bill1024 Thing is too, many people do not understand opinion commentator and real "News" Everyone should watch their local evening news. And they should watch national/world news. One America new is straight forward news. Fox and CNN give you commentary on how their side of the isle sees the world. It is important to see both sides. If you listen to only people you agree with is very closed minded and you will not learn new things It is like a domestic call to the police. There is his story, there is her story , and there is the truth. Really is three sides to a coin.
Completely incorrect. You can't treat a media outlet like a common domestic disturbance or altercation. The news is designed to mislead you. That is it's purpose. I saw reports on CNN showing pictures in a 2.5 minute video collage of all these poor Syrian protesters laying on the ground, bloodied and screaming. CNN depicted this as an atrocity carried out by the Syrian government on peaceful protesters. Then...I went to Liveleak. On that site they had a 30 minute video depicting the staging of this "heinous incident". Same people. Same faces. Same clothes. Same flags. These actors were shown casually laying down on the ground, someone pouring red syrup all over them and they then began to act. But in the collage video with the smoke it looked quite convincing. Do your research, people. Getting the opposing point of view of CNN vs. Fox is not enough. Matter of fact, if you watch EITHER of these sources and believe what they say, you are, in fact...a moron. If this offends you, your safe space is labeled Power. Press the button and pretend you're something you're not.
You pretty much nailed it on the head on this one. If anyone thinks they're going to get "all their news" from viewing "both sources", going from Fox to CNN (lolMSNBC), they're missing about 60% of the truth (I think that's being too generous). There is a lot of information such as Zerohedge, Next News Network, and Infowars provides that may not be put onto MSM. Honestly I avoid MSM; they're mostly cheerleaders that show what they want to show, a lot of it's fake. I'm going to check out that site you listed, I honestly never heard of it.

Be sure that you do check it out. But again be warned, this is not a locale on which individuals adhere to typically progressive orthodoxy. What you will find is the true nature of human kind. It's not pretty, but it is honest. And you don't want to tussle with these people if you're the proud owner of delicate sensibilities. The rhetoric is vicious, yet fascinatingly authentic. One thing it has taught me, though, is how utterly uninformed liberal progressives really are.

bill1024 So I figure I will check out liveleak. One of the first things I click on is a minute diatribe from no other than Keith Oberman. Who was even to far to the left for MSNBC, he was so bad he got fired from MSNBC That's bad. 5 minutes of my life I will never get back. So I check out some news from the middle East. First headline I see is UFO bomb Turkish group. Must be martians. OK It is satire, I hope. Then the next few clips look more like Jahadi recruitment videos. No context, seems more sympathetic to Shiite side but I am not sure really, hard to watch dirty scarggly bearded men with chicklets for teeth whose breath is so bad I can smell it way over here yelling "allahu akbar. god is greater" over and over. What ever side they were on, I am pretty sure it is not my side. Let them fight their civil war, keeps them busy and they have something to do. Less to clean up later. I guess to each their own, what ever floats your boat.
Yup.. started reading comments after seeing a guy get shot dead by robbers... Panzlock : "What you will find is the true nature of human kind. It's not pretty, but it is honest. And you don't want to tussle with these people if you're the proud owner of delicate sensibilities. The rhetoric is vicious, yet fascinatingly authentic." Sorry Panzlock, much like Bill1024, all I saw was a bunch of trolls who I do not represent the 'true nature of human kind'. I'd wager most of them were in their teens with the maturity of an 8 year old but the foul language of a 20 year old. There was nothing 'honest' or 'fascinatingly authentic' about it - these were what most people would consider sufferers of Aspergers Sundrome, with their utter lack of morality or compassion. I am far from having delicate sensibilities, I'm just not devoid of what separates humans from the rest of the animals on this planet. I also failed to see how this site was 'news'... but if it keeps the trolls too busy to infiltrate the rest of the internet more extensively, then great.

Once again I have to spoon feed. You're not digging. You saw something you don't like and you abandoned the source without hesitation. You do realize this mentality is in fact spilling over to other parts of the world, right? And here you are ignoring it because it doesn't affect YOU. Talk to some Europeans and what they have to deal with. How many terrorist acts have been committed if France this year alone? Europe is drowning in hordes of former or current Jihadi recruits who mean them harm. And when Europeans speak out they are labeled racists. This problem is NOT solving itself, it is spreading. The world is chaos but people like yourself don't realize it because they don't like looking at "scraggly bearded men with chicklets for teeth". Just stay in your Pennsylvania suburb where everything will be ok. Back to mainstream media for you, huh? Literally, you saw nothing. You didn't do any research. It won't just present itself for you.

