I recently installed a new EVGA 1080 FTW and I'm measuring below par fps in games such as Dota 2 and CS GO, I'm getting 30-40 fps in Dota 2, and 130 in CSgo. This is what my old 780 used to get. I have used DDu and undertook a fresh driver install. My 3d mark score shown below is not representative of the scenario I'm getting in games.

My set up is
Mobo - Asus Z170 deluxe
CPu - I6700 stock speeds
GPu - EVGA 1080 FTW
Ram - 16gb Kingston Fury
PSu - Corsair RM850

Did you optimize your games with geforce experience? If yes, do #5 listed here.

thanks for the response Sajin, I will try that now. In your opinion is the benchmark score in the ballpark for my set up?

Yes, as long as your cpu/gpu are running at factory clock speeds.

The score seems a bit low. Does the GPU reach 83°C in games and lowers it's clock speed?
    Just to test the GPU:
    - set the fans to 80-100%
    - max out the power target
    - set temperature target to 83°C
    - run TimeSpy again

When I did timespy , it only reached 71 °C, the fans were at 34% max. ill try re-running with the settings you propose.

    ok here are the results

gpu did not go above 54 degrees. 163 point drop on previous benchmark. So its with the 3% ish deviation on standard benchmarks.

Clock speed capped at 1987 MHz. GPU-z displayed performance ca peing Vrel. Is this normal. I have 2 dedicated 8 pin cables to the gfx card. Ill try swapping the sockets on the psu and see what happens.

It really feels like 6400 Graphics score is too low for almost 2GHz.
Can you test by increasing the voltage by 100 in Afterburner/Precision X?

My 1080 F.E. runs at the same clocks 1987Mhz. I post slightly higher scores, but I also have a large OC on my 4690K. I also see that youre bench shows futuremark updates are available, I would do that update asap.

If you have problems just in games, you should try step one in this guide: http://forums.evga.com/Basic-troubleshooting-steps-Windows-clean-boot-clean-driver-install-debug-mode-etc-m2504606.aspx

If that doesn't work, steps 2 and 5 should help out. Be aware that with step 5 you will need to manually find the games configuration file and delete it. It may take you using Google to find out where that file is located and what it is called.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses , I am still having issues , but I'm working through the solutions proposed to see if something works. Fatty's the average score is similar but the gpu score are 400-600 diff on the benches. Its just odd that the system is scoring in the 'normal' ball park, but when I play games the fps is low. There is some bottleneck somewhere.

ok I reinstalled the division as a test, as there are lots of scores out there for my set up and my set up is comfortably hitting 144 fps with all settings maxed. So i think i can rule out a bottleneck with the system, i think its something to do with steam games , or as Sajin mentioned above optimized. I have removed the cfg files on Dota 2 and restarted but it didn't fix the problem. At least i have more confidence that my card isn't wonky which was the initial reason for my posting.

It says "there is a team currently looking into fps drops in Battlefield 4, CS:GO, Dota 2, Diablo 3, League of Legends and World of Warcraft since the Anniversary Update"

    Worth a try :)

Hey sheckie81, thanks for the advice, switched it off via the registry but it didnt improve any. One thing that may be wierd and I'd be interested in other 1080 ftw owners opinions, but the fans seem to have a very high kick in point. My card was sitting at 40 at some game menu screens and the fans were at 0%.

It is designed that way.  0dB operation until 60°C on the master bios.  Either do a manual fan curve or switch to the slave bios that locks the fan in at 30% minimum.

ok after days of searching and application of numerous *fixes*nothing seems to work. I recently picked up wow again and I have 30-40 fps in all zones. The gpu usage very rarely goes above 34% and the clock seems to sit at 1721 and does not boost itself.

As stated above the benchmarks are in the ball park, but the performance in game doesn't show it. I was holding off on a windows 10 fresh install until the waterblock becomes available as I couldn't be bothered doing it twice. Seems it may be my only option as I do not want to purchase a waterblock for something that may not be 100% operational.

ok here goes dumbass, but I have found the solution. I was fed up in the last night and wasn't happy about my unfamiliarity of windows 10 menus, so I set about trawling the settings. I then noticed a value within the power settings had changed to 'Power Saver'. I know I did have this at 'High Performance' before. Anyway a change over to high performance and a reboot and I was hitting 51% utilisation in dota 2 and a boost clock of 2025  MHz, this however did give me a frame rate between 90-120 with an extremely high fluctuation rate. A quick change to custom fan curve, and 120% power and I'm capping 140 fps with  max settings. I will try this on other games and report back.

I can only think that if you have a low demand game, then this setting says ok your not having that extra juice and reduces the performance to a minimum.

To anyone who has listed this answer and in my gfx upgrade induced depression I have missed it apologies.

Also Id like to thank everyone who has responded and gave me solutions to try, I really appreciate any time you have spent reading and responding.

    thanks again

Windows 10 behavior is a cause for a lot of problems. OS is such pile of crap and i always suggest to people to spend couple hours tweaking that crap out to behave as Windows 7 did and then magically all the problems are gone.
