OCCT 12.1 free edition gets “3D Adaptive” test for GPUs

The “3D Adaptive” testing feature is primarily designed for GPU stress testing, utilizing dynamic variables that can adjust over time based on user-defined conditions. Powered by the Unreal Engine, this test operates in the background while providing users with real-time statistics, offering insights into how their GPU responds to increasingly demanding rendering tasks.
As an illustrative example, users can start with a modest 20% intensity setting, gradually escalating it up to 100%. The test increments rendering intensity by 5% every five minutes and incorporates automatic error detection testing. Users are presented with multiple graphs scenarios that serve the dual purpose of aiding overclocking efforts and conducting stability assessments.
Given the GPU’s clock fluctuations under varying workloads, gamers can also monitor the peak frequencies of their GPUs relative to rendering intensity. The developer has received positive feedback from paying members who have had access to this feature for several months. As promised, 3D Adaptive testing is now available in the free (Personal) edition of the software.
In addition, OCCT 12.1 is receiving additional updates for CPU and memory testing in the free version. This includes the introduction of CPU Cache and Memory Latency/Bandwidth testing to the Personal version. Furthermore, a revamped CPU Core cycling test is now available, allowing users to customize the number of threads per core, designate active and inactive cores, and even specify core behavior during the testing process, including options for choosing P-Cores, E-Cores, or cores within a single chiplet.
For the OCCT Enterprise edition, a new OpenCL test is being introduced to assess high-end data-center GPUs such as the NVIDIA A100 or H100. This test is designed for specialized use cases, pushing the limits of GPU performance and enabling the testing of multiple cards simultaneously. While not intended for everyday users, it represents a valuable addition for certain professional applications.

  • UI: Replaced the “busy” indicator with a new one to lower the UI usage by using a 2FPS animation for this indicator. Especially useful for the new memory latency benchmark

  • Monitoring: Much better support for the top-level bar for AMD GPUs (some sensors were missing previously)
  • SysInfo: Added storage information
  • Settings: OCCT now allows you to disable monitoring again, as in v11
  • Cpu: Revamped the advanced thread section ! The CPU test will allow you to do per-core testing, exclude core, and ecven launch several threads per core. This will definitely get you covered for all your per-core testing needs !
  • Gpu3DStandard: Fixed issues with multi-GPU support – will now work flawlessly
  • Gpu3DAdaptive: Fixed issues with multi-GPU support – will now work flawlessly
  • Gpu3DAdaptive: Test is now available in the Free edition of OCCT
  • Vram: Fixed the GPU selection algorithm and this test will now work on GPU that aren’t 3D capable ( Nvidia A100, etc.)
  • Benchmark: New benchmark : Latency/Bandwidth ! This test will tell you latency, read and write bandwidth for Memory, L1, L2, and L3 cache
Ultimately, the inclusion of these features in the free edition of OCCT makes it a versatile and valuable tool for GPU testing. It may also serve as inspiration for other companies and developers to create similar software solutions.
