Hey,

Anybody using the SC17 with the Oculus Rift S successfully? Also, does anybody know of a VBIOS update for the GTX 1070 card that should be applied? Thanks for any information!

If you're not having a problem with your gpu then you don't need to update the vbios.

I am having a problem with the Rift S. The screen will turn off after a random amount of time leaving sound working and tracking working, but no image from the display port. I wondered if it had anything to do with HDCP or power or the display port on the GPU itself.

Most likely not. I bet it has something to do with the display cable you're using or the mini-dp to dp adapter that comes with the rift.

I am using the mini-DP to DP adapter since the SC17 only has mini-DP. Oculus says that only their adapter will work, but I wonder if it would be worth trying another one? When the screen goes dark the Oculus software doesn't say that the connection to the DP is down....it goes on like everything is normal.

I'd eliminate the adapter, and only use a proper vesa certified cable such as this one.

So, I was finally able to try the Rift S on another ASUS laptop and it worked flawlessly. I tested it using the mini DP to DP adapter as well. I have seen other laptop makers such as MSI offering a VBIOS update for their 1070 cards that have fixed the same black screen issue on their laptops. So, I inquired with EVGA support and they are talking to their people in Taiwan about getting an update for the 1070 in the SC17. I'm hoping this is followed through on since it seems to have been fixable on other manufacturers laptop 1070 versions.
