As there are many CPUs out there I will just put up based on Base Clocks.

180 BaseClock

CPU VCore is a 'generic' 1.30v due to dependance on individual CPU's desires and cooling.

A generic Memory timing setting , dependant on Modules.

200 BaseClock

I am lost this morning, second coffee cup is not enough!

    IOH QPI 0 Signal?

= QPI buss one? first CPU and buss 2 being cpu two? - or do you have separate QPI settings on each QPI link in each CPU?

I cant recall seeing this one one before, I might be mistaken or just lost in the wilderness thou, I tried to Google it a bit and come up with nothing that made sense to me or maybe I just need more coffee this morning :-)

Thou through my sleep dizziness I sense a start of a SR-2 OC guide in the making

    I am also lost ??

why IOH QPI 0 Signal of -85 and QPI 1 of -16?

What is the reason for the (-) and the affect of OC???

    Shamino Please explain??

    thanks

hi cant be too specific, more of a company policy. you can experiment with that when o/cing. at most just clear cmos.

    haha, I understand!!

but can you do a brief explaination on the purpose of the (-) value??

I know cpu0 have to communicated with cpu1 through IOH QPI , do the lesser value have to do with higher the bclk??

so for instance, if at 215bclk , then the qpi signal on cpu0 is even greater like ( -91 ) to cpu1 ?

also Do cpu1 signal have to be -16 , or that can change based on oc??

    thanks Shamino!!

I know i am asking too much questions ( specific questions ) But just like some Clarification on this subject.

    WB

btw: based on the bio screen of max 20x mutipler and 12mb L3 , are you running a x5650 on the SR2?

basically the biggest (-) value that allows the MB to boot up consistently (@ ~ 1.35v to 1.40v IOH) will be the optimum value for oc.
IOH QPI 1 signal is not as important.

    x5650 i think , a 21x turbo cpu

Shamino, this may be a stupid question or impossible to answer, but is there a bclk threshold or IOH voltage above which you think the board itself (or any particular components on the board) will need additional cooling beyond the integrated fan and good airflow?  I guess I'm asking at what point water cooling is needed for components other than CPU and GPU.

you mean if cooling anything there will help bclk?

Above 1.40v IOH it will get quite toasty, volts help BCLK but then heat harms so thats one thing.
    other thing is cpu cooling.
BCLK = right volts on cpu and ioh and right cooling.

This will be my first Intel board so sorry for these noob questions.  I have 12GB of Corsair GT 3x2 1600 do I set memory timings to 1066?  If I buy one processor would putting 3 sticks in the memory slots without Proc make any difference? Or should I just fill up all memory slots by the only processor?

I can't answer the memory timings question, but for the other question, since the memory controller in the processor controls the 3 local channels, if you have an empty socket, there is no memory controller for those channels, so there is no point in putting memory there.

    1066 is memory ratio.
ratio will be ceiling capped to 1066 or 1333 depending on segmentation of cpu used.
to get 1600 with 1333 segmentation cpu for example, you need to overclock to 160 baseclock from 133 baseclocks. (160x10)
to get to 1600 with 1066 segmentation, need to overclock 200baseclock from 133 baseclock (200x8)

Ok so with the ram I have a Xeon 5640 or above would be the better 6 core option.  Since these support 3xDDR 1333 correct?
This is the formula I'm used to: FSB X HTT multiplier = HTT bus Frequency. Does the same rules apply with Intel?

yes in the sense of 'your cpu is in same league as your ram'
but the beauty of DIY is the options you have, 1600 rams work fine at below 1600 of course.

FSB translates to Baseclocks / BCLK in this case.
HTT Multiplier translates to QPI Ratio in this case.
there are of course cpu ratios, Ram ratios too.

    Re:SR2 OC BIOS Template 2010/05/25 21:16:09 (permalink)
Dang I wish I could figure out my system. I copied all the template with my e5620's but I still can't go past 3.4ghz. Also it seems one of my chips is much better than the other. One of them consumes much less vcore when I have them both on auto. Anytime I raise the bclk to 222x18=4.0ghz I get f4 post code. I have tried Qpi 0 signal everything from -10 to -80; IOH anywhere from 1.2v-1.45v, Vcore anywhere from 1-1.45v as well as Vtt, etc. I'm running dominator ram 1600mhz so I usually set it to 800 in the bios and 1.65v.

The Biggest problem I have encounter so far is that my system is completely unstable when everything in the bios is at default. I get terrible cpu and gpu scores and blue screens when everything is at stock. When I overclock to 3.4ghz and disable Cstate, speedstep, turbo, ACPI T state, and put everything on auto I get relatively good performance and all 3 gpu's run.

I'm running dual psu's and I really need to try just one to eliminate that problem. I have read some people having problems with dual psu's because the one running the graphics cards doesn't have any load on the 5 volt rail. I wonder if I could have this problem. Most people with this problem experience instability which I have when everything is at default. No problems at all when OC though. Hmmm ....
