Hello guys, so i just recently did my gaming PC build. This is my first time I have the Precision XOC software installed but I do not plan to do any overclocking. The only reasons I use the software, is for automatically controlling fan speeds and OSD monitoring and that's it. Would this fan curve below be alright, as well as my other settings?  I left everything else to default as I do not want to try damaging the card in anyway. Thanks

Welcome to the Forums and EVGA Family trueboss926

    My rule of thumb:

Minimum fan = 40% your probably not going to hear it running

    Temp in C +10 = Fan %

So if your GPU is at 50 C then Fan = 60%

It is a balance between heat and the level of fan sound you like

Also, push the first two sliders full right Power target & Temp target---- this lets the card run

If your card has the dual BIOS, the Slave setting will increase minimum fan and allow the GPU to run a little stronger

My 10 series GPUs start to slow a little around 50C, so cooler is faster

ACX cooler will dissipate the heat from the GPU chip, you need your PC to remove the heat from inside of the case = Fans & airflow

Enjoy your new EVGA 1080 FTW

    Welcome to the forums.

Good advice above from Cool GTX and I don't think I'd make 100% fan speed at 90C, I'd make it 70C/75C, something like that, up to you though to balance temp vs noise..FYI, the maximum GPU chip temp as specified by NVIDIA for a GTX 1080 is 94C (link).

Your card does have a Double BIOS in case you didn't know (some folks don't/haven't realized it) and the Primary/Master BIOS won't turn on the fans until 60C whereas the Secondary/Slave BIOS will run the fans in low rpm mode under 60C.

You don't have to have all those fan setpoints either if you don't want them..You can clear setpoints by clicking to highlight them and pressing Del on the keyboard..You can add setpoints by double-clicking on the fan speed line..You can change fan speed from curve to stepping by double-clicking in a blank area of the Fan Curve Editor.

It also looks as if your card may be unnecessarily idling it's Base Clock speed (1721 MHz) instead of clocking down into power saving mode, like you have 'Prefer maximum performance' instead of 'Optimal power' (the default setting) set in the NVIDIA Control Panel..But maybe that's the way you want it if that's the reason.

Can you show me what fan curves and settings you are using? Basically I want to try and increase the lifespan of the fan by having it spin at lower rpms to none for when it's not needed. Not sure if that would be very convenient. At idle, my temps stay at 34-35C. And also I want it for keeping the system quiet, again I don't know if it's a good idea.

I believe I was having VLC running so that's probably why it was showing a higher clock speed. Without it running the speeds are 253 and 405 MHz

Running the fan is not an issue for fan life.  There is a balance between quiet and less heat

My fan profile is aggressive by design

    You could set your base to 30 - 40 @ 50C
    then 60% @ 65C then 90% @ 70C
