Good day to all, been having this issue, just started to bug me a bit, my screen shows perfectly fine when not doing anything to stress the gpu, but when i start a game, i see visual tearing, i alt tab and the it shows on my desktop if the game is running in the background, seems to be when i have Vsync turned off in game and i tab out, it happens less when i have vsync turned on ingame, its turning into an eye sore now when i see it happening. ,this issue never occurred with my EVGA GTX 670 FTW, Some assistance would be greatly appreciated to get this fixed, thanks.

Try this... #1 Preform a clean installation of video drivers. - Uninstall Precision X/Afterburner if installed, make sure to select "no" to saving profiles if asked. Reboot the machine.
- Download & save graphics driver 347.09 to your desktop. Run it after download is complete.
- Select custom advanced install, under custom installation options uncheck all options except the physx system software, if you are using audio over HDMI please select the HD Audio driver, if you have a 3D capable monitor and would like to use 3D at some point select the 3D Vision driver also, check mark perform clean install, then click next to install the driver, reboot when asked.
#2 Disable vsync inside the game. #3 Open nvidia control panel, select manage 3d settings, select global tab, set triple buffering to on & set vertical sync to on (smooth). Now retest your game.

game runs perfect no noticeable tearing, its when i alt tab the game i see the visual tearing on my desktop (alot), so if i alt tab to watch a webpage or do something else just a bunch horizontal lines faded going up and down in the background, i'll do a clean install, will report back.

Ok. Do you have windows aero turned off? If so, re-enable it too.

okay, i did a fresh install same issue, think i discovered the problem, its the fans, i made a fan curve with precision to prevent the card from over heating cause it was hitting 75 degrees while gaming with default settings ,fan speed goes up lines appear, probably due to vibrations of spin, maybe it causes this issue, once the fans goes back down to an average then the lines go away and its back to normal... heart broken a bit right now, currently got shadow of mordor running, fans at 2600 rpm 60 degrees, seeing the lines flickering on my desktop while i type this update. This could damage my Gpu right?

OK, so i closed to game off, tried increasing the fan speed, no lines appear.. Am confused right now...isn't that boost clock speed a little to high? could it be that?

I don't think it's because of the clock speed. Have you tried the other available display ports on the card to see if they produce the same issue?

Silverdoxxx okay, i did a fresh install same issue, think i discovered the problem, its the fans, i made a fan curve with precision to prevent the card from over heating cause it was hitting 75 degrees while gaming with default settings ,fan speed goes up lines appear, probably due to vibrations of spin, maybe it causes this issue, once the fans goes back down to an average then the lines go away and its back to normal... heart broken a bit right now, currently got shadow of mordor running, fans at 2600 rpm 60 degrees, seeing the lines flickering on my desktop while i type this update. If the fans were vibrating that much to cause a problem it would mean that your card may not be locked in the pci-e slot correctly and is working its way out, giving you weird issues. Overheating will def cause issues like the lines and if you've been gaming on default fan setting, very low fan, for awhile you may have damage to the vram or gpu. The reason why I asked about your psu is because of the issue of doing multiple things with the card and stressing it, then cranking fans and issues cropping up like they were....I was thinking maybe the 12v rail is off spec/bad ripple etc... and it wasn't handling the load, or at least contributing to a multi layer problem.Did you try Sajins suggestion to change the adapter/vga/dvi wire etc? Have you, or can you, try the gcard and psu, but separate installs not together, in a different machine or at least try to check your load/idle voltages of your psu on your current machine? Taking the gcard to another machine with a proper driver setup and seeing if the issue follows the card would help you a lot. At the very least I would do a proper uninstall of the NVidia driver your using, using guide below, clean up with ccleaner and do a proper install of the 344.16 driver and work from there. I would uninstall precision for now too and maybe later, if you figure the issue out, install msi afterburner instead. Just out of curiosity, is that the Coolermaster Silent Pro M 700 psu or the Coolermaster Silent Pro M2 720 psu? Hopefully this is solveable and you don't have to go through a rma. http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1776353#1776353 ......... does another fan curve solve the issue? maybe just leave the fans on auto mode for testing. don't bother the GPU getting around 80C, it's not an issue at all.

Hi Silverdoxx,I'm almost sure that you have the same problem I had recently with my EVGA GTX 970 ACX2.0.I was seeing flickering ,horizontal lines all over the screen and like you I was using VGA cable with DVI adapter .It turned out that it was the cable, I swiched it with DVI-D cable and everything was fine,no lines no anything exept the usual drops in the frame rates and GPU utilization but that is another topic so try with another cable(monitor if you have to, jsut to make sure it is not the GPU faulty).

thanks for the tips guys i'll work on getting another cable /monitor soon, hopefully that's the problem, clean install, even used the tool from Guru 3d, i made sure everything is fastened properly, i checked to 12v rail in the bios, its at 12.48 if i recall, that was my first assumptions. remember its no fps drops/ no spikes smooth gameplay just these lines appear on desktop when i alt tab when fan speed increase and card is at load, barely shows in game, i'll just play without fan profiles for the mean time, that's only way i get no lines currently.

Hey Silverdoxxx , did u ever managed out what caused those lines ? I just got my and have exactly the same problem you havehere. I tryed all the stuff from guys recommended to you , nothing solved it , still the same , so far i start a game thath using the GPU a bit high , and the fans increasing the speed the lines starting to shown up in game but when alt-tab to desctop to. So far i close the game and wait a fev seconds that the Fan's speed from GPU comes down , the lines goes away.. This not happening on all games , only on those really FPS eater games , like moded Skyrim , The Witcher and games like that that getting the GPU a bit hot..
When this happens actually watching in Precision X i never seen that my GPU get a temo over 60 celsius on those games , and the fan speed curve is set to auto..
Im a bit scared , the gpu is just around 3 weeks old and now i notice those lines as i have started to play those stronger games..
If you are noticed what was the problem and maybe haves a solution , i would apreciate it alot.
Thanks..

Yes I did figure it out, i ended up RMA the Card, but the same issue occurred when it came back, i ended up purchasing a new Monitor which supported DVI HDMI and Display port, works perfect now, OLD AOC 22 inch VGA only Monitor i had before.

Nice to hear you solved it and thats works perfect now for you , and of course in nice to known that this was not a failure of the GPU / it's not damaged or something.. Thanks for the reply buddy.
@: Thanks for info , and i noticed that the post is old , but was in hope that he will get any notification as a member :) so he did ;)
