I signed up this morning as Folding only, but then I decided to start my laptop crunching since it's a bit of a waste folding. Is it possible to update my signup for crunching as well as folding? Also I have no idea what I can do crunching wise because I've been out of the game since about 6 months after the start of EVGA's crunching team. May need some help getting my laptop's GPU up and crunching as well.

Your entry has been updated. Thank you for letting us know.

Sorry, I haven't had much time to work on much else today, although it appears everything but the stats are pretty much on auto pilot. I did want to add that there seems to be some confusion on the Prize Donation method. Anyone who wishes to donate may still donate individual items, as in all of the earlier competitions. The "Pool Prize" was just added as an additional option for those who wanted to donate but didn't have items and/or didn't want to bother with needing to ship items.

I overlooked the GPU list focusing on the list you posted of projects I had ran. I just noticed the GPU listing today, my apologies 7im, err Punchy, for being distracted by something that pertained to me specifically and not noticing the GPU list right off.

Don't make me regret voting for you for COTM.  You've only been here a few months and you don't know much about me, my style or my contributions here.  By the way, I happen to like 7im, so thanks for the compliment.

Is anyone else seeing an undercount of the users on the Teams page?  I'm seeing only 1 person listed under Mountain even though there's 5 signed up in the Contestant list.  Sometimes Opera shows me cached versions of pages when I don't want it to, so it's possible this issue is at my end.

I see the same thing.  Looks like the team page hasn't updated since yodap entered.

Sorry, I manually do the team page right now and haven't in a bit. It doesn't mean it isn't being registered, it just means I am slacking off.

I'm sorry to bother, but after a day or two With folding, I also began having second thoughts.
I put in the form that I was folding also, but I think I have to drop out of the folding for now.
It would have been great if you could change my participation to crunching only, (CPU and GPU)
Thank you in advance, and sorry for the trouble.

I'm about to make the same decision but I'll keep trying for a core 17 wu for another 12 -24 hours and if not, I have to pull the plug.

If I may make a recommendation, you may want to remain signed up in the folding division. You only NEED to do one work unit per division you are signed up in (providing you are doing more than that in at least one of the divisions). So, remaining signed up in folding would allow you to fold if your team needed some slack picked up in the division, or allow you to fold if, fingers crossed, core 17 gets better distribution between now and the contest end. It is just a way to keep your options open if you want to.

If you don't intend to fold at all, I understand and can edit your entry to remove you from that division.

@sajinor
You are right, and I do want to follow Your recommendation to stay put.
I do have the ability to fold, and if my division need a hand, I'll throw myself around.
Just installed the 337.50beta, and Wonder how it folds, but I don't hold my breath lol.
Thanks

So far so good on the test stats samples - Just counting down the days until I copy the list in and get things rocking and rolling.

Working on the stats output. I have a rough one done that will be posted shortly with sample points. It looks suspiciously like a spreadsheet  All the info is there, it just looks a little ghetto.

If anyone wants to build some better looking stats, I can give you access to what I have going. I'm not very good at making things look good. I might get better at this over time...

Looks quite nice to me!  You could always have a separate hidden spreadsheet with one column of numbers per day and show graphs for each division.  I can help you with that if you like.

Please don't lump POEM@Home in with the GPU camp. They do not have a running GPU task available yet. They keep coming across issues with the one they are working on. Currently there isn't even any beta tasks for the GPU at POEM.

POEM has been moved to CPU. If there is any sign of GPU tasks coming up, please let me know so I can move it around again. While I know the chances are rare, if GPU comes on during the contest, we may have to remove it from the remainder of the contest so it can't completely take over.

I like charts too much to leave them out.  They are on the to-do list, but want to make sure the stats are all good, which they seem to be coming along well. At this point, the only manual thing I will have to do is run your stat's collector and import that data to sheets, which should only take a couple minutes in all.

Interesting to look at the sample stats. Really shows why CPU needs to be separated from GPU in a contest format. Also funny that Mountain won, considering bcavnaugh is the only Mountain entry in that sample pull. Shows how much of a force he is on his own.

sajinor, I'm taking the stats updates offline for now - I need to clean up the system a bit, and will be moving the system into a new case for a review for TheModZoo at some point this weekend.

