I'm starting to think about keeping my SSC.
I just received my backplate, the coil whine is mostly gone, card is silent and runs anything at 1080p...

Plus I won't have to send my card and wait for the FTW to come home...what to do, what to do... :P

I feel ya, I'm debating about keeping the card I have, Price has dropped by $140 since I bought it so I could grab another for 2 way SLI.  I'm not in a rush though as I'm still weighing my options on a new monitor.

You have been pending for that long!?!? Holy crap. Maybe I should just return the card to Newegg instead of waiting for a step up...

Wait a bit more, I applied back on September 19th and finally things are moving this week, so probably you will get your status changed too.

I made my payment today via PayPal. Unfortunately the "view pdf" and "send by mail" buttons to get shipment details do not work. So I have no adress to ship to so far...

Hmm, wonder why folks later in line are getting theirs earlier.  Maybe it's due to the location?  I'm in the states.

Generally, a buyer has 90 days of submitting the Step-up program.
Is it recommended to do it at the end of the 90 days period, so we have more time to wait for newer cards? anyone?

Well yeah, of course. If you can wait until day 89 there's always the possibility of an 8GB card or some other option making it on the Step Up list. Just depends if you are able to wait, there's definitely no drawback to doing this.

thanks for confirming this man. I'll probably wait till the third month and see if the step up is worth it.

I opted out for now since I still have 53 days to start a step-up.  My SSC has enough juice to run everything I throw at it.  It'll do for the time being and maybe when I start a new step-up in 50 days i'll jump on a 980...who knows!

So I guess no free games for us in the StepUp program, called the customer service and that is what I got, I thought every card from the program is considered a new purchase, maybe I was wrong.

I would just consider the step-up program a huge bonus in and of itself and be happy.

Lol, should I sent EVGA a basket of goodies too. Every new card after 11/4 should receive the free game, after all the StepUp was not free, we had to pay money for that.

The step-up was not free? Thats because they let you pay for a better card, and are taking your old used card back. They don't have to at all, much less for "free." I fail to see which part of that results in a free game...

Than I am OK with removing the program, its all or nothing, I don't see what is the problem asking for a game that they get thousands from nVidia for free, if the new card comes with all new warranty and is considered a new purchase, should fallow the same logic.

Finally??!?!?   Most of the US 980 Step up people have been waiting since 9/22/14.  Your enthusiasm for a little over one week of waiting is .  I'm happy you were able to get your new card in a timely fashion but remember some of us have been waiting for over a month and a half and we are sad .
