I was able to turn off my 3060's LED without needing to apply a firmware update, but each time I launch Precision X1 to turn off my 3080 TI LED it wants to force a firmware update. Does anyone know a commandline switch for Precision x1 so I can enter the interface just to turn off the LED? I have not even played with the card yet, so I don't even know if I even need any firmware update. My motherboard does not support ReBAR YET as the last bios update was from early 2020.

Technically, you don’t even need to run PX1 to use a card, but using the software obviously gives you greater control over how the card functions. Is there any reason you don’t want to apply the firmware update?

Three reasons 1) I use MSI afterburner to control my fan curve. I don't need redundant software installed on my system. 2) I have no baseline on how the card performs with the current firmware, I just got the card today. 3) Don't want to risk bricking the card. Applying firmware updates in windows can be deadly. I use dos to update my hardware firmwares.

Yes, I have. The firmware updates come with Precision. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program and removing the firmwares from the sub folder and the program will not even load.

So, use MSI Afterburner to establish a baseline (or don’t) while ignoring the RGB, then switch over to PX1 to take care of the rest. You run the same risk of bricking the card via command line or GUI.

I have no plans to use Precision, or firmware update for no reason! I only want to turn off the led. The LED is lighting up the whole wall that he computer is facing I guess I will just have tot find the plug for the LED and disconnect it.

The firmware update fixes a bug with DisplayPort. Let it update your GPU and quit being scared…you also need it to update your GPU bios for resizable bar…unless you have a thing for leaving performance on the table lol

I think you would need to run the PX1 software unless maybe you had other EVGA hardware and LED sync works with it. On my 3080 I haven't been able to control it with LED sync though and I don't think sync to off was an option anyway which makes it probably a moot point.

Thank you for the info about the display port fix. My motherboard doesn't have resizable bar support. Thanks for reading! joseph305 in x1 there's a option to never check for updates...
If I could load the software without it first wanting to update before the GUI loads I could turn off the LED. kram36 Unplug the power plug to the LED.
Yeah this is what I did. Case closed. TahoeDust Just update your firmware man. You sound ridiculous.
I don't want to brick a $1500 before I use it? and I am being ridiculous? LOL https://www.techpowerup.c...ricked-my-3070.281649/ https://forums.evga.com/3080-FTW3-Ultra-Gaming-Bricked-after-Mandatory-Firmware-update-randomly-fails-m3248381.aspx Thanks for the responses everyone.
