Urgent need help, the WIN10 system of EVGA SC17, can not be entered with"your PC ran into a problem...".
Also Safe Model failed to entering.
After a series of check, it was found in DiskGenius that the number of two hard drives is reversed. That is, the SSD hard drive was set to the second drive, HD1, and the HDD hard drive was set to the first drive HD0. I believe this caused the failure to enter Win10. How to change the sequence number of the two hard drive？ THANK YOU.

My OS Boot Drive is Number 2 as well and Windows 10 Starts without any problems. What changed or was done to the Laptop before this started to happen?

I think the boot drive， SSD， should have be the first drive， HD0，I do not know what caused the sequence number changed. bcavnaugh
My OS Boot Drive is Number 2 as well and Windows 10 Starts with any problems.
What changed or was done to the Laptop before this started to happen?

The number of a Drive means nothing to Windows it can be 2 or 5 or 0 The Drive is Selected in the Bios as the Order of the Drive you want to Boot First. Did you make any changes in the Bios and change the Boot Order? Is this a New Laptop Being Turned On for the First Time was this Laptop running fine before this started to happen?

Hi bcavnaugh, thank you for your kind response. A several weeks ago, I ubdated BIOS version to 1.07 to increase security related to the reported Spectre vulnerability, and it is fine to use the OS. a coupled days ago, I shutdow the laptop, and reboot, the problem mentioned above appeared. I spent several days to solve the problem, but I still have NOT succeeded. Currently, ubuntu system was also installed in SSD. Ubuntu can be successful entered, but WIN10 failed. By the way, how to change the Boot Order in BIOS? No items for BOOT ORDER were found in BIOS. bcavnaugh

The Drive is Selected in the Bios as the Order of the Drive you want to Boot First.
Did you make any changes in the Bios and change the Boot Order?
Is this a New Laptop Being Turned On for the First Time was this Laptop running fine before this started to happen?

I used this laptop for several months，and this Laptop was running fine before this started to happen. But I rememered I modified an everioment variable PATH in WIN10 from C:/PROG.../ANSYS, TO D:/PROG.../ANSYS, before this started to happen. Below is the pic of number of the two hard drives.  HD1 IS the SSD drive installed win10, Windows (I) IS WIN10 OS. Is this normal? ESP is on the second Hard Drive, which might be the cause of the boot failure.

The Drive Number is based where or what Port or Slot it is installed in where a Laptop or Desktop Motherboard. I have never seen a place in the Bios to change the Slot or Port Address or Number. HD0 HD1 HD2 is what I have and I installed a new M.2 Device to my HD2 Slot/Port and installed the OS in it. I then added the old M.2 Drives back in to HD0 and HD1 so your image almost is the same. Also I would undo this "I modified an everioment variable" to see if goes back to normal.

1."ran into a problem.."  2.'Automatic repair"   3. entering COMMAND PROMPT  4. From the picture below, the Drive of win10 OS is D:, and local disk of HDD is C:, I do not think this is normal. Windows should have be C:? I believe the laptop should boot from C.

Windows 10 Will Select the Drive to Install the OS on and Also what Drive the Special Partition get installed on. It does not matter what Drive HD0 or HD1 or Drive C or Drive D the OS is installed on and runs form. You can Clean all the Drives then Remove all the Drives and only have the Drive you want the OS installed onto, this is what I do. This keeps the other Drives Clean and not tied or connected to OS install. Windows 7 Did Not Do This.

Because of important dada and many APPs in drives C and D, I do NOT want to reinstall WIN10 OS. I need to resolve this booting problems.
I am wondering if I choose to unmount the HDD, only keep SSD reserved. But I dont know how to make HDD disappear.

If it starts without any problem, what is the problem? Does the drive letter really matter?
I would guess that whatever you messed with in addition to the Linux bootloader is what caused the problem to occur.
