2 970 FTWs. No coil whine when benching in Valley at 1494Mhz, at least none that I could hear over the fans. Tweaked the fan profile and now I don't even notice the fans in most of the games I play.

yes. GTX 970 here. Minor coil whine. For those who think you don't have coil whine, try running the new dawn demo. My coil whine happens immediately right after I click the button to run the new dawn demo (only happens during loading screen. When the demo is loaded and running, the coil whine stops). My coil whine also happens when Heaven Benchmark is running. But it sounds different somehow. Turn off ur speakers when running these tests. I've tested these with 4 different eVGA GTX 970s and they all have the exact same coil whine.

Just arranged an RMA with my retailer. Ran Heaven 4.0 for 24 hours and it hasn't made any difference :(

Now that I put the two GTX 970 on water, I can confirm that the coil whine is also present in 3D aplications (to not be confused with 3D Vision mode), even if the FPS is between ~80 and ~120 FPS. But at least where I've tried it (Unigine Valley and Fire Strike), it's a very light buzz that still is louder than the 4 radiator and 2 case fans I have, but you would never notice it if you were playing something with speakers on. However, it is quite annoying in menus so, I may be indeed RMAing the cards due to that.

I have very very very bad luck....So many people have no problems with their EVGA's and coil whine and i get three of the bad cards. Thats so depressing -,-
So, i have to call EVGA on monday again....hmpf...:/

I'm pretty sure that has to do with the load the GPU goes under to get to 80-88ºC, rather than the temperature itself. Also, I'm yet to pass the 53ºC load mark on water. =)

No coil whine noted here with 970 FTW
Gaming or folding (folding atm holds temps at 58-60 with fans at 45% (own profile to hold fan speed at 45% for temps 50 to 60))
I've done a core 17 and 18 (no 15 yet) and several hours of gaming.
I've also not applied any additional overclock but current clock is reported as 1380
asic 66.3%

There are countless recordings posted showcasing the various degrees of coil whine across any number of eVGA GPUs over the years, with some being much worse than others.
Could one of the rare people in here who claims they have no coil whine whatsoever on a 9-series please post a similar recording with a mic/camera pointed right at the card(s) while performing some of the more notable trigger tests (passmark splash screen)?
An example of one of the 9-series running with absolutely no coil whine would be both reassuring and appreciated. As of yet, I still can't get anyone who claims to have no coil whine to do it properly.

I have a Be Quiet! 580W Straight Power E9 80+ PSU and my mainboard is an ASUS P8Z77-V. No cheap stuff ;> I tested my second card in my other pc, but without drivers and Benchmark, because i had to hurry up to bring the card right in time to the post office for the RMA. I have heared some quiet coil whine while idleing in windows, like in my main pc. My other pc got an Enemerax 500W PSU and a MSI board.

Yeah, I doubt that anyone truly has no coil whine in the 700 or 800 series.

Appreciate the effort (seriously, thank you), but FahCore 0x17/18 does not produce the whine. Yes, it's that specific and maddening. None of my cards whine on 18's either, but 15's wail like a banshee. Launch Passmark and get to the page with the spinning image/fps counter in the bottom right corner (or one of the other known triggers) and see if it stays just as silent.

Coil Whine only Starts in Games For Me. I Cap the FPS to 120 & That Help A lot. Side Panel Back on My Case Helps. im Still Having The Nvidia Stop Responding Pop error I Should Get a New EVGA Power Supply & Test That.

No coil whine and love the performance but card will get random driver crashes if I dont enable a fan curve to run fans while idling(shouldn't have to do that... Evga even released firmware update so fans would shut off while isdling but my card crashes if i dont).
Oh and gtx970 sc acx2.

970 SSC ACX 2.0 and I get coil whine if a 3D application is rendering at over 1000 FPS. Gets louder when the FPS rises.
