Daviddswenson Interesting they are releasing after the chips. Although probably won’t be able to get one when intel actually drops them anyways.
I don't want to be Mr. Doom and Gloom but based on very early benchmarks, people probably wont be flocking to get the 11the gen chips anyway
Hoping to be proven wrong.
Yup so far benchmarks show 11 series as a dud sidegrade. I just want PCIE 4.0, if I could do that with a 9900K I wouldn't be looking for an "upgrade." Also considering the 5800X now instead because it's available, has PCIE 4 and beats the 11700K in gaming. Hell the 10700K and 9900K beat the 11700K in gaming benchmarks, just check out the Anandtech review.
I mean I’m expecting world shattering performance either but I think when actually released they’ll be the best gaming chips. I’ve been in the market for a new rig, rip gpu stock; so I hope they are not priced stupid high and can actually be purchased.
They're not, find out for yourself: https://www.anandtech.com...g-off-with-rocket-lake
11700k and 11900K are identical, slightly higher stock clocks on the 11900K, but nothing else is different about them.
Prices leaked: 11900K $599 11700K $484
I meant I’m not expecting, sorry for the mistype. However I don’t trust the early benchmarks or those prices. I’ll evaluate it all in a month.
They aren't leaks, it's a retail purchased cpu by anandtech with legit benchmarks.

They can’t release the board used for NDA reasons, fine with that; however they also state In that same comment the are not using the BIOS that is expected to be used at launch. I see very little value in evaluating a benchmark using the wrong BIOS and 100% would not call them legit benchmarks in that case.

I would agree with you if Anandtech didn't actually see the 19% IPC improvement that Intel claimed to have, but they did see it which would indicate the processor is performing as expected, no better no less. "In the FP scores, there’s nothing standing out too much, with general even improvements across the board. The total improvement here is +16.5%, with the IPC improvement in the +19% range.
To validate Intel’s claims here, we run our industry standard benchmarks, such as SPEC, and compare the i7-10700K to the i7-11700K. Though this testing, we can confirm that Intel is correct on that +19% claim, however that isn’t an overall performance uplift and there’s a big asterisk next to that number. All workloads at their core, even when browsing the web or word processing, can be split into integer (whole numbers, most workloads) and floating point (numbers with decimal places, workloads with math). In our testing, we saw the following:
Single thread floating point: +19.0% Multi-thread floating point: +19.5%
Although the new Cypress Cove cores in the 11700K do have good generational IPC improvements, that’s all compared to the quite old predecessor, meaning that for single-thread performance, the advancements aren’t enough to quite keep up with the latest Zen3 competition from AMD, or for that matter, the Firestorm cores in Apple’s new M1."

I’m a little confused how you could see the IPC uptick but no performance gain. Isn’t it going to directly impact something like FPS at the very least unless you’re dealing with bad drivers/bios type issues. This is a little beyond my understanding of chips. I guess at the heart of it if IPC increase Doesn’t do anything for performance why does IPC even matter In the first place.

my understanding would be if IPC gained 20% but clock speed went down 20% net change is nothing. But clock speed is the same between gens. I’m missing something here I feel like.

I wonder if I will even be able to snag an EVGA Z590 board when released. Seeing how the video card sales have been makes me wonder. Hopefully EVGA will have some sort of pre-announcement so I can at least try my luck when launched. Either way, I am excited for these new motherboards! I can't wait to finish my build.

It would be nice if Intel would allow Raid setups with other brands of M2's without the need to use their M2's instead for Raid instead.

Please allow people to turn spread spectrum off completely. Lack of this setting on your previous motherboards from dark series was really disappointing. For that reason I had to go with a motherboard from a different manufacturer.

Yeah, a lot of cheaper boards have this option :/ Unfortunately dark, made for overclockers doesn't. I agree it's disappointing.

Nike_7688 Jacob just responded to someone with "April/May" on Twitter when asked about z590 availability.

