All PSUs will have black and red cables out of the box. We are considering ways to support people who want other colors though.

You guys should get Martin at PhyscoSleeve to do all of them custom and just charge $200 extra.

But color options are nice, as would be a lifetime warranty.

Would the 1500W PSU require a 10 or 15amp socket and would I be able to buy one and use it here in AU on 240V ?

All black cables and I will be happy:)

I second that. I would like to see them released with black cables. The red cables shouldn't be the standard IMO. Not everyone likes that much red and at least with black they would match anybody's setup. Many people will be turned off if they only come in red

Edit: After looking at the picture again, another thing I would change is the fact that there are multiple PCI-E connectors per cable. I know it's probably way too late to change something like that but it's very ugly to have those loops of cable from each connector on each card. They really should have one connector per cable like the Corsair units. I know it may seem like nitpicking to some, but aesthetics are important to me and I would not be happy with the way these cables look. I guess I'll be sticking with Corsair. It's too bad really as I'm sure these are great units. But I just need black, straight cables with single connectors.

Agreed with everything said.  That 1200i unit will be coming on very soon by Corsair will most likely be another great one.  I like this concept but just a few things bother me, including the color of the cables.  Wonder how long till release?

On 240VAC I recommend a 10A cable. We will have an AU version.

That handle...my god! A sexy EVGA branded, designed AND built psu in a mITX rig would be awesome. Not to mention the handle can be used to carry the rig easily. Can't wait till EVGA releases all the psus.

The NEX1500 Classified is 80PLUS Gold certified. And as for the Lepa 1600W, no hard feelings against them and Enermax but I think we have them beat. ;)

Feel free to explain? i would pick enermax over your guys PSU any day of the week.

Better electrical stability and more reliable parts, individually sleeved cables, and powerful monitoring and tuning software. And a longer warranty and better support. I don't know what more you could ask for in an enthusiast grade power supply. ;)

I think we should wait for reviews before making judgement.  EVGA's OEM made only server PSUs after all, so it might turn out to be incredible.

A very big plus is that this is NOT some rebranded sub-par psu that didn't do quite well. Instead it's a intelligently thought out and designed psu series. It's why I may end up considering EVGA not just for my video card needs but for my psu needs too.

I'm against the idea of branching out to far, too fast, better to expand somewhat slowly and make sure you do things right than try to make every PC product on the face of the earth *cough*corsair*cough*

EVGA again set new standards.
Until now my first choice over 1KW would be AX1200 or
Seasonic Platinum, but now... now I need 580W but think to make triple overkill like present for New Year to myself.
I am impressed with this PSU.
Classified SLI deserve this Classified 1500W.
Nothing more-nothing less.

Look this
http://i.imgur.com/Daitk.jpg
Can you imagine fingers and sweat to make to look good like on other picture

and I can imagine this ....
http://i.imgur.com/zcOci.jpg

No more srinks, diffetent lenght, remove from connector, no more sleeve, no more loose warranty with some manufacturer if do that,
I love all black but red color is my second acceptable in PC, third last is grey.
These cables are fantastic!!!
Software is fantastic!!!
PSU is fantastic!!!

If I count AX1200 + CORSAIR sleeve cables(around 85$) and that look 10 time worse than EVGA cables or more money for AX1200 +
MDPC-X + my hand and pain and that look worse than this cables and 300W less, then this PSU worth lot of money.

I'm guessing the release for sell will be sometime early August, as that's when the winners of the contest for this will be announced.

At the very least I'd assume they'd need to have a MSRP when they ship them out for legal/tax purposes for the winners.

Re:New EVGA 1500W power supply? 2012/07/26 04:41:53 (permalink)
As far as I know, a overkill PSU will at worst eat more power and be less energy efficient than a equal quality PSU closer to the needed power.

Power supplies tend to be the most efficient at a certain percentage of their max power, so if you're below that with an Overkill PSU power costs may be a bit higher.

as for harming your system, I don't think it'll do that, it's just effieciency at worse (and well, the fact that you spent more money on a PSU than you need.)

One thing about a "overkill" PSU is that it won't be a limiting factor if you decide to do a major upgrade however.

Ideally however I'd prefer to go with a lower watt version of the same power supply, and put the saved money to something else, like a different upgrade.

I'd go with a PSU that's a bit higher than what you truly currently need if you want to make sure you have room for upgrades, longer life, and overall more flexablity with what you can do.

fpvgt500
Would the 1500W PSU require a 10 or 15amp socket and would I be able to buy one and use it here in AU on 240V ?

If this power supply was actually pulling 1500 watts and watts are real power.. so your not taking into account losses because of the inductive load; you would max out a 15amp breaker. If this Power supply ramped up to 1650 like it says it can for any length of time a 15 amp breaker would pop.

Before you say I'm wrong.. circuit breakers and electrical installations are never designed to run continously at max rating. The NEC allows for 85% usage when designing circuits... and like I said this is an inductive load and watts are real power.

Basically if this unit was installed to code in a commerical setting it would be on a dedicated 20 amp circuit. Basically bathrooms are required 20 amp circuits cause of them 1500watt hairdryers :p

Maybe I am wrong, but I could have SWORN Mike said this month.

Yup, here it is:

http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1663896

"Hi everyone,

We do apologize for the delays with this product, but the NEX1500 is our first in-house power supply project and will be the flagship of our new PSU series, so we've been working hard to make it as perfect as possible.

But now it is on the way, it is finalized, and we will have them soon. We will launch the NEX1500 this month.

Thank you all for your patience, you don't have to wait too much longer. :)

- Michael"

Re:New EVGA 1500W power supply? 2012/07/27 23:04:03 (permalink)
Not entirely true, If running it on a 240VAC 15A dedicated circuit It would be plenty to keep it at full load 24/7 I guess it depends what region your in but here in AU a standard power circuit is ran with a Twin core + Earth cable with 2.5mm2 copper cores which is rated at 20A max when used in dedicated application. For my circuit I would be putting a 15A CB 2.5mm2 TPS wire and 15A socket which could handle a total of 3600W draw from the outlet which is also backwards compatible with 10A devices only difference is 15A devices require a bigger earth pin, People might thinks it overkill but its ideal if your going to be running this PSU at full load to install a dedicated circuit so no overloading occurs.
