Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti / Titan Rumors: GP102 GPU Delivers 13 TFLOPS, Next Titan To Feature 24GB of HBM2 Memory, 720 GB/s of bandwidthThe GP102 GPU will probably include 3840 CUDA cores, but what’s more interesting is that it is rumored to deliver performance equivalent to the GTX 1080 2xSLI, which means the next Titan X should be 50% faster than a single GTX 1080. Believing this, the GP102 GPU must be capable of delivering 13 TFLOPS of compute performance provided it is clocked at 1733 MHz, the same boost clock as the GTX 1080. In terms of the memory, the 1080 Ti is expected to come with 12GB of GDDR5X modules across a 384 bits bus, delivering a total bandwidth of 576 GB/s. So, with all that said... those with 980TIs should be waiting for 1080TI as a regular 1080 is a waste compared to upgrading to a 1080TI?

I think I might go with a 1080TI when they come out (hopefully newer 4K monitors are out; looking to get one at the end of the year). For the time being I will settle with my 980 SLI.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX TITAN based on Pascal to launch in August? According to the article, VRW staff had the opportunity to hold ‘GP100/102-based GTX TITAN’ in their hands just few days ago. Although this card (TITAN) is not expected to hit the market before GP102 Quadro implementation goes official, VRW actually gave us a date, which is August 17th to 21st at Gamescom in Germany. The so called TITAN P(ascal) would use either 12GB or 16GB HBM2 memory, with bandwidth 50% higher than GTX 1080 (so around 480 GB/s). According to VRW, GTX TITAN P would be roughly 50% faster than GP104-based cards. http://videocardz.com/61844/nvidia-geforce-gtx-titan-based-on-pascal-to-launch-in-august Bear in mind that the PCB design is really long. We’re seeing the return of a 30cm / 12″ long board here. The boards have 8+8-pin and 8+6-pin configuration, with the power connectors being placed in the front, rather than on top (which is the case with GeForce GTX 1070/1080). The target is at least 50% higher performance than GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition, and our sources are saying they’re now bound by the CPU. Even Core i7-6950X isn’t enough to feed all the cards and in a lot of scenarios you could see an Intel Core i7-6700K, with its supreme clock (4.0 vs. 3.0 GHz) easily feed the GP100 more efficiently than Broadwell-E based Core i7 Extreme Edition. OK, so no need to OC GPU, but much need to OC CPU. What am I not understanding regarding CPU cores and why 4 is better in reference to the article? Theoretically, wouldn't the 6850K at 4.0 boosted, 6 cores, and 40 lanes be a better option? Specially for SLI and the fact that many games are taking much more advantage of CPU cores now?

The comment on the 6950x not being able to feed the cards is pure bs. The 6950x can push the cards just fine. The 6700k does do a better job at feeding the cards straight out of the box as it has a higher clock speed than the 6950x straight out of the box. A cpu with 40 pci-e lanes would be best if you're running multiple gpu's with a mve ssd that taps into gen3 lanes. A 6700k would do just fine for a SLI rig as 8x/8x 3.0 isn't much different than 16x/16x 3.0.

Apparently, that's why it's a joke at Nvidia. There isn't any other variables being considered here. The reference to the need of old school 4 core CPUs must just be because of how well they OCed in the day.
