And I don't want to pick on EVGA alone. There are a few others out there that are just as homely or worse. The Blower/Reference cards still look mostly decent. But even there random and odd angles were added to the mix.
Not a fan of the new look, but then it's not the looks that would completely sway my decision on what I purchased.
And yes, I realize that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Besides, the Hydrocopper cards still look good.

I said the same thing back in the 90s when cars started getting curvy. So ugly!
Then they grew on me.
Bah dah ba daaaaah, LIFE! (hey, at least a GPU can be easily hidden inside of a case, under a desk!)

I would not call them "ugly", but I bought a 1080 Ti FE this time and I paid more for it than the iCX-variant... I had a 980 Ti SC+ ACX 2.0+ before and I really liked the mature design of it. Normally, I sell my stuff, but I keep that card because of the oc-character and the aesthetics. - Pascal is something like perfect, but perfection is boring.  Edit:...

The 1070 FTW2 is going to look great in my new RGB build with the reflective silver highlights and nice backplate. It looks like a very well ventilated card.

Pretty much everything up to the Ti's aren't horrible. A bit blocky, but overall not to bad. But when comparing the new shrouds against the 900 shrouds? The 9's look better.
The 1080 Ti's however... They're ugly.

They go in my big, black, closed case. I don't care what they look like as long as they work :P RGB? Get rid of that garbage. Function over form! haha.

I am inclined to agree that most of the card/cooler aesthetics are atrocious in comparison to previous generations.
However, I have come to love the look of the 1080Ti FTW3. I can't say I felt the same before I got to see it in person and installed in my system, though.

I like them... but then again, the only thing I see is the Backplate and the front LED. Better then the 500 series

The design of the shrouds grew on me after a while. Though, that said, I have yet to buy one. Still debating on a 1080 FTW2 or a 1080 TI FTW3. Though, if I got a 1080 TI FTW Elite in blue with a vertical GPU bracket in a Cooler Master H500P and an X299 FTW K, that'd look pretty nice, IMO.

I think the 10xx series are some of the best looking ever ...the rivet looks, the badging & mesh accents  but the newer "Ti" variants are just such a huge difference in looks , it is 'jarring' and takes a bit to get used to, but they are awesome in there own way and the backplates are cooler also

I've had a lot of GPU's go through my cases over the last 20 years that I've been playing with computers and the 1080Ti FTW3 has quickly become one of my all time favorites. Not just because of the sheer power of the GPU, but for how well EVGA has nailed down the cooling of this card in 2 slot form factor. I'm an air cooling enthusiast and I simply LOVE this thing.
As you said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this baby's got my eye.

I do prefer the old ACX looks, the design was just so 'smooth'. Anyway I wouldn't call the ICX ugly, either.

I was hoping I'd eventually like the look of my 1080tis but unfortunately my dislike for them has increased. My main complaints are the ridiculous size of the EVGA GEFORCE GTX 1080TI logo as well as the implementation of the LEDs themselves. Either the acrylic used for the logo is opague or there is a coating that softens the amount of light as well as slightly alters the color. I know this is all personal taste but when I set 0,0,255 I shouldn't have 3 different shades of blue being produced from the card because the Logo, Fin and Thermal LEDs do not match. The FTW3 logo should also have at minimum an individual on/off control.

I agree I think the newer cards look great. I like the 1080ti FTW3 quite a bit so much that i hate to pull the cooler off for a waterblock, especially when comparing it to the 1080 FTW cards these are replacing. The Ti is quite a bit prettier, however I am kind of odd as I don't care too much as they are face down doing there thing in my system.

I have a Voodoo 6000. Now that was a classy card. It's so rare I wouldn't part with it even after all these years. It was amazing back in the day playing the original Tribes with FSAA 4X turned on and still getting a good frame rate.
