Might want to think about that before you pull the trigger. Sli is disabled in all dx11 games (Implicit sli) on ampere. Only certain dx12/Vulkan games will work at this time...

How you gonna buy 2 when your site is such trash can't even buy one. Sat at finalizing order for 40 mins this morning clicking place order for the product to finally go out of stock. Great job!

RIP SLI Profiles, not sure what the actual logic behind it is, beyond being a final nail in the coffin of SLI support.

You say “your” as if he works for NVidia or EVGA. He is just a user like you. He doesn’t work for NVidia or EVGA, and doesn’t get a choice in how EVGA limits sales.

He provided you with a link that provides necessary information for all users assuming SLI will work, which I thought would work, and clearly doesn’t.

SLI is for benchmarking and (some) work environments only now I suppose?

    Thanks for the reads.

Don’t know if sli is going to work in 3dmark atm.

Edit: Just looked at the 3dmark leaderboard. Looks like 3090 sli works there.

This. Since SLI profiles have been removed, will there be a way to enable the NVlink connection for benchmarks?

Perhaps I am misunderstanding their stance on this, but it is up to the developers to implement it now, correct? So 3DMark would need to produce an update that integrates SLI support?

3D Mark seems to be very forward with supporting gamers and benchers. I am very happy to hear the 3D Mark is on top of it.

Benchmarks are great and all, but if I can’t edit profiles to try and get older/newer games working I’ll just stick to single card. There is single card hof too. 😁

This biggest problem is there is no way to override this behavior. Profiles allowed us to hack solutions together. Now, you must rely on the developer (read this as EXTREMELY UNLIKELY)

I think your post is a bit of hyperbole.

they are not REMOVING any SLI profiles. they are just not adding any more.

NVIDIA will no longer be adding new SLI driver profiles

Existing SLI driver profiles will continue to be tested and maintained for SLI-ready RTX 20 Series and earlier GPUs

all the games that have SLI profiles will continue to have them

    Rig1: EPYC 7V12 | [4] RTX A4000
    Rig2: EPYC 7B12 | [5] 3080Ti + [2] 2080Ti

SLI 3090 for video gaming seems like the biggest waste of money possible. It was always buggy with video gaming and the margin gain is bound to be really low.

TBH, I'm not terribly surprised here. SLI support has been terrible, has been ever since the 10 series.

My wallet is happy that SLI is finally dead, but the enthusiast side of me wishes it was alive and well. Just imagine if we were able to get something like 70-90% scaling in games with two 3090s! If that were the case, I'd buy two 3090s in a heart beat (that is if you could actually find two 3090s in stock).

But back to reality, SLI has been dead for at least 4 years, Ampere is only putting the final nail in the coffin.

I would like a "dark" motherboard with a single PCIe 4.0 slot.  I haven't needed or used a second one for anything in years.  SLI being dead and all.

Given the power requirements of the 3080/3090 and the physical size of these monsters, I don't believe Nvidia intends for this to be an option.

I think they do for AI and other edge use cases. I'm sure CERN, IBM or some other enterprise could chain a bunch of 3090s together lol
