So I rebuit the computer in my signature (will update that eventually) & have been doing some initial testing!

Upgrades as follows:
Motherboard > Since EVGA doesn't have a decently priced Z690 / Z790 board, I went with a Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4
CPU > Intel's current flagship i9-13900KS
OS Drive > 2TB Samsung 990 Pro

User Benchmark test run on 13900KS  VS:
UserBenchmarks ON THE 9900K

CPU Profile on 13900KS VS CPU Profile on 9900K  - minimum 42% increase in CPU performance!!!
Fire Strike on 13900KS VS Fire Strike 9900K
Time Spy on 13900KS VS Time Spy on 9900K
Somehow, the GPU is running slower avg clock speed in the new build & limiting the difference between the 2 systems.  Might be due to newer driver, or different Windows version, not sure just yet....

One thing I don't like about the CPU, it's all over the place on temperatures even with my Kraken X63 water cooler installed.  At idle it'll be sitting at about 32C - 36C, then just doing a windows update & in about 3 seconds it jumps to 90C+    Might have to limit the turbo clock speed to around 5GHz & see what that does.  Nice to know it can run at or around 6GHz, but unless I'm editing / encoding video, I probably don't need that much speed!

EDIT: Adding Cinebench:

According to HWMon Pro, while running the 10 minute multi-core test:
> All 8 P cores hit 95C+ with 3 cores hit 100C
> Wattage topped out at 382.8W
> voltage peaked at 1.552V
> core speed hit 5.6GHz

Limited CPU to 5GHz through BIOS - Cinebench run dropped to 37190 for the 10 minute multi-core test - roughly an 8% drop.... but with that minor reduction in performance comes huge improvements in other things:
    > Max temp was only 76C with all but 4 cores being in the 69C - 72C range!
    > Max wattage was 232.26W that's a 150W reduction!!!
    > Max voltage only reached 1.280V!

thanks for sharing the results of your test.  72 C is a conservative temp

Are you going to test more ?  like 5.1, 5.2, 5.3 ....5.9  GHz ... see if there is a sweet spot performance/ temps

When I get more time, I'll see what it can do.
Currently installing Windows 11 Pro so I can get a more apples to apples performance comparison.

Looking at ebay listings with active bids, looks like I should be able to sell off my old motherboard, CPU, & GPU & get a 4070 Ti to really kick this build up a step or 2!!!

    Nice numbers!

Are you using a contact frame for the cpu?
What thermal paste did you use?

I may do that tomorrow if I'm not feeling up to going outside & getting some work done around the house which I really need to do.

Got the Thermalright contact frame and using the last of my IC Diamond 24 karat thermal paste.  Now I remember why I haven't used it on the last two builds....  It's thick like clay & in my experience, the hardest thermal paste to spread around.

o, Win 11 Pro install complete & updated till no more Windows Updates availabe.  Installed the same driver I used in the 9900K build.  Installed Precision X1 with only change being to crank the GPU fans to 100%.  So I ran Time Spy again & nice improvement to a score of 15,380!  In fact, it's less than 200 points behind the top result for this CPU / GPU combination of 15,535.  So I think to myself... I can beat that score!   Go into BIOS reset CPU to full performance, reboot, make some minor adjustments to the GPU &... drop in performance :(

Faster GPU Core & avg core speed, faster avg GPU memory clock speed, back to the 5.6GHz avg CPU core speed which had produced a 1400 point higher CPU score while in Windows 10, but now it's 1500 points lower than the 5GHz speed score resulting in a score reduction of 401 points

Did you get a chance to see what your temps were before installing the contact frame?
ICD24 is awesome stuff; just plop a blob in the middle & a couple dots near each corner & put your block or cooler on, and let it spread from tightening down your block/cooler.
You said your vcore went up to 1.55? Isn't that really high for that cpu? Shouldn't it be around 1.35?
That should be the reason your temp is high?
    What XMP did you choose?
Do you have your Window's 'Power Options' on Balanced or Performance?
Did you update to the latest bios, IMEF, & drivers --> Z690 GAMING X DDR4 (rev. 1.0) Support | Motherboard - GIGABYTE Global
Looks like Version F22 is the most recent bios?
More than likely it's a bios setting.
Hopefully one of these things will help without having to downclock the cpu.
I also just bought the KS the other week, and will be putting it together in the next few weeks.

Installed the contact frame before any testing.

