Hello, I just thought I needed to make a post about my concerns for my first EVGA RMA for a graphics card. I treated myself to a new PC roughly 5 months ago as my old system was showing it's age.
Here my new system spec's
AMD Ryzen 7 1700X - H115 cooler
Asus Crosshair VI HERO
EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2 - 11G-P4-6593-KR
2x8GB Cors Veng LPX DDR4-3200
500GB Samsung 960 Evo M.2 NVMe
850W EVGA SuperNOVA G2 Mod PSU
27 Asus PG279Q IPS 165hzG-Sync
Corsair OBSIDIAN 750D Case

I have just submitted my rma request for my dieing Gtx 1080 Ti and its pending approval at the time of writing. I guess I just feeling a little worried about the whole process. I have had a quick look at the warranty and returns section but I have also read different stories on the web and youtube about people experience of which some are good and bad.

My biggest concern is that I will receive a refurbished second hand card back. I know they are tested but my card is fairly low mileage I feel. Being a busy family man I don't have the time like I used to for gaming. It will just be my luck to get some million hours miners card that just managed to pass all of EVGA tests.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but are all Nvidia cards now shipped with virtually the same core and memory speed? My current card turbo's to 1987Mhz at 68c.

How does the warranty work with RMA cards?

I've probably posted this in the wrong section so I'll apologise in advance. If you read this far thank you for taking the time to read my post I'm just worried because this is the most I've spent on a single GPU.

PS I live in England

Cheers
Adam

What exactly is wrong with your card? There really isn't anything to worry about. You'll be getting another 1080 Ti SC2 back from evga unless they don't have any in stock for rma.

Advertised core & memory speeds can vary depending on which model you have. Actual core speeds can vary because of how gpu boost 3.0 works.

The remainder of your warranty will be moved to your new rma'd card. You can rma the replacement card again if you have issues.

Hello Sajin thank you for replying. Here's what's the problem is with my card and some of the things I've done regarding testing it.

I get random crashes back to desktop in all games and graphic intensive programs such as GPU benchmarks at differing lengths of time. I'm not sure if I can see some slight artifacting going on in BF1 very slightly?

One of the main errors that I get say " A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."

The other common error is the graphics card has been removed from the system and something about rendering problem???

I have tried multiple ways to remedy this problem such as.

Installing latest drivers and bios updates including GPU drivers.

I used Display Driver Uninstaller and the NVidia clean install in windows safe mode.

I have re-seated the GPU and memory modules.

Uninstall all third party programs like EVGA precision.

Rest bios to optimal default settings.

    Turned off admin program controls

In the end I switch the gtx 1080ti to my other PC and it crashed back to desktop in just the same.

I switch out the GPU ( EVGA GTX 670 ) from that machine and it ran fine so Im confident it the EVGA GTX 1080 ti at fault.

I will add that I've been using my old Gtx 670 for a few days and my system has been stable with zero crashes.

In the usa... once evga receives the defective product a replacement is shipped within three business days. UK should be similar.

I thought I'd update my thread for anyone interested in my experiences.

I ended up sending them a new ticket asking for a update. Turns out they were waiting for stock and my RMA would be with me on the 24th which it was.

EVGA kindly shipped me a upgrade from my GTX 1080 ti SC2 for a FTW3 which was cool thank you EVGA.

I don't know if the card I received was a refurbished? It didn't come in retail packaging but the card itself had all the bits of plastic on the card a new retail card would. I was a little miffed that it wasn't shipped in a antistatic bag which I thought would be?

Either way the card seems to work a treat. No crashing back to desktop and everything is stable.

Big thank you again for EVGA and there support. Don't take it the wrong way but I hope I don't need your RMA services again.😉

I have never had a problem with not having an anti static bag but it's one of those things if you did have a problem it would be day one.

Don't worry about EVGA RMA service.  They always take care of their customers. I heard Asus RMA was bad and now I'm experiencing it. Asus has something called "ASUS Rapid Replacement" similar to "EVGA Advanced RMA".  They would pay for your shipping back to them.  I have an Asus monitor that has 5 huge dead pixels and it has the "ASUS Rapid Replacement".  When I contacted them today, they said they don't have it in stock and wanted me to send it the monitor and wait for them to repair it.  They said it would take 10-14 business days and then they also said "It depends on the parts" too.  What? another 10-14 business day! AND they didn't offer to create a shipping label for me.  They expect me to poke out 30-40$ shipping for their "ASUS Rapid Replacement" service.  What a joke of this "ASUS Rapid Replacement".  They do not have the monitor in stock for RMA yet Newegg, Amazon and other retailers are still selling it.  I paid over $650 for the monitor and would expect better service.  So you are in good hand with EVGA.  DO NOT buy any Asus products!
