I was lucky enough to score a 3080 TI FTW3 Ultra from Best Buy today and even got a 10% discount thanks to promo code DEC22CCSAVE10. I was holding out for an EVGA card since this is the brand I always get, 980 TI and 1080 TI previously. My question is will the 3090 TI card be a step up option once its released?

    We have no idea. NVidia hasn’t even given. Release date for the 3090ti, all they said was more details later this month, and then radio silence. EVGA won’t comment on any product being added to step up until AFTER the “on shelf” release from NVidia, and not a moment before that.

    I'd probably stay with the x80 Ti line-up. But that's just me.

    ^^^^ Unless you really need 24G VRAM dont worry about it.....enjoy your 3080Ti....it really is a beast!

    Agreed. I’ve owned both x80 and x80 Ti models over the last few generations, and I honestly don’t think an extra 12 GB of VRAM would make that huge an impact for gaming. As it stands, the 3090 outperforms the 3080 Ti by something like 2-3%, again, for gaming. Not worth the upgrade/step-up price tag in my opinion.

    As someone who DOES use that 24gb of Vram, it is only worth it, if you use it, if you only game, 12gb is enough for now, but keep in mind, before I got the 3090, I had a 12gb Titan X, and I was pegging the Vram buffer (not in games though).
     
    From a gaming standpoint, the 3080ti will do you well for a while yet to come.

    I would use the 3080Ti and consider if you really want to step up since that 10% promo code you used to save off of the 3080Ti means more you have to pay for a step up.

    3080TI is a great card and really way better than 3090 or 3090TI price (tbe disclosed but will be over 2.5 grands for sure easy) if you are looking mainly to game and some video editing. 24gb vram is an overkill for anything other than some other workflows like mining, scientific software applications etc. Even if it is good to have 24gb vram, the price will be horrendous even for a step up. congratulations.

    Own the 80Ti and KPE. They are essentially the same at 4K ultra at stock settings. The 90 OCs better but I only put a mild OC on for gaming anyway.
    As others have said, not worth the upgrade unless you need the vram, want to mine, or want to tickle the tail of the dragon.
