I don't know if you still watch this thread, I have the same problem, but I'm using an MSI Duke 1080OC. It only freezes when I am getting out of the browser, Mozilla, or watching a video in Youtube; never happens in a game. I was worried that it might be CPU bottleneck from memory since I'm using an i7 3820, I am also using windows 7 64-bit. Just glad it's not the card these things are way to pricey right now to replace.

Well it still happens here but a lot less, in games it never happens but just as you said Mozilla Waterfox/Firefox and YT only I have it with Facebook as well, so it could be a conflict with Waterfox & Win7 maybe, but it's not as frequent anymore I kind of accepted it tbh. in games my GPU doesn't surpass the 62C max temp which is nice for silent mode :)
rock solid performance in my games or watching BluRay films, nothing is perfect thus I kind of accepted the issue and just learned to deal with it.

NVIDIA gave me no helpful response so as that goes, dunno what else to expect.

The fix for win7 barely missed being in 391.35, its in the next driver which should be this or next week.

I just went ahead and got an OEM Windows 10 code for about $30 dollars and upgraded, no problems since, having the cash to black was getting really annoying when doing work so I just bit the bullet. I also saw an increase in performance in some of my games as well, I don't know if it was just a fluke or if the cards run better on the newer OS. But hopefully Nvidia fixes the problem, but I don't have much faith in their driver updates anymore to be honest.
