Tom's review shows some stock vs. overclock results for the 11900k and 11600k vs AMD's offerings. Not only is the overclocked 11600k impressive, but I'm also excited to replicate (or exceed) their 11900k overclock as soon as I can get my hands on EVGA's z590 here. My 11900k is supposedly being packaged and shipped today.

Update just now on twitch from Jacob! Z590 FTW will be out mid-April, Z590 Dark shortly after that. EDIT: I also asked if there will be an Elite notify list for Z590 boards, or just open free-for-all. Answer: not determined yet. edited again to highlighted info

Very serious opponent you know! Im even begin think about choose between this two monsters - OCF and Dark. Both better then Apex (my 2 cents ).

Ya I saw the stream where he said mid April too! Now I have to decide to possibly hold a bad 11gen cpu past the store return and deal with intel rma or buy a different MB....

I think its a huge missed opportunity to not launch the new z590 along side the 11th gen Intel launch. Those waiting for the chip will of course want a board to mount it to, and I get a sense that many are not going to wait for a later launch. Especially when almost every other vendor already has 590 boards available to buy. Granted it may be an issue with getting the boards built and the whole tech supply issue, in which case I feel for EVGA, but still... it would have been good for business to have a board available at launch. As someone who pre-ordered an 11th gen chip, I am of course a little disappointed EVGA is still weeks away from an offer. So some of my criticality comes from that aspect. I also have a discount code that I can maybe apply when the board finally goes live, so hopefully it will be both cheaper than other boards currently available, and worth the wait.

Really good point about having to wait beyond CPU return period. Newegg has a 30 day return period for replacement policy on that CPU, so it's really going to be cutting it close, I just hope EVGA don't start extending the delay out further again for the Z590 boards as has happened with so many other products (this is of course assuming the boards don't sell out in a nanosecond). On the positive side, I don't think I've ever had to return a CPU over the last decade or more. This site was not responding for a while around 9am PDT today - I'm guessing that was due to bots hitting the site for a possible product drop, perhaps for the Z590 since the i9-11900k launched today ...not a good sign if that was the case. I agree - huge missed opportunity not launching with the CPU (or before it). At least a notify queue would have been something.

I'm still trying to find a 5950X and an MSI x570 Godlike for MSRP... if I still can't get either by the time these boards get released, I'll just go with one of them instead.

Hi, I bought an I9 11900 non k today, I really want to build a system using the Z590 FTW board. Why did the board not launch when the chips did? With the current market issues, I hope that I can build out in the next 2 months.

Well just read/watched reviews of the the 11900k and there were not good; some 11900k benches are even worst then the 10900k. I wanted to upgrade my MB Z390 to the Z590, but I am not sure if it is worth it now.

Yeah, I think if I had 8700k or better, I'd wait lol (or go AMD). I'm on a 5820k, so I'm excited to make the jump. From what I've seen in the reviews (I've watched/read several at this point), its performance seems to be entirely dependent on what memory settings/timings you use and power limit you allow. Looks like the goal is 3733MHz gear 1 (1:1) mode and tightest timings possible, plus enough cooling to let it run north of 250W. The other unknown is if any motherboard manufacturers (here's lookin at you EVGA) can get the gear 1 memory setting to work at speeds higher than 3733MHz or if that's a CPU memory controller hard limit. Some reviewers used boards that couldn't even hit 3600MHz on gear 1, which shows there's a little motherboard-dependent variation, but most top out at 3733, which makes me think it may be hard limit. Still unknown if there's a speed at gear 2 where going much higher makes sense. Not worth it up to 4800MHz from what I've seen online so far. G.Skill's 5033 2x16GB kit or their 5333 8GB/dimm kits they've announced may actually show benefits again, but who knows.

I'm upgrading from a Z370 micro with 8700k. I'll be replacing it with a 11700k but one of the main things I was going to use was the Thunderbolt feature. The 11900k looks like a scalpers dream and joke of a performer though, I almost went with a 11600k since the performance is so close to the 11700k. The only reason why I didn't go with the 11600k over the 11700k is its literally showing up this afternoon at my front door. Where are the Z590 boards from EVGA? it pretty absurd to have the chips out and not launch a board in time. Id like to stick with EVGA for motherboards since the Bios/UEFI is so much more pleasant to work with than ASUS and its not full of RGB puke or decor to match a 13 yo boys gaming room. That being said, even if they dont launch it would be nice to have a clear answer as to when they will be here or be available for preorder at least... I hope they werent stuck in the straight of Hormuz :)

OC Formula - Middle of Q2 (Guessing May) I would be shocked if it is not more expensive, yet not shocked if it were cheaper. Probably the better board, but ASrock don't usually price their brand that high.

