    Hey Quentin,

I am actually on my 3rd sc-17 due to issues with the screen. All 3 power adapters I have used have made a quiet, but still audible buzzing noise when in use. I haven't had one fail yet, but I also probably haven't had one long enough before returning it for replacement to experience your issue.

I Hope they are able to send you a new power adapter. If you haven't called them yet you should. I am incredibly disappointed and regretful about my choice to purchase this laptop, but have been thoroughly impressed with the responses I've got from the customer service manager.

EVGA's documentation is terrible as usual.  All I can find out is that it is a 240W power adapter with DC power output.  What voltage?  No specifications are listed.  What polarity?  No specifications are listed.  What type of DC output jack is needed?  No specifications are listed.

It looks to me like some of the Lenovo power jacks are the same shape and size, but I don't know if they are the correct voltage or polarity.

If you want to find an answer, you are going to have to ask EVGA directly.  There just isn't any useful information available online and EVGA's product documentation is absolutely terrible as always.

Maybe you could help by taking pictures of your power adapter front, back, and sides, take a picture of the inside of the end of the plug which plugs into the laptop, and take a picture of any text you find on the adapter or wires.  There are no useful pictures online which I can find and no useful documentation, specifications, or information.

Native PSU is 240W, 19VDC 12.6Amps. Jack is 7.5mm OD, 5mm ID insulated.
Like this but without center pin. Inner barrel is positive, outer - negative.

    Thank you for the response.

Do you think that one similar to this would work?
    https://www.amazon.com/T-Power-170w-Lenovo-ThinkPad-W520/dp/B00RHAUF60/ref=sr_1_17?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1475902542&sr=1-17&keywords=lenovo+19v+charger

From what I can gather, it seems to be negative around the outside ring, positive around the inside ring, and positive at the center pin.  I can't find it's diameters, but assuming that it would physically fit, I would think that it would work as long as it was only used at lower laptop loads as it is only rated for 170 watts.

Center pin on native PSU is not present.
And of course using non-native PSU not recommended in any means. If you don't have emergency, get a replacement PSU unit.

Dude, if you call and give them some fuss you can get them to overnight a power supply to you. Tell them you use the laptop for work and that it's very important you be able to use the laptop asap.

Playing Russian roulette with off-brand power supplies with a laptop this expensive just isn't worth it.

    Dear quentin3225,

I am sorry to hear that your adapter has failed.  I assure you that we are here to help and that we can offer cross shipping on the adapter to assist.

Please do not use a 3rd party power adapter as it could damage your laptop and is not recommended.  I will have a contact to you first thing tomorrow morning to assist further.

Just spoke to Customer Service and a more unhelpful expericence I couldn't invent. I still have no idea whether they will replace the PSU or not, he said he cant email me confirmation and I would have to email them or call them back if nothing happens in a week or so...he didnt know about stock of the psu or whether I would have to RMA the entire laptop and suggested that I do that and request a refund????

So I am still none the wiser and I am currently stck with a very expensive metal brick.

Not happy at all, the much vaunted EVGA customer Service seems to be a myth of epic proportions.

Things like this is why I've never bought an EVGA Laptop. Reviews are all the same about this power supply. I hope they do some updates, because I'd really love an SC17.
