I'm looking forward to a new build, with what I hope will be the EVGA z590 dark, in the next month or so. I already have most of the hardware for my new system, and am basically waiting on the motherboard and CPU at this point.
I was originally going to go with the i9-11900k, but it seems to be basically the same chip as the i7-11700k, just binned better...
In the end I don't mind paying the extra money, even though it kind of sounds dumb compared to previous generation differences of i9 vs i7.
I am looking to do some overclocking with a custom loop; that has me slightly leaning towards the i9 as I'd likely see better performance there.
The other factor I'm thinking of is availability based off of supply/demand.
I'm guessing that people will see the i9 as a waste of money because of the same specs minus the clock speeds.
As such it might turn out that this time around the i7's that sell out first, before the i9s.
However, there may be a larger supply of i7's on release. I've been able to buy my CPU's on release day in the past; this time around has me worried with all of the shortages and extreme demand.
AMD will also play into this release as they've been able to provide a very strong showing recently, gaining new customers with Zen.
Curious to see your thoughts on the upcoming release as well.
