Step Up queue is seriously not even past 9/17 yet?

Guess I'm just going to resell this 2070 Super & cancel mine, that's insane.  I know the 3080s are in short supply due to NVidia's supply being woeful but really?  Hasn't even moved past launch day? That's crazy at this point.
evga has shown its face and wants more sales then to keep its loyal fans, are you surprised? Plus have you seen the reviews on the ftw3? Poor bios , poor pcb layout and cheap components. You can cheap out and get a XC3 and just flash the bios and get the same performance. Even Jacob is avoiding questions about the voltage problems

I don't understand why people think eVGA makes less off Step Up than regular sales.

That's completely untrue.  When you do Step Up, you bought a card from eVGA either directly or through somewhere else.  That's money to them.  You then get in step-up queue, and you pay the difference when your turn comes around... that's more money to them... then when you send in your old card, they check it to make sure it's in good condition, and then resell it as B-Stock, and usually make more off it there than you would on EBay... That's MORE money to them.

They make more money off of the Step Up process than they do off retail sales.

Which begs the question why the Step Up queue isn't being prioritized more.

I'm sure there's a metric crapton of Step Ups on launch day, and we'll never know just how many there were.  It seems like it's moving slow when it's probably moving quite a bit, there are just hundreds of requests on launch day, if not thousands.

Also, I already have a 3080 FTW3 Ultra, it's a great card and I've had zero issues with it (had it since the second week of October).  My step up card would be for someone else.

You buy a 2070 super for $500. EVGA profits $X.

You join the step up queue. EVGA offers to purchase said USED graphics card from you, for full price. (zero sum now, because you paid $500 for the graphics card and they are offering you $500 credit)

EVGA then must spend money "refurbishing (cleaning)" and repackaging the graphics card you returned, so they can sell it for less than you paid for it. This labor cost to clean/repackage is a direct loss, and so is the amount of money they sell the card for below what they credited you for it. The $500 part of the equation is (SALE PRICE OF USED CARD - COST TO PREPARE FOR SALE)

So now for that $800 GPU, you have given EVGA $500, for the original card, and $300, for the difference. They then LOSE some of that $500 by reselling your old card (because it costs them money to prep it for sale and they won't be able to sell used cards for full price when a new generation has been released and the market is flooded with used cards). So unless you are suggesting they are selling a used card for more than MSRP, they are making less profit from a step up than they are a normal sale.

The proof is in the pudding. If they made more money off step up, they would be running through the step up queue first, so they could get that money in their hands.

Looking at past queues, it looks like 24 hours or less.. today seems like it is taking longer for the step 2s that came yesterday.

Also have to consider that EVGA lost 10% of the original sale if purchased through a vendor.  They paid income tax on the profits of the initial sale plus any labor shipping it. Then, after being refurbished, they are hit with tax again on the sale plus all of the labor and material costs you mentioned.  Then, on the sale of the new card they are hit with tax on the profits, but hopefully can write the profit from sale as a loss.  I really don't see how anyone can claim that EVGA is making money off the Stepup besides good will.  No one else is offering this so if you want a new Asus 3080 to replace your old Asus 2080, you pay full price and then get maybe $250 after everyone gets their cut of the sale.  These are the same people that would complain about paying $10 in gas to go pick up a free million dollars from the bank.

actually, EVGA some what profits from Step-ups. The card they get back from you usually high end cards like 2070/80s are sold as B Stock or use for warranty purposes. EVGA has stopped production on the 20 series cards, so if my 2080 SUPER FTW3 dies right now and they dont have an replacement or able to fix it for me. they'll need to replace it with a higher value card either a B Stock 2080 Ti or heck, a 3070/80.... So the step-up is a way for them to tap into needed inventory... for many purpose, what ever they get extra they'll just sell at B Stock...

Submitted my time. Seems 2:40 EST 9/20

Nothing back yet (not surprised), but mostly wanted raytracing before Cyberpunk 2077 released so this whole process will be worth it. Being able to get an RTX2000 for ray tracing now and turn it into a 3080 later with minimal loss of investment wasn't a bad deal.

I'm throwing in the towel. Signed up 2 weeks late because I was hoping that the 3080 XC3 would be available. It's looking like early-mid 2021 at this point. Gonna go back to trying to snag one from the bots. Good luck to everyone else here!

Depending on how late you signed up it might be earlier than you think. You face to remember that a huge majority of people signed up as soon as they could to be first in line. We've started to get bigger jumps in step 2 times the last two weeks. Both bigger than any drop before them. Once this first day is over you'll probably start to make good progress.

Just sign up for in stock notification... I got my step-up requests in on day one @ 10:35 EST.. I also put in a in stock notification for the XC3 on the same day.  I got my email to buy a new XC3 in stock through notification queue like 3 weeks ago.. I didn't get my Step 2 step-up until the Thursday that just past..

Kind of perplexed as to why new round of Step 2's hit Thursday morning, and here we are ending Saturday and not a single one has gotten to Step 3... when in previous rounds, people are hitting Step 3 same day or next day at the latest...