I just made 1 change in BIOS: PCIe was set to AUTO in BIOS, so I manually switched both CPU_PCIe (primary M.2 slot) & PCIe to 4.0 and I'm almost there... latest run = 15453 I'm not even doing any 'real' overclocking yet!

According to Igor'sLAB who says they tested 199 13900KS CPU's (have only glanced over it so far), the KS chips are supposed to hit 6GHz (I'm guessing in single/dual core use only) at 1.49V so 1.552V was shocking as was over 380W package power.  That's assuming that both the motherboard and HWmonitor Pro are reading correctly....

Looks like the IC Diamond is starting to burn in properly, temps & voltage are a little lower on that last run of Time Spy while the CPU jumped up to 5.7Ghz!!!  I'm about to re-run Cinebench single core to see what speed & voltage shows there.

Correct - you can not use EVGA Marketplace to advertise your eBay listing

You can list your "eBay feedback link" & you must have a Heatware account with a direct link in your marketplace post

If I cannot list my ebay sales, then there's no point in me joining marketplace & I'm not gonna bother with heatware.  I have ebay purchases & sales going all the way back to the early 2000's.

It's crazy how much my same GPU has sold for in the past 2 weeks: avg sale price is around $470 for 6 auctions, 1 of them for $610   I hope mine goes somewhere in that range!  Even if the mobo/cpu/ssd combo doesn't go over the current bid, $470 for the GPU would get me close enough to grab a 4070 Ti... assuming there are any left when my listings end.

Final piece to this re-build is on the way!!!   Ended up paying $960 after tax & shipping (paid for 2-day instead of free 4-5 day), about $160 more than I would have liked to have paid, but the reviews on this particular card make it one of the best all-around 4070 Ti cards currently available.  It's at the lower end of the temperature & noise levels for the 4070 Ti's & near the mid to upper end on performance, matching or beating the 3090 Ti Founders Edition @4K in all of the games I'm most interested in right now.

    Rebuild 2.0 Specs:  Phantek's Enthoo Pro Full Tower case * Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4 motherboard * Intel i9-13900KS CPU with Kraken X63 AIO * WIN 11 PRO 64bit * MSI 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio GPU * Corsair Vengeance 64GB(4x16GB) RAM * Solidigm P44 Pro 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD (Win11 Pro) + Intel 665p 1TB M.2 NVMe (storage) + Samsung 990 Pro 2TB M.2 NVMe (storage) + Samsung 980 1TB M.2 NVMe (Ubuntu) * Seasonic Vertex GX-1200 1200W ATX 3.0 PSU * Samsung 50 inch QN90A 4K TV/monitor * FANS: Bitfenix Spectre Pro 200mm front intake + 2x Noctua NF-A14 Industrial PPC 140mm exhaust on Kraken X63 radiator + 1 Noctua NF-A12 120mm rear intake

SM-71, have your tried undervolting instead of locking CPU freq?  I just got my 13900KS.  My setup is different, but I undervolted with a 0.08 negative offset will no power limits, max TVB times, and everything else at Asus default.  At light loads, core4/5 peaks at 6Ghz.  All P-cores run solid at 5.6 Ghz.  Idle temps are in the mid 30s.  Video transcoding at 100% cores for 35 mins yield core temps in the 70s and return water feed temps peak around 32.  CB 23 10min torture yield solid 5.6Ghz P-cores with temps on 3-cores hiting low 90s max peak, while remaining cores in the 80s.  No thermal throttling.

If you can address the heat dissipation and soak with a balanced clock and/or voltage setting, the KS can game all day and possibly do heavy loads for hours.  I need to do more testing.  So far, I have no regret paying extra for the binned chip.  With the offset, voltage runs ~ 1.3 at a peak of 230w.  At all cpu defaults except no power limits, I hit thermal throttling even with my external cooling.  Matches web review results.

Not yet, but for the final part of the rebuild, I may just do that!

    Some new results:
    https://www.3dmark.com/spy/35723427 Time Spy run
    https://www.3dmark.com/spy/35723739 Time Spy Extreme run
    https://www.3dmark.com/fs/29522722 Fire Strike run
    https://www.3dmark.com/fs/29522385 Fire Strike Ultra run
https://www.3dmark.com/fsst/2311621 Fire Strike Ultra Stress Test - second of 2 back to back stress test runs hit a max temp of 63C.   Looks like this card has more room for OC!  Maybe enough to hit 42K - 43K on Fire Strike...

The new card is massive, at least compared to my old 1660 Ti, but it is very quiet, and runs fairly cool!