Not all comments will be considerate. But unlike here, they are not censored. Use your own filter if it bothers you. I never entertained the notion that individuals making comments on that site are humanity's representatives. It's the footage that is compelling evidence against our lack of morals. You're looking at the wrong documentation. Speaking of safe spaces, you read some negative commentary on Liveleak which you found repulsive and ran right back to a censored EVGA forum...Your safe space. Censorship solves nothing. This is why people are not well informed about the nature of the world. They don't understand where hate and cynicism are born and why. History will repeat itself. And liberals will open up those pages for a community that is ill equipped to deal with a conflict on such a broad scale. And no, this is not a NEWS site. That...is what makes it truthful. Watch some of the regular videos and consider the actions of those depicted, regardless of commentary. The world is an imperfect place and you are a part of it. Nereus Yup.. started reading comments after seeing a guy get shot dead by robbers...
That...RIGHT there. You see a video of a guy getting shot and dying...but it's the COMMENTS that bother you????? I don't think you realized what you actually typed. It's hard to take you seriously, mate.

*sigh* wow you are so completely utterly wrong. First up, this was an ongoing conversation on this thread, you suggested looking at that site, I looked at it and reported on what I saw - that is not 'running back to a safe space'.. sheesh, get off that high horse of yours... I have already commented and had numerous run-ins with mods about censorship rules here, so don't start making unfounded claims about me when they are clearly completely wrong. Of course the video bothered me - that should go without saying and that is why I didn't mention the video but the only the mean-spirited comments following it. The fact that you don't even understand that speaks volumes about where you are coming from. What I saw on that site wasn't hate and cynicism, and it certainly wasn't about understanding or learning, it appeared to be little more than a platform for a bunch of immature cowards hiding behind internet anonymity to put on display just how lacking they are in any semblance of morality or compassion, and making mean-spirited comments apparently in a bid to outdo each other and make the most outrageous comment of all. That has NOTHING to do with me allegedly needing a 'safe space' - I have no fear or need of protection from individuals like that, and if anything they should fear me if they ever had the guts to talk like that to anyone's face in my presence. Don't confuse 'honesty' and 'learning' and particularly uncensored 'discussion' with outright trolling. Grow up, and I'm not your mate, mate. lol. "If you don't read the newspaper, you're uninformed. You reported one thing you saw. How many things do you imagine you missed? In this case I wouldn't use the word "report". A report has some substance. You provided a short summary, at best, with no significant value. Censorship comment wasn't aimed at you. Just a general comment about the cons of censorship. Political discussions, for example, tend to spiral out of control. More than on one thread on this site people were asked to refrain from engaging. Can't get anything done with such requests. But your actions can be taken as such. You visited a website, didn't like the content, hence you came here to provide feedback without actually exploring, and this was based on ONE VIDEO. One visit to a venue will not allow you to ascertain it's value. You need to spend some time and investigate. That's why I can say with confidence CNN is a propagandist machine given the content and rhetoric which I viewed for years. Don't presume I don't understand something. Again, you provided vague feedback of your experience so my assessment is based on that. Granted you probably don't have enough time for meticulous messaging but don't assume everyone should know exactly what you mean. And my point stands. You spent more time discussing irrelevant commentary than on the atrocity you viewed. As a result, based on your experience, I imagine you won't be going back. If something like "trolls" prevent people from investigating then the world is in trouble. Once more...IF commentary is what you feel education is then there is no hope. Commentary provides feedback in the form of opinions and feelings and the like. It's INTENDED CONTENT that provides a comprehensive outlook of the worlds current state. FROM that you should be able to verify authenticity, facts and so on. And I warned people about the possibilities of seeing some disgusting things. Things the media will either NOT report, or spin to fit their agenda. Let me explain something to you. People don't care about your feelings. They say things for a reaction. Your reaction is a threatening stance toward anyone that would speak in such a manner in your presence. For the third, fourth or whatever time I have to point out that your focus is on the commentary, not the atrocity, and that speaks VOLUMES of your character. But here you are telling ME to grow up. Brilliant.

