I have a system at my job where the AMD card (hd6450) fan was died, So we got a (GT 740) for a budget replacement.

I first, Used DDU on the system to remove the AMD drivers, Shutdown. Swapped the cards, windows boots and logins with standard VGA driver, Installed nvidia driver fine (screen didnt flicker or adjust resolution) restart and BAM video hangs on windows starting screen, but you can hear the system finish startup cause the sounds it makes. you can even login. youre just stuck on that screen will the monitor shuts off due to no signal. Im kinda stuck. I have the drive cloned so ive cloned it back and threw the old AMD card back in for now just to access the system. Everything i google says driver sweeper or DDU. but already did that. plugging into onboard to see if its using that doesnt do anything either. 6 pin pcie is plugged in. never seen anything like this before.

I would uninstall from programs and features all amd drivers
restart pc to let it go back into windows
run ddu and select run in safe mode
restart to windows then turn off pc replace card, start pc and install nvidea driver. I would use the shutdown to switch card button on ddu
    Good luck

I would run AMD Clean Uninstall Utility and Then DDU in Safe Mode.
I had a lot of issues with the Current Drivers and Removing them.

I don't know what revision board you have, but make sure your BIOS is up to date:

Tried that too. Im at a loss. right now its running on the cloned drive with a spare HD6450 but i cant be buying 6450's for the life of the machine and we really dont want to format this machine although i know that will more than likely fix any issues.

What type of Monitor Cable and Monitor are you using?
Reset your Bios to the Default or Optimize Settings!
Did you disable the Integrated Graphics in the Bios?
Use only the Slot that is next to the CPU Socket.
You did run DDU in SAFE MODE Correct?

BTW "loads up to windows screen, monitor powers down but PC still boots up. or alteast i can hear it doing so via windows sounds." is what happened when I uninstalled the current 15.xx Driver software and went back to 14.12

After I switched from AMD to nVidia there was a leftover task in the Task Scheduler that needed to be deleted that all driver sweeping software overlooked. See if you can boot into Safe Made so you can access your Task Scheduler and delete the rogue task. That's all I can think of.

Sounds like you got yourself a faulty card. Have you tested the card in another machine to verify that the card is actually working?

    1. Tried DP port, DVI-D, HDMI - no change
    2. reset bios after updating bios to latest - no change
    3. Disabling and setting to auto - both no change
    4. Tried all slots for giggles - no change
    5. yes

Tried multiple cards in this machine - no change. Even the spare HD6450 doesnt work after AMD unistaller/DDU. stuck at same spot.

    Start in Safe Mode
Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video it will error but that is ok
Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Video it will error but that is ok
Restart PC Allow Windows to install the default VGA Driver wait 3 minuets press the enter key wait for reboot to start if not press your power button to allow the OS to shut down.
Start in Safe Mode Run DDU and let us know what happens.

This happen to me when I installed the First 15.xxz AMD Driver and then by allowing the AMD Software to upgrade to the current Drivers. I started to have Folding Issue on Core 21 and I removed the AMD Drivers to put back on 14.12 I got the same Windows Starts up ok you only have no Video only a Black Screen. The New 15.xx AMD Driver Really Suck.
