It has been years since I've installed a new SSD. I want to format to NTFS. I get the following message has follows

Initialize Disk

Disk 0

Use the following partition style for the selected disk

MBR (Master Boot Record)
GPT (GUID Partition Table)

Which should I choose in order to format correctly to NTFS? This will be a stand alone drive. I won't be in raid mode.

It depends on your system’s age and component makeup as well as if it will be a boot drive and version of Windows to the size of the SSD in that makeup.

It’s also important to install the manufacturer software and check for firmware updates. It’s became less so with more modern SSD drives but it’s always where I start. If you are cloning the drive it’s best to install it and see if the software has a format drive option.

Use an Associates Code & SAVE 5% - 10% on your purchase. Just click on the associates banner to save, or enter the associates code at checkout on your next purchase. If you choose to use my code I want to personally say "Thank You" for using it.

Really sucks there is no support in raid for firmware upgrades. Only way to do it is the break the raid and update drives then restore a backup onto the new raid..... But GPT is way better then MBR if your hardware is new and working with large drives.
