Hello all:
My first post on the forums and looking for what is hopefully, a simple solution. All the testing was done on 2560*1440 at max settings.
My FTW3 has started stuttering in games like Siege and Far Cry 5, as well as experiencing FPS drops in both games, and the Unigine Heaven DX11 Benchmark... I am wondering if this kind of issue is exclusive to GPUs so I can narrow it down.
Siege - I used to average 165 FPS (Frame limited due to monitor) on maximum settings with no issues whatsoever, most of the time the GPU wasn't even working hard to achieve that (CPU does a bit of lifting with Siege). Now, I cannot get over 150, sometimes dropping to 110.
Far Cry 5 - I used to average 130 FPS on the benchmark a few weeks ago, now it stutters like crazy during the benchmark and spikes all over the place and is down to 119-120. I will attach a photo to show the graph and its spikes.
Heaven DX11 - I used to average 126-128 FPS on stock settings, and 130-131 FPS with some overclocking. Now it is getting 116 FPS with more noticeable stuttering during the benchmark. Tried to upload these photos that are both under 500kB, but it won't let me.
Of course it sounds like most of these are "not a big deal", but when I have paid nearly $2000 CAD for a top of the line GPU, I expect high-level performance and for the unit itself to work flawlessly. This is not a thermal throttling issue as the GPU never surpasses 65 degrees, and the CPU never surpasses 80, both of which are rare.
Specs for Reference:
i9-9900K @ 5.0 GHz
Corsair H100i PRO
ROG Maximus XI Hero
32GB (4*8) Vengeance PRO RGB DDR4-3200 MHz
500GB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 + 2TB 860 EVO 2.5 SSD
EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming
I have tried DDU to rollback drivers with a clean install to no avail. The only anomaly I have noticed is that I am having issues in Ubisoft titles, GTA V & Forza Horizon 4 seemed to run very smooth with slight FPS drops, nothing that I am too concerned with. I am hoping that this is just a bad GPU as I still have the ability to exchange through Amazon until Thursday, September 26th.