Once again you are making completely uninformed assumptions and reaching a predictably wrong conclusion - perhaps you need to practice a little of what you preach? I spent a lot longer than watching one single video there lol, I just chose to comment on that one as an example of my experience, but hey, feel free to make up any old story you like to suit your agenda, right? ..whatever the hell your agenda is, lol. While castigating me (incorrectly) for providing feedback on my experience allegedly based (incorrectly) on 'ONE' video, you make a judgement call on me based on my one comment posted here.... Gee.. pot, kettle, black - does that mean anything to you? Again, practice what you preach. Furthermore, rather than content, I highlighted the comments made by the people who frequent the site - comments you specifically warned us about by stating "The rhetoric is vicious, yet fascinatingly authentic" ...Vicious? maybe, but only in the sense that it was cold mean-spirited nastiness. Fascinatingly authentic? lol.. that's about as accurate as describing a pile of feces as 'fascinatingly aromatic'. Why did you mention it and then get all offended that I commented on it? No my friend, it was bottom-of-the-barrel trolling there, nothing more. I saw no articulate discussion whatsoever. Again, you know nothing about me whatsoever, yet you're making all sorts of assumptions and calls (which are wildly incorrect) based on my one post here above.. lol, and you probably still don't see it. I have already addressed your attack on my not discussing the video itself, but you ignored that and continue harping on about it because you have nothing else and apparently you can't handle that maybe your assumptions about people here you have never met (not just me) are completely wrong. I just think maybe you're having problems accepting that others have a differing opinion than yours, and your condescending style of writing kind of proves it. As far as content goes, did you ever view rotten.com when that was still active? That was seriously stomach turning stuff. Liveleak is relatively mild in comparison. CNN is obviously a propaganda-driven machine, no argument here, and I don't think anyone here was arguing otherwise, so not sure why you're going off on that tangent. Stick to what was being discussed and not personal attacks and we might get somewhere. Bye Felicia.

I do not need to dig through a pile of trash to try to find a gold nugget. You are preaching to the choir, we know what is going on in the world. I will ask you again, I have seen the death and destruction in person. Have you? You did not answer the question. You act like you are the only one who knows war is hell, and we are at war. We have been in this war for well over 1000 years, I get it. My family is a gold star family, is yours? Get off your high horse.
^ Bingo Bill. FYI, I am also living in NYC, was here on 911, and from a military family - career military that is, and have lived in other countries and am no innocent little cupcake living in (lol) Canada....

Probably not, and on a personal note, thank you Bill. bill1024 I do not need to dig through a pile of trash to try to find a gold nugget.
I commend your family. I have seen death and destruction in person, yes. Not acting like that at all. Point I'm making is that people don't see what is actually happening. I'm glad you get it. My family is not a gold star family. But my family does contribute to society where necessary. And I am a 35 year old married father of two with my own house and my own basement.

bill1024 I doubt he knows what a gold star family is.
Probably not, and on a personal note, thank you Bill. Still can't find the significant content or significance in content you found, huh? Some day.

Such arrogance. I bet you live in French Canada, am I right? Also, nice job completely ignoring everything else mentioned and trying another angle of sarcasm-based attack to distract from being called out on your own hypocrisy. Awesome. I'm done wasting any more time on this trash.

Nereus Once again you are making completely uninformed assumptions and reaching a predictably wrong conclusion - perhaps you need to practice a little of what you preach? I'm making assumptions based on your comments. Not uninformed. But you never mentioned that you spent a lot of time there, you only mentioned one video and your disdain for the commentary. And by doing what you did you proved my point. You saw something, didn't like it, and proceeded to mock it on a forum familiar to you. Fascinatingly authentic meaning there is no censorship. People react however they want to react. Doesn't mean I agree with it, nor do I condone it. But I understand why people react this way hence it doesn't bother me. And I never got offended by anything you said. You misread my demeanor. Not all comments are going to be articulate or savory. I don't really need to know you that well. I am, in fact, commenting on your assessment of a website which you haven't fully explored, nor, by your reactions, care to any further. And I am condescending because I'm more thorough when digesting content. You have no further interest in that website because of your brief experience, correct? Rotten.com was dedicated to gore. Not the same thing. I was pointing out the difference between certain sites and what CNN is. You can find the same content on both but you are more likely to find unedited content on sites such as Liveleak. Not sure why that deviation/tangent bothers you. I never attacked you personally. I assessed your assessment and hypothesized on your reaction. You are the one who became defensive.

GOD no. I live in Ontario. But I'm originally from Europe. And I'm arrogant because I see what you don't see. I ignored nothing. Nor did I attack you. I simply pointed out what you hadn't noticed. Nereus I'm done wasting any more time on this trash.
And THAT...is precisely why significant changes around the world are difficult to achieve. Like many, you also have a viewpoint and refuse to embrace another because you are attached to familiarity, labeling what I said "trash". It's easier to give up than compromise your own ideals. This is the western world.

This thread has gone on long enough and the political undertone as well as blatant post outside of the terms of service have gone beyond what they should have. Locking this thread. If you would like to continue with the conversation, a PM back and forth would be a great way to communicate.
