I am looking at picking up a second GTX 970 and running it plus my current card (a GTX 970 FTW) in SLI.  I have two requirements:  First, that I be able to SLI the two cards, of course.  And second, that the new card have a minimum of 2 DisplayPort outputs.  I MUST have two PHYSICAL DisplayPort outputs, as daisy chaining displays is not an option.  I saw on another thread that the new GTX 970 FTW+ and GTX 970 SSC cards are not capable of being run in SLI with the GTX 970 FTW, as shown here: Sadly, it looks like of the EVGA cards that are compatible for SLI with my current GTX 970 FTW, none of them have more than one DisplayPort connector.

This means that I'm going to need to look outside of EVGA cards if I'm going to find one that meets my requirements.  However, since I can't even SLI EVGA cards of the same family together, I need to know if any NON-EVGA cards will be compatible for running SLI with.  Specifically, can I run SLI with a Gigabyte/MSI GTX 970 and my current EVGA GTX 970 FTW?

Edited to add link, if it will let me...  I guess linking in your first post is frowned upon :P

Call evga and ask as they will be the only ones that will be able to tell you that. http://www.evga.com/about/contactus/

And if you contact eVGA about this, they might allow you to switch your FTW to a FTW+ in order for you to SLI with another FTW+.

Thanks for the responses everyone.  I wasn't sure if anyone here would have experience with this, or if I would have to talk to them directly, so I figured I would try here first.  It won't left me link what I wanted to in the original post, but maybe it will here:  (It didn't.)  Link follows, remove spaces: www. evga. com/ support/ faq/ afmmain.aspx?faqid=59531

Hello and welcome to the forums

This should give you a better understanding of what can be put into SLI with the GTX 970 models here http://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=59531.

You mean this one right?

Or call and ask them about switching your FTW to a FTW+ so you can SLI with another FTW+.  They did it for me and have seen them do it for others.  Worst thing is they say no.

I wasn't able to yet, sadly... doing things in the middle of work doesn't let you get away to do non-work things for long :P  Calling them now however.

Hi Fizyx,

If you do have two EVGA GTX 970 cards and you have trouble with SLI, then let us know as we can offer to work with you to make it work with the other.

Also we cannot guarantee SLI compatibility with other manufacturers cards, but if you do have a problem then we will do our best to try and assist.

I really hope EVGA will learn from this, let's be honest and call it a debacle, and not do this again in the future.

I have a feeling that you can neither confirm nor deny, but I need to clarify this before I pull the trigger.  Feel free to PM me if you need to.  I have an article that states that the current card I have, and the card that I would be getting aren't compatible with each other for SLI.  With that in mind, is it safe for me to infer things that have been talked about earlier in this thread are true, as long as I have both cards already in hand?

Also... it looks like I picked a bad time to go shopping for the FTW+, since the only place that seems to have it in stock at the moment is amazon, at $70 over EVGA's own site-listed price ;_;

I would definitely talk to them first.  They have done it in the past when someone has already bought both cards, so not sure what their exact response would be on this.

I am in this situation right now, so I sent in a support ticket.  We will see what happens. :)

Things like this https://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59534  should really be more clearly stated so people can make the correct decision.  The initial frustration and disappointment of seeing the SLI option grayed out has dissipated, and I hope there is a process I can go through to clear up the problem.

 Hey,
Can I get in on this action?  :)  I submitted a ticket under the one card I have registered here on the site.

Hi there,
Yes EVGA helped me out and matched me up with a card that made SLI compatible.

You need to make sure the specific model numbers match up as  you saw in the chart.
https://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmmain.aspx?faqid=59534

Don't just go off of the sub-model marketing name. It may work, but it may not.

You can even plug serial numbers into that page and see if they match up.
