They are all honestly fine. They are all overbuilt and all massive and they also all clock about the same regardless of "premium" model to base model. My advice is to get whatever one you can for the cheapest price.

4090 FE. It's not quite as good as the nearly $2000 models, but the power phases and cooling are close enough to easily justify the base $1599 price tag. It can still pull over 600W when overclocked and power set to max, and it can cool itself just fine (stock voltage and power limit, overclocked +150 ±1000 I see 50 to low 60C when gaming - e.g. a beast that is super quiet).

I went with Gigabyte OC earlier this week when I saw them come in stock at NewEgg at MSRP. So far have been more than pleased with this card. Nice bump up from my 3090 for sure.

Customer service is important for me and so was a key driving factor. I have bought EVGA cards for over a decade and had no experience with the other brands. I did some looking around and heard good and bad things about the different manufacturers and in the end choose the MSI 4090 Liquid Suprim X. I do not have it in hand yet but it should be here tomorrow.

Not sure the better built VRMs are worth $200-400 more honestly, and even those are not a guarantee you won't end up with bad coil whine. The 4090 FE is a better built card than the old 3090 FE. That being said, Gigabyte offers a 4-year warranty in some regions if you register their card, and warranty is king on such an expensive product IMO.

I am seeing used 40 series on eBay now, and I assume it's most likely the coil whine related ppl who could not return their cards due to failed scalping. seems to be just bad luck ...

I went with the Gigabyte OC because I really didn't want to have to play the coil whine game. I hate getting a card with loud coil whine and then having to return it. I also bought from New Egg and so I wasn't confident that I could exchange it for a new one if another brand had coil whine (because New Egg kind of sucks).

I decided to go with one of my 3 backup manufacturers, MSI & their 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio ($879 + tax = $949) - other 2 favorites for GPU's are Gigabyte & ASUS. I'd rather not pay extra just for a name, so I excluded ASUS since their equivalent GPU (similar design, similar GPU boost clock i.e. ROG Strix) is $1015 shipped, and carries the same 3 year warranty as MSI but is slightly slower with a boost clock of 2610MHz default / 2640MHz OC Vs the MSI's 2745MHz default / 2760MHz OC. In reviews of both cards, it seems the MSI card also runs cooler & quieter than the ASUS !!! Ran Fire Strike Extreme Stress Test https://www.3dmark.com/fsst/2311621 Averge clock 2746MHz - average temp 60C - maximum temp 63C all at stock settings!

I've read that it can dissipate over time. My 3090Ti FTW3 Ultra still screams like a banshee under certain loads, but either it made me partially deaf or it is dissipating a little, thankfully.

kraade I would have gone with the cheapest card, but availability got the best of me , SUPRIM (pronounced SUP-RIM) was what I could get , it puts up a fine synthetic score but it games the same as all of them . get the lowest priced card !!! they all do the same thing in game ! this NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 video card benchmark result - Intel Core i9-13900K Processor,Micro-Star International Co., Ltd. MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4 (MS-7D32) (3dmark.com) is ok but undervolted or low end is the same gaming experience , 3-7 FPS @ when above 140fps +/- = is completely irrelevant no matter the resolution.
Limiting availability is the only tool they have left in their bag to get people to buy the overpriced OC editions. I had to buy the OC TUF because that was all I could get. $200 extra for nothing except the ability to actually buy it. These cards all perform about the same at stock or if OCed in gaming. There is nothing gained by overvolting and overclocking this generation. And the best part is I only lose about ~1-2 FPS at most, sometimes 0 FPS, in games when undervolting but save a ton of electricity.
