Wow sounds like the problems I first had all weekend, till monday morning when I switch out bran new gskill ram.

If I set the vcore or anything it would not post. Well after switching out the ram everything is awsome.

If any of you have extra ram laying around, try switching to see if it helps. After I got other sticks in there everything worked as expected.
To get the vcore to stay put. You have to disable a few things.

Peace

Which memory were you using before?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231439
I got the green PBC which very likely is a different controller than the one pictured :/.
I bought 2 sets, the set I put in, one stick was bad, I put the other set in and it works fine. Also the 2 highest ram setting (forgot which ones im at work right now) I had to set manuley to 88 and 42 . But three out of the 4 sticks post fine at 1600mhz 6-8-6-24-x-x-x-x-x-88-42 @ 1.64v

So you think the problem is my ram?

If you can't make 1 change to anything in the Overclocking tab in the bios, then yes. Try 1 stick at a time, or other ram if you can.

If everyone gets the samething then maybe upon first boot with the board it takes out a stick? that is purely my own opinion.

But after I got other ram in.  VERY VERY nice board, feels alot more solid than other SB boards. I got my CPU to 5.5ghz on air vs only 5.3ghz on another board.

Peace

Re:EVGA P67 FTW BIOS fails 2011/06/08 11:09:32 (permalink)
Well, I tried out every piece of ram (I have 4 sticks) then I reset to defaults, then I enabled raid for my drives, and finally selected XMP Profile 1 and pressed F4 (I only modified the things I listed),  I did this with every stick, but as soon as I hit "Yes" to confirm the board would post 20 (at least it looked like 20), then it would stay like that until I cleared the CMOS.  So I was thinking to myself how I would be happy being able to overclock the cpu (2600K) to 4Ghz and was becoming very frustrated.  I looked at all the settings and saw the dummy overclock option.  SO... I restored defaults, set up raid, and enabled dummy overclock.  I didn't mess with anything else.  It worked.  I'm overclocked to 4Ghz even with EIST and C1E enabled.  I'm wondering, what is wrong here? I've tested the ram and they're perfectly fine, in a few hours I will run memtest, but I doubt it's my memory since 'Dummy OC' got me to 4Ghz stable.  Once again, could someone explain why this is happening? What exactly does 'Dummy OC' do that is different from trying to OC manually?

Sorry for the long post, I just find this board to be very interesting, it's powerful, but something is off in the bios. :)

Hey Jacob, what was the feature called "Dummy OC?" Is it in the BIOS or will it be added?

never mind I found it

OK another issues I've found is that when the PC is starting up, (right before the Windows login) the Keyboad/mouse lose power then regain it then lose it again several times. Also the monitor loses its signal for a few seconds, then the computer loads into the desktop and it works fine.

All this waiting to get problematic boards. And now I'm sitting here glad I've yet to order mine. Hopefully the new BIOS fixes everything, then I'll buy one. If not I'm going elsewhere for a board.
Sad that had to be my 101st post

I wonder if, You put a 2nd GPU into slot 5 on a P67 FTW if it blocks any of the switches or that debugging LED on the bottom right.  Thoughts?

Ya it will block the led debug. My 560 lands about halfway thru it. The bios switch and the power and reset are not blocked. Cmos battery looks kinda blocked too. My 780i had all the same stuff blocked so it really doesn't bother me plus all that stuff is really for out of the case benching for the most part anyway. And evga has the Ecp too if you really need those functions that much.

I also haven't experienced any of the problems that AE AMD others are talking about. I'm not useing the SATA 3 OR usb 3.0, a ssd and no raid. I also disabled a lot of the Intel crapola that's really useless to me and changed my boot orders, ram timings/voltage but have not attempted a overclock yet. I will report back after that.

I uploaded some pics and posted my rig on MOD rigs.  I'm using Intel Rapid Storage and I believe that is what gives me the short drive hang ups.  I don't mind since it isn't anything to care about.  Hope you guys can see the pics alright

I've tested the ram and they're perfectly fine, in a few hours I will run memtest, but I doubt it's my memory since 'Dummy OC' got me to 4Ghz stable.  Once again, could someone explain why this is happening? Sorry for the long post, I just find this board to be very interesting, it's powerful, but something is off in the bios. :)

That sound just like what happen to me, dummy oc worked XMP profile worked, but couldn't change vcore or anything. But I got code 45. Not 20. There is 3 different Bios on the board, I know it wont make to much difference but try all of them. Also What CPU cooler are you using?
To much presure on the socket will cause the same thing. Try reseating the CPU. Take it out, look over the pins. Latch it down and back up a few times. Try the stock cooler. I hope you figure it out. Cause that's  what my whole weekend was like. I got So frustrated and about gave up.
Peace

How did you over-clock to 4Ghz? Dummy O.C. is a preset to 600Mhz I think. When I enable Dummy O.C. my Multiplier disappeared.

