TheNerd I sent in a ticket because I do not see anywhere on the page of how to set the video switch on the card not sure why evga didn't set the switch to use the primary bios and not the secondary
Google results for 1070 ftw bios switch:
It's exactly the same as the 1080, so don't worry about that. Look at the back plate of your card, and it has a designation that states "master" or "slave". Move the switch to the side you want.
The oracle (Google images) is your friend when trying to find things.
Thanks what's the difference between the two

TheNerd Thanks what's the difference between the two
Fan doesn't shut off, slightly more aggressive fan curve, and slightly higher power target on the slave bios.

I switched it to the primary bios and when the computer went to start my screen was all white with different color lines in it then the monitor went to sleep I hit the reset button and it started up fine. What was that screen that popped up

I'm not really sure. It could have just been the computer trying to load the wrong settings? If it happens again, maybe try reloading the bios on the primary side.

If you flash the primary bios to the secondary switch, it would just replace the secondary with a second copy of the primary bios. Switching it over makes sure it is just labeled properly for the future. :-)

I have the GTX 1080 SC and just did the pad mod and bios update, all factory settings, no manual OC. Unfortunately I didn't do a benchmark before the mod so I can't compare before/after, but I think it is now running hotter. I installed Prec. X and boosted my fan curve to 100% over 60C. running an open case just to get rid of variables. I am running the HTC Vive and with Nvidia Funhouse on Steam, settings to medium, I am bouncing off the thermal limit 83C. My log shows I have hit up to 93C. I don't know if I didn't push the cooler down hard enough onto the cpu, or didn't use enough thermal paste. I tossed the packet that came with the pad kit because it wasn't resalable, but I do have some paste left over from my cpu. I'll have to check again later but I think my mobo temp is running less than 32C which is close enough for me to say ambient. Can anyone tell me if there is a benchmark program I could run to get an under load baseline temp for my card to let me know if I need to pull it back out and strip it back down, or if I am just being a hypochondriac. Thank you.

Hi guys, I'm running a EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING, 08G-P4-5173-KR, bought on 11.21.2016. It came with the pads installed and the new BIOS (86.04.50.00.72), despite the sticker bearing another version number. Curious: how warm is the card supposed to run? In idle, Win 10/64, 378.92 WHQL drivers, I'm getting 54 degrees at 8 percent fan speed/304 RPM. Seems a bit hot? Bonus question: Furmark with full MSAA brings it to 66 degrees, with the fan up to 30 percent. Not bad, but I hear that Nvidia drivers limit Furmark's drain on their cards? Thanks for your insights!

Any way to edit the fan curve/speeds on the bios? I wouldn't mind running 40% minimum fan speed to keep it all nice and chill. Only reason I ask is because I strongly dislike running programs (RT, XOC) in the background, like I would have to currently for that purpose.

jeffbrouwers I'm trying to figure out the same thing, I don't like how my gpu fans are at 0rpm's unless I launch Precision XOC.
It is not possible to disable the Fans 0DB mode at BIOS level unless you have a Dual BIOS card like the FTW where the secondary BIOS has the feature disabled. Like the electronic fans on a modern car radiator, they go on and off as needed.

I have GTX 1060 SC (single fan) and I can't hear the fan voice until it reaches %45-50 (its not even so loud at %50 just noticeable) I don't know if 0db mod extends fan life (how long can it extend ?) or not but I think the card reaches higher temps in a shorter time like this and then fan curve goes high sooner so in the end 0 db mod causes more noise lol I am trying to set up a custom fan curve. Can you share the fan curve for this update please ? GTX 10660 SC is at 33 C without load. If fan stops it reaches to 37-40 C quickly and then fan speed goes to 1300- 1700 rmp. When I play CS: GO it goes to 50 C quickly When I play Ark survival it goes to 70 C real quick and I hear a very loud voice for a long time :P

Hello, I have the GTX 1060 SC model with an SSID of 6163. It's running the 86.06.0e.00.60 BIOS. I recently found out a newer BIOS even exists (late, I know) and I downloaded the 06G-P4-6163-KR link from the first post. I used the .exe file with admin rights and my screen went blank. Scary part is, it didn't come back on again. I waited nervously for a few minutes and then bit the bullet and reset. Upon rebooting I was horrified that my card wasn't there, but it just turned out it was disabled from the Control Panel (WTH?). Now it seems to be running fine but it still has the BIOS it came with. Did I do something terribly wrong? Am I going to be OK from now on even if I don't mess with the BIOS updates anymore?

Hello. I own 1070 FTW since October last year. Around Christmas I heard about the temperature problem and I bought the FTW Hybrid Waterblock Cooler Cooling. Core temperatures went down a lot. Unfortunately, but yesterday, a power cascade burn occurred on the back of the card. Do not you know if Evga cards are still exchanging this problem? And the second question, does the new FTW2 card already have such problems? Thanks for the info. I apologize for English - translation via Google :-)

Wow bro i had the exact same burned area on my EVGA GTX 1080 FTW last year. I received a new one from EVGA with Thermalmods already installed. Idk if the FTW2 have the same problems but i think EVGA will do anything to prevent problems like this in future. (I hope!)

More or less than I think, so, I´ve changed the new vbios to the old vbios, and later using msiaferburner I´ve made my custom curve fan speed. 70% fan speed for 73º it´s a lot of noise, 40% would be better and enough

The VBIOS version written on the sticker on the back of your card, is the VBIOS version which EVGA will expect to be on the card at time that they receive your card in for a warranty claim. If the VBIOS version on your card is not the version written on the sticker and is not an official EVGA updated BIOS newer than the version written on the sticker, EVGA may hassle you about it at that time. Does it void your warranty? That's a hard one to answer since it is subject to interpretation.
