Looks like the best Halloween movie this year.  Releases Oct 26th.  I will probably go see it.

I would love to see a Japanese remake of this with a American budget
American horror movies are lacking way too much in the scary department

I dunno, the scariest movie I ever saw for the longest time was the Exorcist.  Then came along The Grudge which was an American remake of the Jap version.  I think the Grudge is even scarier than the Exorcist.  I saw the Jap version later and think they have an edge on suspensefulness but not the overall presentation.  The Grudge 2 was just as scary.

American remakes of Japanese horror movies are weak sauce
The last good scary movie to me was Dawn of the Dead and even that is a remake

I expect it to be a horrible movie.  As for scary movies, the only ones I'd give that much credit to are the original Exorcist and The Shining.  I want to see Sinister, it's getting great reviews.  The first Silent Hill movie had good atmosphere, but they throw all of the great writing out the window.  The Silent Hill games, at least 1-3 and especially 2, have better and more creative writing than most movies.

I really dislike horror movies, personally...I like suspense, like the original Alien..but not outright horror..it's ..."Oh..we're getting picked off one by one! John, you go to the graveyard...Jim, you go the boat house. Jennifer, you go to the shower room and I'll go check out the root cellar"...just..meh

Yeah, horror movies tend to be the absolute worst movies out there, featuring the same clichés and predictable plot.  Strangely enough, horror games are usually the only ones with actual good writing and some originality in them... maybe for Halloween you guys should play some great horror games like Silent Hill 1-3, Resident Evil up to Zero, Penumbra series, Amnesia, Anna, and mods like Underhell, Cry of Fear, Nightmare House 2, Grey, etc.  I'm gonna try to replay Illbleed via an emulator, lol. The only horror movie I'd consider seeing is Sinister, critics tend to compare it to the original Exorcist.

Do yourself a favor and play those PC horror titles I listed with the lights off.  They're even scarier.

im definitely going to see this when it releases. I would rather it not be in 3D though. I love my 3D monitors for games, but hate 3D in the movie theaters. Either way i love the silent hill games and the last movie so this is a must see for me.

I also want to see sinister. That looks pretty good too.

I had to screen this movie last night to make sure it was all ready for opening day and, well, I didn't think it was very good. Some of the CG 3D stuff was really cool, but I didn't think it was scary at all. I've seen some movies that have made me jump, but this one just made me shake my head. If you're a big fan of the games it may be worth seeing, but otherwise I'd skip it. But that's just my opinion and opinions are like butts; everyone has one and most of them stink.

Same in my area... 3D most of the time is just blah for movies like this... It is only really good in sci fy movies.

I saw it last night in 3D.
First off i'll say for Fans of the First movie (raises hand) it's not any where near as good as the first one. But it does have a few moments that did make me smirk in  a small tinge of enjoyment.

3D- not that bad..  There are only a couple of the stupid "it's comeing out of the screen" moments but most the time they do a good job of more useing Depth of field effect..  Most intresting  though is the effect of the ASH falling down and the fog.. they did a good job there to make it really feel like your well standing there in terms of that effect.

Plot - Feels to Rushed.  They Do Explain  what would be the loop hole of how the daughter gets out from the Silent hill world  as it hints at they are trapted in it at the end of the first movie......(no crying spoiler if you have yet to see the first movie you had enough time to do so.)
IT pretty much follows more Silent hill 3 in terms of concept  and plot.  But not nearly as good of a Adaption as they did with the Silent Hill 1 movie (think thats cause they had the Writer from the games helping out with that movie's script)

Scare level -   almost none.    There are a couple moment that they have that are just the over used.. BOOO scares in it . some areas do manage to get a bit Creepy feeling in the movie but not any where near as good as the games and the first movie in my book.  one seen just made me want to go "oh i want a haunted house hall way just like that" but not much more

    Monsters -  Way to little.
Other than the known Nurses and Pyramid Head  there pretty much no monsters n the movie. which hell The first one had small amount of monsters as well but it had alot more than even this movie has.

In a Nut Shell ~ if you want to see a Horror movie in Theaters this week.   This would be one of the Weaker choices sadly.  It has a few moments that can make horror fans and game fans smirk a bit  and some rather cool scenery and shots (School and Mary go Round)  But unless you in the need to see it. I would Suggest wait till Rent time  or trick a friend who owes you money to go see it.

WOW! I guess I wont see it then. Well I will actually watch it but I wont pay to watch it. Everyone tells me that website is the best one to look over for movie reviews.

Oh god.. compare this to the Live Action RE movie and this looks like  The best movie in the world.. If you want to see one video game based movie this season make it this one.

Though the CG RE movie that Capcom made is good

Rotten tomatoes gave silent hill 1 low ratings and quite frankly I loved it. They give a lot of bad reviews in which the movie was great..

Watching part 1 right now for like the fifth time, got the air raid sirens pumped up on my home theater---Freaky---

You cant forget The Thing! And of course JAWS! JAWS is the reason why millions of people think twice before entering the ocean.

Seriously, Jaws and The Thing SUCKED.  Can't say the same to the Exorcist, Shining or Grudge.

Anyway, I got distracted with W8 launch this weekend and good thing.  This sequel SH3D has issues in the 'entertain me' dept

I personally saw demons that did not want to leave my grandma's house after she died.  They were not my friends though they entertained my grandma day and night. FYI, all ghosts are demons, fallen angels (not humans that died).   If you believe otherwise, you believe the LIE.

You don't have a soul that survives the death of your human flesh.  Oblivion is what exists after death with a 'hope' of resurrection in the FLESH if you have a faith. Jesus never resurrected anybody to heaven, rather on earth as a preview of his coming 1000 year reign.  That is why you don't hear any witness tales of Heaven/Hell for humans.  A *soul* tale that survives the death of the body is all a lie by the master liar of mankind.  That is why no hell raiser film ever got my goat.

My convicted belief is probably why the three movies I picked scare the crap out of me.  They are based in reality.  And yes, demons can overtake you and violently destroy your concepts of life.
