the crazy thing is...people are still buying these at these crazy prices otherwise a scalper wouldn't be going to these lengths

That's actually low scalper prices for a 3090.  They were going for $2500+ standard last week.  They'll probably go back up as we get closer to Christmas.

When you add tax and shipping the card cost almost $1850 (newegg, amazon, bestbuy) , add Ebay and PayPal fees around $235, total would be $2,085 to get even

Buddy of mine just bought one a couple days ago, as he was tired of waiting for EVGA to get their shipments in. I hope he finds it worth it.
Frankly though, Nvidia needs to ramp up production; so as to prevent this from happening (IE: prevent people from running out of patience with companies like EVGA, MSI, etc)

I'm fairly certain the AMD 6900xt announcement killed that market.

As far as I am aware Samsung is making as many NVIDIA GPUs as it can at present. That amount should increase in the weeks to come.

Glad I was able to get my 3090 at retail price.  No extra fees either, other than shipping.

Not even a little bit, it will just make it worse, it'll add more cards to the mix, that's all.

I think the HW News indicating that NVidia will not have normalized supply until well in to 2021 is going to turn out to be accurate... like, by the time the Super/Ti variants come out, they might finally have a decent amount of stock & scalping will have died down enough.  Maybe.

I just hope I get a Hybrid card in a semi timely manner, thank goodness eVGA is doing the notify me system so at least you're going to get one "eventually" at retail, if you're patient.

Yeah, I'd never pay that for a 3090 on eBay, $1400-$1,799 was more than plenty

when you add Tax+ shipping at newegg, you be paying minimum around  $1610, there is no card at $1400

For some, it would be a 10% purchase sales tax + 10% Ebay fees + 5% Paypal fees = 25%, not incl. shipping so say +$30 would be around $2350 to break even.

Damn, that reminds me of a video I saw of some looters leaving a department store with arms full of stolen products only to get robbed on the way out. 2020 is crazy.

    No,

They will have to sell at break even prices with taxes that they purchased it at around $1600 or so because once December 8 hits, the 6900 XT will launch and at that point the scalpers lose because the supply of 3090 level performance will increase and honestly alot of people will go AMD just to be able to have a GPU at 3090 performance.

They will just turn the bots on AMD products as well and you'll see more of the same.

    Probably,

But it all depends on how much supply AMD has. AMD used TSMC instead of Samsung so if the supply is so huge that they can overcome scalpers then the demand will be met even with scalpers and normal customers included. We will see how it goes on December 8.

They are supposed to have enough to last for a couple hours on launch. Whatever thats worth. I imagine if you want one its possible to battle the site crashes for a couple hours and possibly get one. the 6900XT in an interesting option and I wouldnt mind having one to test out with my Zen processor, but if its completely aggravating I wont bother. I do not underestimate the greed of these people. It's easy money and they would much rather sit at home and scalp merchandise and resell it than be productive.

I'm still buying EVGA but it is nice to know that AMD is joining the supply. I always said to myself that the chances of actually buying a 3090 won't improve until AMD joins the market. So we will see a much greater supply of EVGA 3090's because less people will go with NVidia and instead go with AMD.  It's the first time in 10 years that I can't really fault AMD for not hitting the performance marks of the top tier NVidia card. The demand will be a big difference from Launch Day 1 to 2nd week of December 2020. All we have to do is sign up for the Auto-Notify and I am sure that the wait time for the Auto Notify will be less than the wait time for a day 1 launch auto-notify. Some users reported waiting 4 weeks to get the link to purchase for a Day 1 Launch Auto notify, so it might be 2 Weeks for an Auto Notify in December. Just my guess.

I agree with you. I'm staying with EVGA as they are an amazing company and this has become very clear by the way they have handled the Ampere launch. It's going to be interesting to see just how much product can get out to people from AMD. I really hope it speeds things up for the EVGA customers.

I'm not sure how this picture shows scalpers scalping other sellers? they all look to be from the same seller since they have the same timestamp card.

what are you trying to say exactly? the way your post comes across it sounds like you're saying that sellers are buying from other scalpers for a high price, then reselling for an even higher price. but nothing in this picture supports that theory. he's just selling higher end models for a higher price. I'm sure this seller bought all of these at the same time from whatever retailer his bot was able to get stock from.

I saw scalpers selling 3090s for $3000-4000 so even as outrageous as those prices are it doesn't surprise me.

There really should be laws against this though. Frankly we should make a campaign to contact our representatives/senators (in the US at least) to try to get a law added.

Sign up for that notify button fellas - that's the only viable scalperless option right now. It worked for me. F*ck scalpers.

Guess lucky for this one dude thats buying from me I got an xc3 in the mail yesterday but got my email from evga today for an ftw3, so I decided to sell my xc3 ultra. Letting it go for a bit higher $860 but I have $848 into the card between shipping and tax from Amazon no I do not have prime and selected a faster shipping time but I did add a little in there to cover my gas for meet up. I know I could have easily gotten $1,000 for it if I was a douche but im not a douche.