Reviews are not great on the i9-11900k (some excessively harsh), but I'm still going for it. On the positive side, negative reviews may reduce demand for the CPU and motherboards.

Any reason why? Don't like AMD platforms? I am still undecided...AMD or Intel, despite the bad reviews of the 11900k.
A number of reasons, some of which are specific to my situation. AMD means the additional expense of buying a new motherboard, whereas with Intel I probably have enough EVGA Bucks to cover most of a new Z590 motherboard (although prices are yet to be announced). Also, EVGA have been good to me for years and have amazing after-sale service if needed, so that has some influence. If EVGA put out AMD boards, I would switch, or at least I would try out an AMD motherboard & CPU rig for sure. The 11900K clearly will run hot, and is quite expensive for what it is, however I just built a new water loop so that should help counter the heat concern, and the expense issue I just covered. Also keep in mind that trying to find any HEDT AMD offerings anywhere at normal retail price is pretty much impossible - you'll end up paying far more for it because scalpers are the only ones selling. I am also a little suspect of some of the reviews - I get the impression most were tepid on the 11900k (particularly on the price and rightly so), but as soon as the big-namers like GN started heavily bashing it, some of the others appeared to just pile on like sheep rather than being objective - one I saw specifically said they didn't even bother doing a lot of tests because they believed it was crap before they even got the CPU, which is ridiculous. At this point, yes, the AMD offerings at the high end are better value, particularly if you utilize high core counts. Gaming is a mixed bag between the two, depending whose reviews you watch lol. It's been many many years since I've built an AMD rig, so I guess it also just comes down to sticking with what I'm used to, which isn't really a valid stance practically speaking, but it is what it is. As I've said elsewhere, I kind of think this CPU series was released in part so Intel could say they now offer PCIe 4.0 (and 4 extra lanes over their past releases). I certainly do not think it is nearly as bad as some are making it out to be. Mob rules these days though, right...

AMD if you can find normal prices. 10850K/11600K with the former probably the best to buy. 11700/900K are just crap buys.

My 11900K arrived today. PCIE 4.0 is what I want, the 11900K gives me more thermal room. I have no interest in attempting to get super expensive DDR5 RAM when the scalper's bots go after early adopters for the next gen. And I put as much faith in reviewers as they deserve.

This guy gets it. Different motherboard of course, because we haven't seen anything other than the "coming soon" article from EVGA, but I'm hoping to be able to do similar levels of overclocking. My 11900k, memory, cooler, and fresh paste (trying some PK3, which is new to me) are sitting at home now ready to go. This guy's explanation at the end is exactly what I've been saying. I understand the AMD chips are more efficient, but I'm ready to take the training wheels off and let 'er rip.

After seeing the absolute garbage reviews for the 11th Gen Intel CPUs, I've already got AMD stuff on the way. Kinda glad seeing as the stock on Intel's stuff is apparently not great and eVGA boards for some reason still aren't out yet. Reeeally makes me wish eVGA made X570 boards though. I "settled" for an Asus X570 Hero that I got at a really good (normal) price. I might end up doing an 11th Gen/Z590 build for someone else, so hopefully the eVGA Z590 Dark will be out by then.

Nereus Update just now on twitch from Jacob! Z590 FTW will be out mid-April, Z590 Dark shortly after that. EDIT: I also asked if there will be an Elite notify list for Z590 boards, or just open free-for-all. Answer: not determined yet. edited again to highlighted info
Luumi posted a youtube video with some first impressions of 11900k on the Z590 Dark. We're close.

Nice. Link for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwJrO31UFRo If I heard it correctly, daily use 5.2GHz on all cores on water was stable.

Not sure he did much with per-core OC yet. Seems like he only did some brief testing. I've seen several folks (including the other video I posted) where they were getting 5.4-5.5GHz on 1-2 cores, then 5.3 on up to 4, then 5.1-5.2 on the last 4. Several even had decently low temps on non-AVX loads at that. If you're going to be running Prime95 with AVX loads...it'll get HOT lol.

Yeah I've seen the 5.5GHz stable as you said (on standard water loop). I think people may have been a bit quick to jump on the hate bus over this CPU.