Just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't worry when the google test doc stopped working.

Also, do you want me to create a new sheet for the contest, or just rename the current one and reset it?  The links should stay the same if we do that.

Aye, not a problem. Thanks for the heads up. Resetting the current one is fine by me if it doesn't affect you any. Quick question though. Will your points report as a total, meaning I will take a baseline at the start of the contest, or will they reset to 0 at the start of the contest? Just so I know, as I just went through it on the crunching side.

To everyone else, the work on the crunching stats has brought around another small change. Basically, if you sign up for crunching at all, whether it be for the CPU division, the GPU division or both, you will always be able to crunch for both the CPU and GPU divisions. It would have been more complicated to ignore certain people's stats, and that would simply discourage production in certain projects, which is far from the goal. The points will still be distributed into the two divisions based on the project you are working on. For now, the sign up will remain the same, as it is good to have some demographic numbers to see what people do intend to work on. In future contests, we will probably just have one sign up for crunching. This does not affect folding in any way

Crunching stats have to be manually initiated by myself, meaning they will not be as regular as the folding stats, which are automated. I intend to run the crunching collection 3 times a day: Morning (9am), Afternoon (3pm) and Evening (9pm). Times are Pacific and approximate, as it is based on when I have the time. The process only takes a few minutes, I just have to be around to do it. Expect the Afternoon update to be occasionally missed or delayed. Any graphs and daily stats will be based on the Morning update and the similarly timed Folding update.

Finally, with sign-ups closings being just a week away, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas to try to push awareness and get some more people involved. The more signed up generally means the more work that gets done. With the contest section being gone, some people may not even think to look for any events.

I report live numbers as they come out of Stanford, so you need to use the first set as your zero point. Let me know what the start and end points are (timezone specific) so I can set my system to run and stop as close to each as possible, please and thanks!

You can set up tasks in the windows task scheduler to at least run the statistics collection at the same time(s) every day as long as your PC is running, whether you are there or not.  If you can share the secret of how the folding stats get from drougnor's computer to the web site, I can probably do the same for the crunching stats.

Drougnor is the one with the secrets, as any good pimp should. I am just taking the stats from his Google Spreadsheet document and bringing them into my own. From there I just publish the sheet to the website. I am not sure of a way to do an automatic or scheduled import to the Google Spreadsheets. Again, I don't mind working with it manually. I have the time, it just might not always be at the same time. The task scheduler is a good idea, so at least the points are collected at a consistent time.

How do I find my Crunching CPID?  i looking all over Boinc and have no idea where it is, lol..  I just glanced at the contestant list, and I am the only one, out of the labeled CPID users, that doesn't have a proper CPID... Any help, lol?  Still new to this.

I personally used the search found http://boinc.netsoft-online.com/e107_plugins/boinc/bp_home.php . If you use the "User Search" on the left, about half way down, that should return your CPID. If you come up with multiple results, I believe you want to use the one associated with the projects you have been working on most recently.

I am just taking the stats from his Google Spreadsheet document and bringing them into my own. From there I just publish the sheet to the website. I am not sure of a way to do an automatic or scheduled import to the Google Spreadsheets.

Well, bust my buttons! Why didn't you say that in the first place? That's a horse of a different color!
I can probably have the PHP scripts do all that for you automatically for the crunching stats.

You are the technical guy. I don't know all that much about PHP and its capabilities. I can hardly spell it.  For all it is doing for me it might as well be wizardry. I am just using hobbled together self taught excel/spreadsheet skills to do what I can.

Everything after being imported into the Google Spreadsheets is (or should be) automated. The import should be the only missing step.

Punchy, go to here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ajp2y_vsc3njdGpYazYxMUZWWEg3RkdqM05id215ZHc&usp=drive_web#gid=0

In the cells with the long formula, you see my magic sauce - I upload an xml file to a website, use google's api to pull it down, added some workaround code to force it to look for updates every 2 minutes.

On the back end, I wrote a simple comparison script that checks time stamps, does the proper copy and paste to add a new line to the hourly history, and resets the timestamps for the next round of comparisons - This runs every 5 minutes.

PM me if you have any questions beyond that
