Hello

Is anybody from EVGATech going to slove this problem?!?! I have exacly same issue that  scrolling mouse wheel down works very bad - 2 lines down then 1-2 lines up. Changing to 1-line scroll do not help, no settings can fix it.
Can we get some firmware update to fix it? Can it be fixed mechanically? EVGA please answer cause I like this mouse but I'm going return it if I don't get answer in reasonable time. update: my OS is windows 7 and mouse  X5L

Hi EVGA. Long time no see.

Anyhow, I just bought the Torq X3L locally as my work mouse died this morning and I don't really need anything elaborate. I was curious about the EVGA mouse line and possibly ordering a X10 Carbon as a new replacement for my aging G9x that I'm still using at home for gaming. Little disappointed that I am having the issues described in this thread right out of the box, and even further disappointed to see so many people with the same issues in a thread started almost 11 months ago. I downloaded the latest firmware update hoping it would fix it, but it has not. Needless to say, I'm not very impressed and think i'll skip the X10 Carbon for my next gaming mouse for at home.

Sadly, i'll be returning this mouse after work for a refund. I use AutoCAD for work and the scrolling issue makes panning around my drawings an absolute nightmare. It's frustrating but will at least get me thru the day for now.

Sad day indeed.

This bug went away on its own for me, AGAIN.
It comes and goes randomly on its own for no reason. Extremely annoying. It pains me to say that I won't buy another EVGA mouse anymore when this one breaks.
sigh. so hard to find a mouse with good sensor for left hand usage.

i send my x5 to rma, and they replace it new one. there is no problem on my new x5. problem is not because of software (i didnt install mouse app again, i use my ex mouse profile file) or rubber. i recommend if you have the same problem, send your mouse to rma.

Damn... I thought they fixed it with a new batch reading the previous RMA post.....
My wheel doesn't really do this now, but sometimes when I scroll it just 1 click while browsing a website, the page doesn't move at all. It's like that 1 click movement never happened.
This wheel is definitively the worst I have ever used. Extremely unstable very annoying. It just decides on its own when it wants to work or not.
I'm considering finally RMA this mouse....

I'm having the same issue with my X5. When I scroll up it sometimes scrolls down instead.
Shame as I really like this mouse.

Same here. Recevied couple of days ago via amazon. Plugged it in today and.. scroll wheel is a disaster. Skipping and scrolling up when it supposed to scroll down.

Still no solution??

I bought my X5 mouse with a promo when buying an EVGA power supply. It had the scroll issue right away but since I didn't really need it, took a long time to RMA it. Did that a couple weeks ago. Replacement has the scroll issue and was able to reproduce it right away. Had a firmware update available and still did it after that update. Got a new replacement right away and immediately noticed the scroll issue. I'm not even going to bother now. I'll stick with mice that are....logical tech.....

Still, disappointing we aren't even getting updates here when we were at the beginning. They said the issue had been reproduced but then.....nothing.

I got the mouse recently and I'm having the same scroll wheel issue. I love the mouse, but I need a functioning scroll wheel. Has anyone figured out a way to fix the problem or should I just try to RMA?

I just tested the wheel messages sent to an app using Spy++ from Microsoft. It proves that at least spinning the wheel in one direction, things go wrong.
All good instead in the other direction.

I sent the full file to support. Here I post just a small section where you can see that once in a while the scroll message has the opposite direction.

<000013> 0000000000020490 P WM_MOUSEWHEEL fwKeys:0000 zDelta:-120 xPos:788 yPos:607

<000023> 0000000000020490 P WM_MOUSEWHEEL fwKeys:0000 zDelta:-120 xPos:788 yPos:607

All those zDelta are  supposed to be -120, but a bunch of +120 are retuned too, causing random back-scrolling.
Spinning in the other direction instead reports perfectly consistent zDeltas.

This doesn't really tell if it's a HW or SW issue. It just proves that there is an issue :)

(language removed) This thread (and issue) is 1.5 years old and yet this same mouse was featured during the Christmas sale.  It was a bargain.  Now it's just useless.  So how is EVGA's return policy?