Just for the fun of it   I could disable 2 cores and get alot higher. This is still air cooling (thermalright TRUE).

AWESOME!!!!!

I would try it but since I have to leave VCore on Auto the farthest I will go is 4Ghz. Hopefully EVGA will have this fixed soon. . Got everything back to stock right now.

Okay ... so when you set dummy o.c. to enable you're still able to see and use the multiplier correct?

No, I wasn't able to change the multiplier since it disappeared when I enabled Dummy OC , but :D good news! I followed DJ Ray's advice on adjusting the heatsink (I wiggled it a bit)  Then I go into the UEFI and followed most of what Jacob told us to do for overclocking, the only things I did differently were that I increased the ram voltage to 1.6V from 1.5V but did not change the timings (I left them on default) and I set the multiplier to 45 right off the bat.  I left the cpu voltage to auto for now, but I'll change that for better efficiency.

Okay, let us know if your able to change the VCore setting with that higher ram voltage, you and DJ Ray may have found something.

Re:EVGA P67 FTW BIOS fails 2011/06/08 18:56:22 (permalink)
Yes, overclocking is possible for now as long as I leave the memory timings alone, however, a new concern arose.  My processor gets up to 80 C+ (ambient temp is around 30 C) when I have it overclocked to 4.5 GHz and  3.25 VCore .  I touched my heatsink (yeah, I know it's not super smart ) but it's cool... not even warm, it gets a little warmer as I follow the heatpipes down to the cpu.  I thought maybe the heatsink was at fault so I turned prime off and the temps IMMEDIATELY fell down to 48 C.  I'm like ****?  Is this normal for the sandy bridge processors? I tried the same frequency but at a lower VCore in an attempt to lower temps but when I load into Windows it says I only have 1 core...

Maybe I will go on and install my FTW before I sell my Asus board.

how much? i have one already and i love this board and need to put another one together, was thinking about the ftw myself but with the problems i am hearing i will stick with asus cause even when i had the b2 board it worked right out the box, never have had one problem with this, even when i had the wrong mem it worked like a charm. good luck with all that lol

I tried the same frequency but at a lower VCore in an attempt to lower temps but when I load into Windows it says I only have 1 core...

no it's not normal, i get no higher then 50 to 60 under heavy load and all the way down too 21 to 34 idle.

Re:EVGA P67 FTW BIOS fails 2011/06/09 02:05:24 (permalink)
I had all of the same symptoms descriped. I swaped out ram and reseated the CPU. I have allways had problems with too much presure on the socket since intel switched to the pins on the MB. If to much then some pins maybe touching each other and or not touching the correct point it should.

If you have error code 45 then try the ram, ( swaping, upping the volts (safe up to 1.70v) lossen the timmings. I saw that this MB for some reason sets tRFC and tFAW to half of what it should be.
My gskill tRFC is 88 and tFAW is 42 now after setting the correct ones.

If you get another code other than 45, try taking out the CPU and looking at the pins, make sure not even 1 is bent. Then if we are trouble shooting just use the stock cooler for now. It's safe up to around 1.40v but will get hot. I wouldn't let it go over 70c but people over at Xtremesystems has let theres go up to 80c durring prime .

Anyways I hope you guys get it all sorted out, this motherboard is really a nice board. I felt the same way and thought it was a bios issue, till I redid everything.

Peace

Re:EVGA P67 FTW BIOS fails 2011/06/09 06:42:26 (permalink)
I have a few questions before I pull the trigger on this board and I hope someone can answer them:

1 - Can all 6 of the Intel Sata ports be used at one time?  I thought I read that two were shared.

2- If I run three GPU's, the PCIe slots will be 8x 8x 8x, correct?

3 - Is this board better than the MEIV?  I have the Asus, but I find it quirky.  I had an Asrock Extreme6 which was great, but I want three GPU's, so I thought about this board, any opinions?

Thanks

Re:EVGA P67 FTW BIOS fails 2011/06/09 06:52:19 (permalink)
Well got my board up and running and everything was pretty painless and no real issues last night.  I just had to fumble though setting up my RAID 0 array since the manual is very vanilla and doesn't cover anything at all with the bio but other than that good so far.   I want to let everything burn in for a couple days before attempting to overclock my 2600K and 570s and will do some research on the bios and hit up that threat that Jacob has on the bios and overclocking.

Two things though is that is does in fact have holes in the board for 775 coolers so I ended up getting a 1156 mounting kit for my True Black before finding this out so was kinda peeved about that.  The wiring connections for the case power/reset buttons it tight when you have a 2nd GPU and figure they could of located it a little higher or even at a 90 like they did for the PSU connection.
