Hey guys,

New to folding.  Had a friend recommend me do it since it's for a good cause and I have a fairly powerful computer that can do some work for this stuff.  I'm still reading and learning about it all and I'll be honestly I don't quite understand what I'm doing yet, but since It's for a good cause I don't really care.  Looking forward to learning and talking to you guys.

welcome aboard! its actually really simple to start folding, just download and install. after that you probably want to register your username you created during install here. once done simply set the lvl of folding power, low/medium/high, and let it do its thing.

So I used EVGA team code and got a pass key.  It's currently working now on my gpu only and not my cpu.

    Welcome aboard Freddy.

I was going to say get a passkey but you did.
You should put it into a txt or doc file and save it on a couple computers or usb drives so you do not lose it.
Makes it easier to cut and paste when you set up folding, harder to make a typo when entering the key.

cpu folding isn't really a thing any more. so as long as you have the gpu working you are good to go ^_^

As Chris said, CPU folding is currently not worth the power draw.  GPU's do magnitudes more work than current CPU's can, so unless you have a Threadripper system, or an EPYC, folding on your CPU is not really worth the power draw.

Many of use fold on the GPU and crunch BOINC tasks on our CPUs. CPUs are more than welcome and worth the effort.
There are many different projects under BOINC (the client) to choose from.
There are science, medical (Aids, cancer, Ebola, AIDS...) map the stars, find prime numbers and several others.
We are a small but active team in challenges/competitions.
Stop by the EVGA crunching section when you're ready.