Edit - The EVGA Christmas sale also featured the Torq X10 Carbon.  That's the mouse I'm using now and it's working perfectly.  It's a shame the x5 has a fatal flaw.  I prefer it over the X10 Carbon.  The x5 has a minimalistic design that is really sharp when the LEDs are lit.  Also, the x5 thumb "back" button is better.  The X10 back buttons are too prominent and it makes hitting the "forward" button an overly deliberate act.

As of yesterday, product support is asking for some more time to send me a firmware update. Hope to hear from them soon.
If that works, I'm sure the update can be posted for everyone.

I asked if they had an ETA for a firmware update, but they said they didn't. I started the RMA process.
Hopefully it's just a defective wheel and the replacement works fine.

I have to give kudos to EVGA support. They respond quickly, efficiently and to the point.

They asked 3 (Deleted for Foul Language) times for me to flash the firmware of the optical version (mine is the laser one), but the .exe wont let me. And they keep asking me for that over and over ignoring my replies with screenshots of the popup saying: "you cant flash this firmware in this device". Quickly? Yes, but my god, not efficiently at all.

Re: Torq mx5 scrolling issue 2017/02/10 17:03:24 (permalink)
Well, I got my mouse exchanged and the new one is definitely better. I still get a wrong scroll message once in a while (maybe every 200 clicks or so, based on Spy++) so I hope that a firmware update in the future makes it perfect. In the meantime I can live with this.

But the scroll wheel is smooth in one direction, and rough in the other. A bit annoying. Sometimes seems like it's stuck and need some extra effort to keep rolling. Wonder if I should get some WD40 in there...

There are definitely some manufacturing or quality controls issues here. Hope EVGA takes note.

You seriously need to fix this annoying problem that basically makes these mice unuseable. I've a TORQ X5L gaming mouse with this problem (decribed by mardel) and the last Driver Version 1.0.17 is stuck in 7/6/2015 while the last firmware is the 41th. Just to let the others know, this problem seems to be less evident with a USB 2.0 port.
Unapceptable silence from a company like EVGA.

EVGA you guys really need to pay attention. I am on my second mouse from you guys. I RMA'd the first because it died. Get this issue fixed NOW! This has been going on for how many years and even the mods don't pay attention to this thread anymore. I am fed up and will buy a replacement mouse from a different company. I would buy a different video card but right now the data miners have everything out of stock. Used to respect EVGA but after seeing how this support goes, not buying anymore of their stuff.

ZUELSTED
I have a TORQ X5 Mouse and when I scroll down with the scroll wheel it jumps down a line or two then jumps back to the top of the page. Scrolling up work fine with no issue. I have EVGA Unleash ver.1.012 installed.
How I can fix this? I want to scroll up and down the IE pages like a normal mouse.

A week ago I bought a Torq-X5L. The problem with the wheelscroll also affects my mouse and it not only affects the navigation, but also when I play.
I'm not sure, but it may be a problem caused by the Unleash software. Every time I start the system, a registry key is created:

  "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ 潃 瑮 潲 慐 敮 屬 敄 歳 潴 p]
"WheelScrollLines" = "6"

When I deleted that key and closed Unleash, the wheel works fine.
I have noticed that there are other registry keys that refer to "WhellScrollLines" but they are from the Windows system.
Is it possible that they make a conflict and this key created by the EVGA software is unnecessary? If so, the number of rows of wheel displacement can be selected directly from the options of the mouse in windows, it is not necessary that there is also an option in Unleash.

To say also that it would not be bad to have a guide for the configuration, especially for the creation of macro and the use of Lift-Off Distance in the different surface or MousePad.

Finally, I would like to know if it is normal that the "Sensor Calibration" does not work with the X5L.
I hope my contributions will be useful.

OS: Windows 10 Pro 64bit
FW. Ver. 41
SW. 1.0.17

Thanks for your attention.
