Hi,

I recently started an advanced rma procedure because my 1080ti was having bad times with demanding applications such as games or benchmarking tools.
The card was causing crashes everytime it was on heavy load with stock clocks. I asked EVGA EUROPE support for that and they were kind enough to offer me a RMA.
(Yes, I checked every piece of hardware, used a thousands time DDU, and reinstalled windows twice)

So I asked for an advanced RMA on 03/30 and paid the collateral charge of 819.99€.
After multiple phone calls and messages to support, the RMA got approved on 4/6.
Replacement card was shipped from EVGA on 4/9.
Received the package today on 4/12.

I then replaced my original card with the new, and ... poof same problem, it crashes even faster than before, can't even pass 3DMark tests.
So, not only it took ages for my RMA to get approved, but I paid 819.99€ to receive a near-dead gpu on arrival ? what a surprise.

So now what ?
I want to keep my original card until EVGA can find one that actually works as intended. And be sure I wont pay anything more to ship the defective replacement to your warehouse

Are you OC'ing your CPU?  If yes, set back to stock.
Have you tested your system ram for errors?  If not, test with this > https://www.memtest86.com/
If I got two bad GPU's in a row, I'd start thinking something in my system could be the issue.

2018 started well, until now :')

Could any of the EVGA representative tell me if I send the replacement card back, the rma process will be over, and if I'll get my refund.
I no longer want to deal with that brand ever again

What PSU do you have and how old is it? Is there by chance you have another PSU to test with?
Or maybe test your GPU in another computer, friends or family member maybe? Or another GPU to test with?
I had a bad PSU, load on the CPU was ok,  when I put the GPU and CPU under load the system crashed, thought it was the GPU at first.
Nope, it was the PSU that was bad. Swapped it out all was well again.

I have a corsair rm1000i since 2years. No psu to test actually. Did you have software crashes (black screen with sound or such) or hard crashes that makes your computer restart ?

I had hard crashes where the system restarted as if I hit the reset button.
The GPU would load up and reboot right away. Why I thought it was the GPU.
Two years, thousand watts should be ok, but hard to tell with out swapping parts.
I am lucky I have a couple computers to swap parts around when I need to.

Maybe a local shop that can test the card and system, should not take long.
I know it sucks having to do, but if you do get another card and still have an issue, it maybe worth it.

Wish you good luck with it, fingers crossed!!

I only get driver crashes or freezing with sound in background.
When I look in the event viewer i either get no error at all, or nvlddmkm errors

I tested with a 970gtx and no problem at all. I really don't think this can be caused by the motherboard. I checked others pcie x16 but no difference whatsoever
I also checked with only one monitor, with dp or hdmi, but I always get that nvlddmkm error when looking at event viewer :/

heres what the event viewer says :
The description for Event ID 13 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
