That's fine. The only thing I personally focus on is the raw numbers, and as troy8d has already set up the display pages with the current formula, we're good to go on our side with minor adjustments. If/when the captains want this year's data as well for the fine tuning, just let me know and I'll provide it.

I thought I'd lay out the basic handicap design for this year, in simple  terms. No trash talk, I'm serious now.
 
You have two racers than want to race the 100 meter dash - say Bob and Sal. Now Bob is a 10.0 second racer, but Sal is slower - say 15.0 seconds.
 
Sal says he's a bigger guy, so he should get more of a handicap, since it takes more power to move him down the track.
 
Bob says he's a smaller guy, so he has less muscle mass to power him down the track, and besides, Sal has a lot of people cheering for him on this hometown track, so he gets more motivation.
 
You are handicapping this race, between Bob and Sal.
 
1) You can't quantify motivation, or cheering fans, so those factors, get ignored. Also, you don't care if Sal has had great practice runs. Because you're not trying to make the runners finish in a dead heat. If Sal is in better shape for this race, then Sal should have the chance to use that better shape, to win. AFTER this race, the handicap will change - but not before.
 
For the first race, Sal gets a 5 second handicap.
Sal's handicap time = (actual time * 10) /15
 
For the next race, Sal has improved his racing, and he has been racing the 100 meters in 13.0 seconds.
Now Sal only gets a 3 second handicap.
Sal's handicap time = (actual time * 10)/13
 
Next race, Bob pulls a hamstring, and his time is 40 seconds. His time for the handicap calculation is limited to 10% less than his last race time, before he pulled his hamstring. (and this 10% figure is adjustable, and yes, arbitrary).
 
There are a few other nitty gritty calculations for the CC handicap, but not much more than the above describes.
 
The handicap system for the CC is simple, and  it's fair. It's focused on ONE category only: POINTS. It's still handicapped, so small teams can win it - but so can big teams. If a team improves it's ppd over last year's CC, and continues that into the race, it has an EXCELLENT chance of winning the race. That's the way it should be.
 
The size of your team, shouldn't be a factor. The growth of your folding team, shouldn't matter. Your teams ability to sign up it's folders to a single folding name shouldn't matter. Your teams production during the rest of the year, shouldn't matter. First and foremost, the CC is a RACE - not a F@Home promo event. A good race will always be a promotional event - people like races, they always have, but let there be no confusion: the CC is a *race*.

It's to grab the attention of the folks who might still check their PMs but not be currently folding. We were all caught in the blast message. Which is a good thing! ;-)

Didn't have the funds to get a hold of another gtx580, but I will be folding on.  Also be giving away some sweet mx cherry caps during and after the challenge.  Since there is no prize system this contest I will be giving these out to who throws the most poo during the contest and also to some of the best contributors.

Well then, I guess I just need to keep doing what I usually do. Run up a big electric bill. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!
