I recently got an RTX 2080, and it was underperforming in games. After trying everything (and I really mean everything) some one suggested that my single 8 pin to 8 X 2 pin cable might not be providing enough power. I plugged in two separate VGA Gen 3 8 to 8 cables, but the Graphics card pin connector lights up when I connect them (indicating no power). Why is this? Aren't Gen 3 VGA cables meant to power graphics cards?

Sounds like one of the cables is faulty, or one or both may not be fully seated.

I agree with Sajin; that configuration should power the card without issues and it is a general community consensus that 2 separate cables are better for the card. Regards, Alan EVGA

1) Make sure the plastic connector is fully seated -- the Latch will be locked onto the card socked when fully seated - sometimes the connector get tight before it is fully seated & locked 2) Look to see if one of the wire connectors is slightly pushed out of the Plastic connector on the cable - I press on the wires, when seating those PCIe connectors & support the Video Card at the connector

Since I only have 2 VGA 3 gen 8 to 8 connectors, and one of them may be faulty, can I use one of the 8 to 2X8 connectors on one slot (ex. I'd only be using one of the 8 connectors for the split cable, and then the other GPU slot would be connected by a regular 8 to 8)?

Ok, I just tried every combination of VGA cables and none of them work! Only PCIE cables work. What gives? Edit: I plugged in my old graphics card to confirm that it wasn't the new graphics card, and I can confirm. The VGA power cables don't work at all, no matter which ones I use in any combo.

RMA what? I've had this PSU for 2 years, lol. And it's just the VGA cables. Everything else works swimmingly. Right now I have two split PCIE cables plugged into my graphics card. I'm basically only using half of each and tying the other halves down. Hopefully that's enough?

Contact EVGA & get your "bad" cables exchanged --> most PSU have long warranties guess I misunderstood your post #6 ??? InsaneRuffles Ok, I just tried every combination of VGA cables and none of them work! Only PCIE cables work. What gives?

I have around 5 different VGA cables that I have interchanged. It seems unlikely that all of them would be bad. More like my PSU or Graphics card doesn't want to accept them? IDK whats going on.

NO -- BAD idea - unless you confirm they are compatible First Different PSU have Different Pin-out at the PSU Do Not Mix cables between Power Supplies --- it Can Lets the Smoke out Only use cable that came with a PSU - or - Before using them - confirm they will work without frying your hardware

They are from the same PSU.
