I'm a bit confused. The latest driver I see on the website is 512.15. Where do you even get the 512.16.
Also is there no way to have both 3090 and 3090 ti in the same rig? Why??

Kram36 thank you so much, according to my Device Manager I have 7x3090Ti's lol! Actually just have the 1 but doing exactly as you've advised this is what I get like you said.
Also at first NHQM wasn't recognising the Ti when just the 512.16 got installed kicking out my original 6x3090's. But now all is well except for the fact settings cannot be changed for just the Ti via the QM UI. SO using Afterburner as I like doing so too.

FYI, I thought maybe because your second GPU was also a Ti it worked for you. So tried it with my EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3080Ti in addition to the EVGA FTW3 Ultra 3090, still no success

Don't know what you're doing that it's not working for you, but it works fine for me.

Every time I try to manually update the driver, it correctly recognizes the card in name (e.g., 3080 Ti or 3090), does not label it as 3090 Ti in device manager and does not update the driver. GPU-Z shows 512.16 for the real 3090 Ti and some other (usually default Nvidia/Windows driver) for the 3090 or the 3090 Ti. I tried all kinds of variations (driver reinstall/clean/update, both cards in, just the 3090 Ti). I am probably missing something in your steps.

Are you trying to use 2 different driver versions at the same time? When doing it the way I showed, the only option on the driver will show 3090 Ti and device manager will have the card(s) name as a 3090 Ti, but will be recognized correctly by the programs you use as the card that it is, at least all the programs I have used so for, even PX1 shows the card(s) by it's correct name.
 
Simply install the 512.16 driver to get the 3090 Ti going. Then run the 512.16 installer again, but don't go any further than just letting the driver package unzip to the C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\512.16 folder. Then do as stated in post #19.

I tried to do exactly what you suggested. Same thing. I am not trying to install different drivers. Just when I get to the step of pointing to the location of the unzipped driver files, the card gets “correctly” recognized. When I close the installer, two different drivers are installed for the two different cards. Are you able to confirm that 512.16 is the driver installed for both GPUs using GPU-Z?

You need to have the 512.16 installer do a clean install and make sure Windows driver update is turned off as there should be no reason to have 2 different driver versions on your system.
 
Look at the picture in post #19, it shows my 3080 Ti using the 512.16 driver.
 

There is ZERO reason to try to install the .16 versus the .15 driver on anything but a 3090 Ti. The driver is functionally identical to the .15. There are no fixes in .16 that are not in .15.
It is kinda funny someone was rewarded for giving very bad advice on how to force install a driver in an matter that is officially unsupported by Nvidia. That you can do something, does not mean it is a good idea. Again, there's ZERO reason for force installing this via the device manager, zero.

512.59 is out now and should fix this issue for Windows users. no more hackey workarounds.

yeah the linux driver never had this issue.
