community has a lot of EVGA bucks saved up per capita so there's even more.

We don't mind this necessarily, when we make a batch of shirts we know this ahead of time, but it shouldn't be an argument for it.

I would like to make another pass at Folding@EVGA shirts, but there's a problem we face each time we make a new design.  We have very large minimum orders, we end up giving them away at shows and sell maybe a few dozen.  I suppose if there was enough interest in the past showing that we sold a bunch of them rather than handing them to random people that walk by a booth it would be different.  Unfortunately this is the reality of the situation - there is no REAL interest.  When I say REAL interest, I'm talking thousands of people. 

Ouch!, thats a rather Scathing respresentation of what the thousands of us whom dropped, at the minimum, hundreds on your product actually mean to EVGA.
FoldingEVGA:"we want a shirt"
EVGA: "We want your money"
FoldingEVGA: "We are spending it all on your motherboards and GPUs and our Electricity. We are trying to find the Cure."
EVGA: "surely you can afford this shirt then"
FoldingEVGA:"I have 100 EVGA folding bucks though?
EVGA: "Sorry we lose money on that, can i interest you in something we had made in China for a few pennies, Maybe a couple of SLI Bridges, a case badge, or perhaps a Dongle?"
 
I dont guess they ever realize there are folding contests and such they could drop a few on.
I guess we could just see if Stanford would authorize their logo on something for ALL FOLDERS, not Just TEAM evga. At worst you could build something via CAFE Press and pimp it out especially if we just have to pay for it anyways.

Pande Group and Stanford hold the rights im sure.
I think I would contact them and see if they want to pursue it for all Folders.
They can use it to make a bit of a fundraiser for Pande Group.

I think you completely missed my point.  As I stated - using money is not a valid argument.  We are fine with losing money on shirts, we do it every time.  It is only a matter of interest.  There simply isn't enough to justify placing a large order since there will be dozens of large boxes gathering dust instead of being worn by folders.

Ok so money is not a Problem, Give one away to every evga folder on this site. Stick a note for a free one on every Product registration page, same as you do the codes for Mafia2 and SC2, that if they sign up to FOLD for EVGA they get one. Next off, hand them out at PAX EAST or whatever. Stick a form on the EVGA YEAR 4 form where we ask for our folding bucks, come on its either doable or its the money?

Guys, seriously, stop.  There's over 1400 folders, but how many are active here?  How many are actively seeking these shirts?  I've seen a small handful.  It's REALLY not likely to happen unless you manage to get EVERY ACTIVE folder to prove the ACTIVE interest is there.
 
Keep in mind that there is a pretty good ammount of folks that come in every month from other teams to fold for the bucks, then go back to their own teams, without being active in the forums, so using the Active Folder number to show interest for this is really a false number.
 
All this continued conversation is serving to do is likely to be doing is to annoy EVGA and their employees, thus making it LESS likely for us to see such an item in the future.

Less likely enough to prevent them from acting on it if the REAL interest actually arrives.  Keep that in mind, please.

Do you think any one one the production / work / racing side of NASCAR goes and pays to put a Go Daddy logo on their shirt, or does Go Daddy provide the logo, the shirts, and some cash to boot? Same for lots of other things in life.

 
TeamEVGA is NOT SPONSORED by EVGA.  TeamEVGA was formed by folks who were users of the EVGA Forum, and the team name FIT.  What you describe above is a corporate sponsorship in which the paying corporation provides the goods you are describing.  EVGA DOES NOT Sponsor us in any way or shape beyond the EVGA Bucks promotion.  Period.  This is the mind set that has/had folks from other teams trying to figure out how to get our team sanctioned by the F@H folks.

Well, thats not the case... Money flowing from our pockets, keeps the doors open and im not talking just EVGA Folders, Im talking all of the people Buying EVGA. Its still a matter of We the People.

 
As Shane has said, they've seen a VERY limited interest in such an item.  They aren't interested in wasting storage space on 2000 shirts that they MIGHT be guaranteed to move 30.  It's a simple bit of accounting.

Stop trying to be a Subject and ask for what you want and make a point that people want it. Dont go thank someone for an answer of " not enough interest" Go generate interest, prove the point.

 
You want this to happen?  Start an e-mail campaign.  Get several thousand folks who REALLY are interested in paying for such a shirt to e-mail the marketing folks and tell them directly.  THIS will generate interest in a manner that will provide the hard facts/numbers NEEDED by the accounting folks to force them to say "Hey, you know what, that's a GOOD IDEA!"
 
And please NEVER assume I'm anyone's 'Subject'.  I'm a student of the ways of the world and how big business actually DOES things. 
 

Let's not forget that big companies tend to rely on shares more than sales. Those that are PLC's anyway..

I remember this thread some people moved a bit to get those shirt, but then nothing. There were 47 on the list and a few more awaiting approval to place orders.If Evga would have stepped in i'm sure the number would be a lot bigger.
From what i remember and know, Evga didn't respond to the request to approve the design. Why Evga didn't i don't know. It may have to do with copyrights, but i'm still waiting for a chance to get one.
 
Also if you guys ever do this t-shirts, could you also do them in smaller sizes? I for one am skinny, so an XL on me would look ridiculous (and i don't dress like a rapper either   ).

i wander if i stop by evga and ask for permison to use the year 4 logo they let me i really good friend of mine has a silkscreen shop he dose all types of gear as long as i have the ok from EVGA i am sure he run off a 100 or so at a time for me
if evga want's to chime in on if they will allow us to make are own
i can arrange it in small batches
i know 75% of us need a XL or XXL shirts (i used to fit in XXL now i am just a Large thanks to cancer)
i will talk to tony today about what he can do for us
i been wanting a good F@H Sweatshirt  for a long time
 
 
even know when we are in our folding rooms we can never use them because of the heat.
btw my room is 107 deg F it's 69 deg F outside
so even one i7 +470's can be used as a good heater lol.

Im planning spending big $$$ on plenty of 570's and keplers when they come out and maybe a MB or two
 
You think they could return the favor and offer a goodie like a Hoodie with a folding logo on it...
 
Many of us spend plenty of $$ and they can't spend a few bucks of a simple item
Some of us are spending thousands of dollars on EVGA equipment...
come on they could do this...and at the same time promote their product and folding @ home
 
whats 1 hoodie or sweatshirt compare to a high end vid card?
 
secondly EVGA is in the position to poll(thru email) the folding community and figure out the numbers easier than we can
mass mailing is easy with a form letter
just ask everyone to respond in a certain time frame
