too true, emmett.. it does feel very wasteful. I'd have to rebuild my system AGAIN to use that PSU as well. not sure I'm up for it. have 4 more hours to decide.....

I decided to skip the 3090 ti Kingpin when I got my notification mail yesterday. EVGA should have knocked $400 off the price and not included the power supply. I already have too many 1500 watt and 1600 watt power supplies. I don't need EVGA to force me to buy something I don't need to get something else. That's almost as bad as Newegg and their Newegg Shuffle bundles that bundled in demand items and unwanted/poor quality items. EVGA says "requirements" when in reality its probably to get people to buy PSUs now that they have too many and mining demand decreases reduced the demand for higher wattage PSUs. Do they actually think everyone who overclocks needs another 1600 watt power supply?

that where I am at too, I got 2 almost new PSUs in the closet and one in my current build ;a 1k a 1.2 k and a 1.6, + A 90 ti waiting on an EK block already pre ordered

Most likely because you'll need 6x 8-pins to power the card with the included adapters, or 8 8-pins when using a power link. 
why not the t2 tough? they are the same price right now

I look at it this way. I think EVGA was always going to charge $2499.99 but with the changing market conditions and glut of PSUs as everyone waits for the new standards they decided to bundle it with it to give more value to their always known MSRP and ship out some PSUs too.
Considering the 3090ti Hybrid was $2199.99, $2499.99 seems just about right for the pricing even before throwing in a PSU.

So my KP3090 is in RMA with them this week and ironically despite the fact that I have been corresponding with them on my RMA status, today I happen to look at my junk mail and saw my notification from them, past my 20 hour period. Maybe, but for everyone reporting to the thread as passing we have no idea where they are in the queue nor how many have sold so far along with "limited" production run. Still, $2500 in these market conditions is pretty steep.

The 3090Ti is literally one of the most pointless cards in the history of nvidia releases. The RTX 4080 and RTX 4090 are right around the corner. Spending this much on a card which will be obsolete in 3 months is hella foolish, even if money is no object to you.

for most folks, sure. if you know what hardware globals are, then you understand the appeal of the top binned 3090 Ti to some folks. and for anyone who held off buying a 30 series gpu i can see the appeal since it will most certainly be just as difficult to buy a 40 series gpu, let alone a kingpin. demand will increase when the new series drops as we'll all be competing with resellers once again. if crypto rebounds again and/or eth fork is delayed i can see the miners buying more gpus again as well.

zippy do you really think that's the case? I see that as an unlikely logical outcome. the retail video card market is going to be completely different in terms of pricing tiers versus the last 2 years barring nationalization of TSMC. (not the thread for it, but I would love to hear a realistic crypto bull case. central bank hedge? failure. "money" substitute? failure. liquidity and store of value? failure. residential power rate arbitrage subsidized by taxpayers? uhhh sort of. financial transparency? failure. my personal favorite is when a "smart" contract turned out to be just a regular contract in escrow.)

I passed on my email notification as well. I have a 3090 Ti FTW3 Ultra that is a really good bin and this is way too expensive and late in the 30 series cycle to be worth it IMO. I'm waiting for a 40 series at this point.

I already have a KP 3090. The initial benchmarks are not looking great, and with the 4k series being close, I'm going to hold out for a 4090 hybrid of some kind from EVGA. The price isn't too bad considering the PSU.

I think we are in a WAY different situation than 2 years ago, 1 : The Pandemic gaming craze completely obliterated old 20 series stock well before the release of the 30s, 2: there were so many more programs that were getting released that old hardware was struggling with, now there's so many 30 cards in the wild that can run pretty much everything, that pressure is way less. 3: We are likely heading into a recession and Nvidia had been reported to be in negotiations with TSMC because they feel they ordered way to much at this point . All GPUs have been selling at a LOSS for the last 3 months, can't give away a KPE right now.
I think we will see a new 4090 in Oct at about 1499 and 15-20% faster than the 3090 Ti, and I bet you will be able to buy one.

I haven't gotten my notice yet but when it comes I'm going to pass on this and wait to see what the 4000 series does. EVGA might have mentioned that the TI Kingpin is binned, but it's not listed on this site as being binned so I would not hold them to it unless it's in writing and the performance across all the cards users get in the general release support that. We've seen more than a few dogs in the 3090 Kingpin release including my own. After waiting to get that in and seeing the limited performance in mines I have to say I might be looking for something else in the next series. Maybe trying to get a Galax lab model or something a little more common so I wont have to be limited with the waterblock like I did this past series. Including a PSU in this deal now reminds me of the Shuffle. For some it might work out well, but now that you can get a 3090 below the initial release price it sounds more like a money grab. If they added an option to get the psu at a discount when pairing with the gpu purchase then it would be a total different approach. I am satisfied with my Kingpin, though I do wish it would have performed better in the benchmarks with all that I did to create the foundation for it to perform. The performance of my Kingpin kind of killed the fire in me to build something crazy for myself. I threw everything I could except LN and the 1000 watt bios at it and it still is only marginally better than the 3090 FTW3 ultra I had earlier.
