I don't use Avast. I assumed that since Windows says it is up to date, there is no need to install this.

hit the run box and type 'winver' without the quote marks and tell us what version you have.

Cool GTX Have a second monitor ? Try to Run the tool with DP connected to the 1080 Ti You checked post #15 ? Windows fast startup turned off ? Make sure All software is off when loading your driver - including security software (go offline First) (driver usually or hardware)
support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/310123/error-codes-in-device-manager-in-windows (excerpt) CauseOne of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner.Recommended ResolutionIf you have already run the troubleshooters in the "Try these steps first" section, check the hardware documentation or contact the manufacturer for more information about diagnosing the problem.Reinstall the device driver manually
- From Start, search for device manager and select Device Manager from the results.
- Right-click the device in the list.
- Select Uninstall from the menu that appears.
- After the device is uninstalled, choose Action on the menu bar.
- Select Scan for hardware changes to reinstall the driver.Note You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s website.
The troubleshooter from Microsoft detects that there's a problem with the card, but it can't identify the problem apparently. I tried installing a few different versions of the driver and the error code is still there after all of them. Tried 2 system restore points, however both give an error and don't work for some reason. Tomorrow after work I can try restoring to the backup image I made after installing Windows 10 and a few programs, but I have a feeling that won't do the trick either. To me it looks more and more like the graphics card is faulty. I don't understand how it can cause so many issues out of nowhere, especially since it worked fine until yesterday with no apparent change.

Yes, you're on the latest version (excepting Insider) so that isn't your issue.

Also if the psu is modular check to make sure the power connections for the pci-e cables are fully seated into the psu connections and that no wires have been pushed out of the connector on both ends. Maybe a ground wire slightly pushed out from seated crooked.
This just happened to me with a brand new 6-6+2 pin adapter cable. I was rerouting cables and one of the ground wires got pushed out of the adapter power cable (imported piece of crap). I finally got it reinserted good enough to push onto the opposite plug and taped it up until I can get another one. I might just spring for a new PSU being that this one is an old OCZ 700. I would definitely re-check those 8pin power cables to make sure no wires got pushed out the back while making the connection. Components can still be identified through the video cable without power cable connected. After a visual inspection, give each power wire a LIGHT tug to see if you can easily pull it out from the rear of the connectors.

The wires are fine guys, I've checked them. And all the components have just been purchased about a week ago, including the PSU. After all my attempts to fix the situation, I decided to RMA it and hope for the best. Thanks for all your help!

Ok guys, the replacement arrived today. I have just installed it and it seems to work, so I guess the other GPU somehow stopped working after a week. Hopefully this one will last longer! Thanks for all your support!