Sigh. First it was March, then late March, then early April... now all of the sudden it's April/May? - and this is while ASUS and others have had their Z590 boards available on Newegg etc. for weeks (or longer) already? Wow.. not a good look, I can only wonder if there's something wrong with the boards in that case, just like the 3000 series HydroCopper blocks.

Maybe they're waiting for Intel to stop updating the microcode and optimize the bios? lol idk.

Well they announced the release date for the 11th gen Intel CPUs, if they were waiting for that, it'd be ready after march 30th. Which I guess April/May is after that so... still, wonder how the motherboards will be in the end.

Minus the use of the word "bro", I can echo what this individual has said (no offense lol). I have been an EVGA customer since 2007 (680i motherboard and pair of 8800GTX GPUs ). I have built many computers since then for myself and others and while I've used plenty of other brand parts when necessary, nothing else out there I've used has been as well built and reliable as EVGA parts. I've used their customer service for two issues, one wasn't even their fault, but they still helped me find a solution. I've interacted with Jacob a few times over the years for things I was curious about or needed help with and he's been fantastic too. I have found in the past that they are not always the first to market with things, but usually, when their GPUs and Motherboards launch, they are top notch. When they've had problems, they stood by them and took care of people. Somehow, they keep their prices much better than Asus and some of the others and I bet a part of the strategy is to try and keep RMAs to an absolute minimum. Bearing that in mind, I'd like to point out that Rocket-Lake is a very hot and power-hungry CPU compared to most non HEDT CPUs and EVGA knows they are going to be looked at for OC-dominance by their customers. They need to be very careful and make sure that every part of their designs are as rugged, reliable, and problem-free as possible on release. If they need to take an extra few weeks to do that before shipping them to the world, I'll gladly wait.

lol. I'm 34. Now, "dude" I would say. "Bro" was more of a city thing or jock thing (neither of which I am a part of) where I'm from (north-east US). Sometimes I call my brother "broseph", but it is intended to make him laugh. I hope my attempt at humor didn't offend, just thought it was funny at the time to be like "I like what he said...but I wouldn't have said that part".

Bro & Dude ..you're preaching to the choir regarding EVGA quality and support, and that is not what I was talking about, nor was I casting any shade on that. The issue is the fact that the expected release date keeps getting pushed out. That is due to either supply constraints or issues with their design, be it hardware or software. You don't need to go all defensive hater fan-boy on me.. I'm one of you, so you chill out, lol. The same thing happened (and continues to happen) with the 3000 series Hydro Copper blocks, and EVGA confirmed there were issues. I'm glad they are dealing with those rather than releasing a sub-standard product, and that's what they should do, but it is frustrating when other good fabricators have had their Z590 products on the market for some time already, and EVGA keep pushing it out, now apparently well beyond the CPU release date. ASUS might have crap after-sale service, but as far as their HEDT motherboards go, they are very very good at what they do. Last but not least, it's frustrating to me because that Z590 Dark is freaking beautiful, and I want one! lmao... First World Problems yo.

Nereus Bro & Dude ..you're preaching to the choir regarding EVGA quality and support, and that is not what I was talking about, nor was I casting any shade on that.
I completely understand! Sorry, I wasn't suggesting you were hating or casting shade or whatever (now I do feel old). I'm in the same boat. If you look at my signature, you can see that I'm due for a CPU upgrade (5820k more than still earns its keep though lol). I'm...quite ready for a new CPU/Motherboard. I just keep telling myself I've waited this long, no need to suddenly get impatient. My soap-box or whatever about their quality was more intended for others that come in and read the forums not knowing much about EVGA or having much experience with this stuff. I can see you've been here quite a while and have a million posts. All good, friend. Definitely first world problems though because I WANTS IT! lol

Do we have a date yet? I'd like to get one of these over the ASUS ones.

EVGA is ALWAYS last to market with new motherboard designs. If you can't wait, get another brand. If you want the best warranty support and production design, wait for EVGA. When I built a quick replacement PC in 2012, I couldn't wait and bought another brand. Guess which part was the first to fail in that PC?
