Just register my 3080 FTW3 and now I've got Elite status.

I'm pretty sure this is how most Elite members (myself included) do it. This was more of a PSA to remind long time EVGA fans to dig up an old serial code and get themselves registered before the drop. I don't think there are that many people on the forums anyways that aren't already fans of EVGA that own at least one of their products.

The first product they are doing this with (The EVGA Z590 FTW WIFI) opens on Thursday at 10:00AM PST for Elite Members and on Friday at 10:00AM PST for the general public. I assume there will be similar announcements once the 3080 TI is officially announced. My hope is the NVIDIA has been holding back some of their GA102 dies to build up stock for this launch.

Aww yiss. Didn't want to waste my time with twitch or spamming up the forums and just remembered I bought the GQ power supply last year.

It still doesn't really mean anything.  As long as making 100 posts puts you in the Elite club, thousands of new people will join without ever having bought anything from evga and get on the list.    You can be sure that hundreds of them will be scalpers too.
 
Elite should be based off of registered past purchases of Evga in my humble opinion, not how quick you can spam the forums.

I 100% agree. I bought two evga gpus in the past but just because these are old products, I am not qualified to become an elite member.

Here's where I differ in viewpoint... I've never purchased from EVGA before but by offering this to someone like me they are doing two things; one, it gets me involved in their community, which I wouldn't have likely done otherwise; and two, it creates a new loyal customer before I've ever purchased anything. I'm now given the opportunity to buy a product I really want and will likely be with EVGA. If not for this purchase, they would become my go-to in the future for other purchases. Smart marketing, if you ask me.

I could definitely see your perspective also and do agree that this will bring new customers also. But I just wish they could allow the older customers to just get the elite membership automatically.

From the EVGA Elite member website page: if you don't meet the requirement for option 1 ("EVGA members who have purchased and registered ONE of the products listed in the box below."), then you're SOL for option 2 ("EVGA members who, within the last 12 months, have purchased and registered at least TWO EVGA products as the original owner.")
