I think they said they typically allocate half of cards they get in for retail on the eVGA site to Step-Up when the queue is large, so it should progress the queue quite a bit (if what has been said about AIBs getting a fair bit in to the triple digits per shipment is accurate).
I will be submitting mine tomorrow as soon as my 2070 Super Hybrid arrives... looking forward to playing around with that card in the interim, I skipped the 20-series because it didn't offer much progress over my 1080 Ti (unless I wanted to shell out for a 2080 Ti), but I've seen 2070 Supers can be pretty impressive for what they are. Getting it with a $50 off coupon direct from Newegg helped too :-D
If only that was true we would all have 2080s by Cyber monday. I have a feeling you'll be waiting a few months for your card if you just submitted your step-up. I've read they only allocate "some".

I signed up for the step up on the 21st. I don't think I'll see my 3080 until December. There just are not enough cards. Nvidia really did this release a disservice. You would think they would ramp up stock. Covid ain't helping matters either. Just sit and be patient. You have a card for free basically (using your step up card :). Look at it like that.

If you are under a 30 return period via Amazon. Do you suggest I just return my current card (gtx 1660 ti) or hold tight with it until the step up order is processed?

Hold tight. Use it for free and join the queue. Then you'll get full value for it when the 3080 comes up for you. You basically are using your card for free and you will get full value for it. Use it then send it back to evga and get the 3080. That is what I am doing with my 2070 super xc ultra. Step up program, though a long wait, is worth it. Good thing is hopefully nv ramps up production in the coming months so evgas step up program will have more available cards to distribute. I blame the shortage on nv. Anyways, enjoy your card!

I am about to receive my 2070 FTW3 today. I think I will sign up for the step up program. I was debating cause I just needed a 2070 but I really want a 3080 now.
If I was you, I'd jam out with the 2070 ftw3 your getting and as soon as the 3070 is added to the step-up list, my fingers would be smashing buttons. I wanted the 3070 but didn't release within my 90 days. I barely made the 3080 cutoff by 3 days. However, not including the over-priced Titan cards, when the previous Gen's flagship behemoth GPU (RTX 2080ti with a MSRP on release of $1,300) has been matched and bested in some areas by the newest generations more value minded product (RTX 3070 with a MSRP on release of $499) then one starts to grasp the serious jump that has been made. It's been 10 years 3 months since the unprecedented generational leap from Tesla GTX 260 to Fermi GTX 460 that gave us a massive boost in performance per dollar spent, but that was mainly centered on the 460 only and not the other 400 series cards. With the RTX 3000 series, so far it seems each tier may be able to check that off the bucket list. Anyways, like I was saying. If you got just the 2070 FTW3 and not the Super version then you shouldn't need to toss in more than $200 more for the 3070. I'd been all smiles if I could step-up to the 3070 from my 2070 Super Black that was $519.99. Oh well, 3080 ftw3 ultra will def be worth the additional $323 I have to toss in.
