Well, was checking Microcenter stock for fits and giggles this morning and saw that they had multiple Asus Tuf OC and MSI Suprim Liquid X in stock, drove there not caring if they were still in stock when I get there and ended up with the MSI. Not having done research, I’m not sure which one was the better choice, so I don’t know if I’ll keep this or return for the ASUS, or even return and wait to get an FE, since it’s cheaper than either of them. Or just return it and keep my 3090 FTW3 Hybrid, for that matter. Didn’t get the protection plan, but if MSI’s RMA service is notoriously bad, I can still get the Microcenter protection plan if I physically take the unopened box to them within 15 days of purchase, I’m told by the store manager. Any pointers or experience you want to share with this card? PS: Apologies if this might be seen as crowding since I’m sure there are other threads on this. Edit: yeesh. …

Are you having problems with it? The card is fine really as are all of the RTX 4090s they are all overbuilt, even the base models. If you already have it just keep it and game on, no real point in returning it and going through all that again. I'm not even sure what this thread is about? Buyers remorse?

I have one, used it for a week, with as good as FTW3 Hybrid temps, then I blocked it , great card , only 110% power target but I got a top 100 3dmark score with it. Biggest VRM of the 4090s

I have the ASUS TUF 4090 OC (blocked with an EK-Quantum Vector²) using the CableMod 12HPWR to 4 x PCIE native (Type 4) cable for Corsair PSU's and my power limit is 133%. The extra power limit probably doesn't mean much seeing as all 4090's are voltage limited without modification.

Not at all. I just got it this morning, and did it even open the box. Not having done a full research on AIB 4090 cards, I just wanted to make sure there isn’t any red flags on it. I guess you can say there’s a bit of buyer’s remorse, but it was there even before I got in the car to go to Microcenter when I saw them in stock. I’m just thinking out loud if it is a good step up from FTW3 3090 Hybrid I have that’s all. I was barely able to get the 3090 July 21, roughly 10-11 months after release, and not wanting to be in the same position with the 4090 was more of a driving factor in getting it. Thanks again all.

No, there isn’t an EVGA 40 series card. The 40 series forum is for all 40 series cards, so moving a 40 series card out of the 40 series forum is probably accidental.

I wish they had an ABP model for the gigabyte cards, but at least with no major components like RAM on the back side it shouldn't be as big of a deal I hope.

I really don't see why not to keep it but I would consider getting rid of the 3090 if you can get a decent price for it. No reason to keep it unless you have another system to put it into. The extended warranty might be worth getting instead of dealing with MSI but it really depends on the price they want for it. Also between brands the cards are going to be pretty close to the same performance. While I might care about benchmarks before I buy a card in reality I wouldn't return a card for another brand since sometimes the luck of the draw is all that made one card better in a benchmark.

Thanks @Hoggle. I was hoping for an FE, but I think I’ll keep this and call it a day. Microcenter’s protection plan is $150 for two years, so I’m not sure if it’s going to be worth it.

It's not a big deal , they use full pads on a substantial aluminum backplate. My BP temps under load top out at 37, and normally running within 3c of the water temp, I feel it would make a difference for the 4090 but not even close being a necessity. It is kinda a waste on a 3090ti. Just guessing, I bet it's probably about 3C cooler with an ABP, and when you're not getting over 50 , not sure it's worth the extra 200$. I have an active universal back plate MP5 in the closet but have not used it because it really isn't necessary.

Yep I put one on my 4090 and was pretty impressed with that backplate and the pads. I haven't checked the temps yet on it though.

Not sure where the bad idea is, but maybe i'm missing something? The Suprim Liquid X is a great card with a strong VRM. Have been very happy with mine. Can only speak to one RMA experience i've had with MSI for a Unify X that wouldn't post after a BIOS update. They had it fixed and returned in under 2 weeks ship to return receipt. No issues or complaints from me there. GL hope you enjoy :)

oh ya I saw your build last week, I just know my backside temps from an IR thermometer I can shoot on the plate and having had the 3090ti V2 block , the 4090 uses the backplate much more but it does what its supposed to.

I know we're getting a bit OT now, but yeah I just noticed that it is called the Master but it's the one they listed for the Gaming tier. Strangely the Windforce (basic) model must have something really different as their configurator says "nope no water block for you and we're not making one".

Here I'm am hoping more MFGRs produce more AIO cooled GPUs 4090/4080/4070 or at least a company with a bracket that's compatible with most AIOs but nadda, zilch! Just an AIO with MSI...
I'm just trying to transition from custom liquid cooling to a more simplified liquid cooled system but they're making it difficult. EVGA, please jump on the opportunity and make a universal AIO bracket that won't be proprietary to your AIOs but to many.

Thanks, it’s mostly due to trying to be a financially responsible adult and the effects of butthurt we received buying 3090 cards at 2k msrp only a year and a half ago :). Thanks again for sharing your personal experience with it. I’m sure I’ll like it after required amount of thinking to justify why I need it.

Unless I'm reading wrong from the below post on another forum, the MSI Suprim Liquid X has the 2nd best specs amongst all of the 4090s only being behind Galax HOF which is not available in USA? Below is the link. Info on each brand/model is in the first post: [Official] NVIDIA RTX 4090 Owner's Club | Overclock.net
